Item Story

The full name of this weapon is the "Mighty Redhorn Stoic Stonethreshing Gilded Goldcrushing Lion Lord,"
And it was once the beloved blade of an eccentric known as the "Otogi Kongou Lion King."

...But since both names were overly verbose,
The children named the weapon the Redhorn Pestle, and its wielder the "Otogi King."

The Redhorn Pestle was a weapon made from an enchanted monster's horn,
And bake-kitsune, bake-danuki, and evil demons alike would all have to beg for mercy before its bite.
Even Reizenbou, Great Tengu of Mt. Yougou,
Feared the ominous power of the Pestle, and would not come forth to face the Lion King!

...Of course, the children never believed such tales.
Still, the Otogi King truly was very strong. Even seven men together could not push him out of a dohyou.
And when he saw children hankering after fruit they could not reach, he would kick the tree and send the melons plummeting down.
That said, he did once kick the whole tree down, and was chased into the mountains by an old man.
He also once brought the children to crash an official autumn leaf-watching concert,
Crying in a loud voice "The Otogi Kongou Lion King is here. Demons beware!"
He then wrestled with the petite oni who just happened to be in the mood for a tussle... The results were too tragic to watch.

But if this was all the King had, to the point where he was never given the right to wear the Shogun's colors,
How could he, the children said, possibly bring those youkai of song to heel?

"Hah! I was just suffering from the chills after a long night of drinking, that's all!"
Even as the Otogi King made his excuses, he did not forget to laugh heartily.
Was he just shameless, or did he really believe that he could win? No one could say...

"This time, I'll definitely cut off the horns of those monsters,"
"And bring them back for ya. That'll show you the might of the Otogi Kongou Lion King!"
"Those creatures from beyond the ocean? Pfft! Easy pickings, I tell ya!"

"So yeah, shoo, shoo, follow the fox envoy to go hide in a corner and stuff."
"I'll swing by later. We'll have ourselves a few wrestling bouts then, eh?"

Even as he said that, the children remembered how the dainty oni had huffed softly,
Hurling the roaring, onrushing Otogi King into the sky...

Later, the oni who had wrestled with the Otogi King would flee after having her arm and horn cut off,
While the Great Tengu would no longer appear before humans, living in hermitage in the mountains and woods.
And so, the empty boasts behind this greatsword came true in the end,
Though the wandering, eccentric Otogi Kongou Lion King himself never returned again.
Even later on, the Lavender Melon tree that he kicked down would, with careful tending, once again bear fruit.

What is better, R1 stonethresher or R3 Serpent spine?

I have both of these and RT will be better than SS at those refinements. It also really depends on your artifacts. The mechanics of serpent spine is counter intuitive for the effect of a the 4pc HOD. SS requires your character to be in the field to gain the stacks while HOD gives stacks faster while off the field.

Yeah she can her e ability gives herself 60%def bonus if you get 2 stacks which synergy quite well with the weapon tho I cannot say if it’s better than her own weapon

i think if you have c2 xinyan this can potentially be good for her since her burst doesnt require anymore crit damage you can just stack as much crit damage for her (substat of this weapon+ slot 5 artifact crit damage + slot 4 artifact phy damage) . plus you can make her for full def (from this weapon and articfact slot 3) so her shield on e skill can be tanky too..

    1. Her burst DMG doesn’t increase based on her defense and even though this weapon has a lot of CDMG it’s gonna end up being only that because of the low base atk. She will do better with other weapons like Serpent Spine, Broken Pines, Wolf gravestone, etc. And for her c6 the damage increase you get from her defense is also not that significant if you were to compare this weapon with the aforementioned ones. The crit value can be solve with good artifacts too, I’m not saying this weapon is bad for her but there are better weapons that she can used that makes her having this on her or just for her would be a waste…

It has low base atk however Xinyan does ascend on ATK% which slightly makes up for it. WGS probably ends up giving her diminishing returns with so much ATK with no crit value so I’d wager that Stonetresher with a crazy 88% crit dmg will make her ult do more damage than WGS. Not to mention with this weapon you can sorta have a hybrid of Spinyan and burst nuke since the crit dmg will help her ult and the passive helps her charge attacks as well.

Yes, it is worth pulling for your Noelle. Considering that Kazuha and Ayaka were recent banners, it will take a while for them to get a rerun so I’m positive you’ll have enough wishes to pull for them both and the new claymore

Yea…. Why… This is not moba. Those mindset might work there, not here.

Plus her gameplay is burst not really DPS. Also Her second E removes stacks.

Her second e removes stacks? Huh. Plus when she only has 1 stack you can switch to an electro to reapply superconduct?

I don’t think you should pull this for Eula sure, but it’s viable.

It will be great on Xinyan. You can get a hybrid build going so your shield isn’t paper thin since the def now counts towards your attacks. Personally I’m going for it and will be throwing a Pale Flame set on her. It should work ESPECIALLY well on a C6 Spinyan who will get to double dip on the DEF. I plan to run her with Benny, Gorou and one more Geo (Albedo would have been perfect but I am saving EVERY primo I can for this weapon, I have terrible luck and will probably need the full 240 wishes to get it.) She’ll scale from both resonances, both Ults and still has some physical shred from her kit.

The 28% DEF scales from Base DEF if I’m not mistaken from other weapon scaling?
But for the dmg bonus for NA and CA that scales of 40% DEF is that base DEF or Max DEF? Any Idea?

im thinking about it as well, my diluc will end up with 77.5 crit rate and 187.2 crit damage along with whatever little bonus the passive gives.

compare that to my current serphant spine set up of 73.9 crit rate and 153.4 crit damage….but the serpent spine passive probably makes up for the slightly lower stats….

    • Redhorn Explained on 28 November 2021 at 3:57 pm
    • Reply

For those wondering, the way the passive works is, for example 1st hit of Itto’s normal attack has 156% of his ATK. The DMG would be:
    [ (156% * ATK) + (40% * DEF) ] * DMG bonus * CRIT (* 0.5 for the DEF of an enemy at the same level)
It’s almost like buffing the talent directly. Given how stacked his DEF will be, during his ult this buff is like double dipping into his pool of 3k DEF he’s going to have. The buff is applied so early in the calcs its potential is insane – it’s why Cinnabar Spindle is so ridiculous on Albedo too.
