Character Details | |
Most people who meet Kaedehara Kazuha for the first time might be inclined to assume that he is just a trainee sailor with the Crux Fleet. After all, he is a gentle soul who enjoys reciting poetry when idle, and who speaks to everyone in a leisurely manner. Who could tell that he is a wanted man throughout Inazuma? Even Beidou, ever the good judge of character, could not tell that Kazuha could wield a sword with the skill of a seasoned warrior when she first decided to take him in. Who knows if it was the storms of life that smoothed out his rough edges, or if his natural restraint has kept his edge sheathed. |

The Crux, an armed fleet from Liyue, spends much of the year on the high seas, and its sailors are quite used to the vagaries of life in other nations. So they were more curious than surprised when an outlander began serving as a sailor on their flagship, the Alcor. The sailor in question was picked up when the Alcor docked at the Inazuman port of Ritou. Beidou had made friends with this young man, and when he came on board, she told her crew, "This guy's gonna be staying with us for a while. Take care of him, now." The sailors trusted Beidou's judgment and admired the newcomer for his martial prowess, not to mention his ability to predict the weather, so they were happy to overlook his reticence to discuss his past, and welcomed him aboard. Still, their curiosity did not abate, and they would often find all sorts of excuses to try and ply him for information about his experiences. "I've heard that they make some sweet blades there in Inazuma and that the bigger the fish you are, the swankier the sword. So, uh... how's yours measure up?" "..." Kazuha would remain silent in the face of all such queries. Over time, after countless attempts to garner a response proved futile, the sailors would simply give up asking. Eventually, it was an off-the-cuff remark from Chief Mate, Juza, just a few days later that finally managed to elicit a reply. "Hey, Inazuma boy. What are the lads supposed to call you if they don't even know your name?" The young sailor wiped the sweat from his brow with his callused hands. "My name is Kaedehara Kazuha, a wandering samurai. I am in your debt for taking me in, so just call me 'Kazuha.'" |
Character Story 2 | |
Unlock Condition | Unlocks at Friendship Lv. 3 |
Kazuha was not born a commoner. He hails from an Inazuman noble house of old, the last son of the Kaedehara Clan. Inazuma City is home to many illustrious clans, and the Kaedehara name was once one of the most renowned among them. But fortune is fickle, and the Kaedeharas' fortunes had already collapsed by the time they were Kazuha's to inherit. As the young master of the house, Kazuha could do nothing but watch as his family's future crumbled around him. But as helpless as this made him feel, when the moment came that the home was officially repossessed and the last attendant was finally dismissed, he breathed a sigh of relief: As far as he was concerned, this was a golden opportunity to begin leading a free and wandering life. He had always longed to roam the mountains and forests, and had held a deep admiration for the beauty and authenticity of nature since his youth. To Kazuha, nature had never been silent. It had always spoken to him, conveying its feelings in its own unique language. When the wind ceases to speak and the world falls silent, that is the calm before the skies begin to weep. When silent springs suddenly leap into activity, it is the omen of a great earthquake. These are the unique poetics that nature has bestowed upon him, and Kazuha was never one to be preoccupied with luxury anyway — so if the burden of family responsibility should drop from his shoulders, why not go wandering, and travel light? Thus did Kazuha strike out on his journey, like a falling leaf in the yard carried away by the wind. |

All travelers who outdoors roam need some skill to call their own. For Kazuha, this is his ability to read the sounds of nature. After leaving Inazuma City, Kazuha wandered here and there. Things were different now: all of nature was his treasured home, and the sounds of wind and water beneath the sight of drifting clouds set his heart at ease. All that he saw on the road filled him with curiosity. It was in this state of mind that Kazuha arrived at a mountain in the south. It was early summer, and the frequent and heavy rainfall had turned the mountain roads to mud. Seeing that night was soon to fall, Kazuha decided to find somewhere to shelter from the rain. No sooner had he had this thought than he turned around to see a small straw hut at the far end of the road. The traveling merchant with whom he was traveling at that time whooped for joy at the sight of the hut: "Kazuha, look! We'll have a roof over our heads tonight!" But Kazuha did not speak. He paused and listened intently for a long while before he finally replied: "If you were to ask my opinion... it may be best to stay away." But the merchant did not wish to remain in the rain. He left Kazuha and made his way to the house. Upon knocking at the door, the traveling merchant was met by a lovely woman who offered him shelter, tea, food, and even bedding for the night. Perhaps it was the excellent food, but the merchant quickly became drowsy and fell asleep immediately after finishing his meal. When he awoke the following morning, there was no roof over his head. The bright sunlight pierced his eyes, and all he could see was Kazuha stood nearby, looking down at him and smiling. Before the merchant could speak, he vomited a great pile of leaves and mud. And as for the bedding upon which he had slept so soundly, ah, it too was mud. Kazuha smiled and said: "The wind is weaker where there are houses. Yet here stood a hut, and there was no change in the mountain breeze. I think you might have been the victim of a bake-danuki's prank. Never mind. Next time, listen more closely to the wind and tread with care." |

Kazuha made many friends during his travels. One of them was particularly close to his heart, and for a time, the two journeyed together. But they too would part, for their destinations were different. To have met merely by chance and then form such a strong bond, there must be a fated connection between them... so, although they would part ways for now, surely they would meet again. Or so Kazuha thought. But something happened soon thereafter that would shatter his calm disposition — the Almighty Shogun promulgated the Vision Hunt Decree and swore to retrieve all Visions. All who wielded them, including Kazuha, were stricken with panic, concealing their identities and going into hiding. It was then that Kazuha received shocking news: Someone had dared to call for a "duel before the throne," and that someone was none other than Kazuha's dear friend. The defeated party in a duel before the throne would face punishment at the hand of the Shogun herself. His friend was prepared to risk all to come before the throne, partly for the chance to fight against a strong foe, but also to demonstrate the meaning of courage to all. And yet, to call for this challenge now, of all times... Kazuha feared that his punishment, should he fail, would be absolute: The Almighty Shogun would unleash her lightning upon him in its full fury, and it would surely take his life. Even the normally calm Kazuha could not restrain himself. He drew his sword and stormed into Tenshukaku like a whirlwind... But alas, he arrived too late. His friend's sword lay shattered in pieces, his Vision now an empty husk. Now a wanted man himself, Kazuha fled with grief in his heart. From that moment on, the days of peaceful wanderings were over, and Kazuha's life became an unending series of battles. Kazuha did not fear battle, of course, but the constant fighting left him feeling lost and perplexed. He did not regret having set out on his doomed rescue mission, nor did he begrudge his friend for leaving him, but he could not help but think... "Is this endless conflict truly the only way to assert one's ideals?" |

The Crux Fleet became Kazuha's new home, and he drifted on the ocean wherever it took him. Trouble still found him from time to time, but no issue was insurmountable with the support of the Crux crew. From his vantage point on the Alcor's crow's nest, gazing out at the azure sea and sky, he finally had the space to think over the tumultuous events of his past and what it all meant to him. "Every samurai wishes to live their life with passion and to claim the greatest reputation possible using the sword in their hands." "But there will always be those whose base desires lead them astray from the path of justice and virtue, and whose blades leave an endless trail of enmity in their wake." "Surely the heavens did not give us fleshly forms and the gods did not watch over our lives all so that we might take up arms against one another." "Then, this sword I wield is not meant to slay, but to save..." "Yes, this shall be my path as a samurai, and I shall defend it all my days." As he reached the conclusion of his thoughts, Kazuha was suddenly inspired to pen down a few verses to serve as a maxim for himself thereafter... but before he could get started, he was interrupted by an irate voice from down below: "Hey, Kazuha, quit gawking at the sky — get down here and lend a hand!" It seemed the maxim would have to wait for another day. Whatever the helmsman, Sea Drake, needed help with clearly couldn't wait. |

Kazuha was just as surprised as everybody else when the Vision briefly lit up during that great battle. For in all the time that he had spent searching high and low trying to find someone who might rekindle it, never had he imagined that he could be the one to cause its light to shine once more. It was almost as if his late friend were lending him his aid from behind the scenes. This empty shell of a Vision not only proved this, but had also brought him many fateful encounters along the way: He had been aided by the resistance, saved and taken in by Captain Beidou, and he had even met the fabled Traveler... In life there were seasons of hopelessness and desperation, but there were also moments of great serendipity. His journey was like the rise and fall of a mountain path — at times, the struggle was all but too much to bear, but there would always be moments when he would touch the clouds. |

Unlock Condition | Unlocks at Friendship Lv. 6 |
The morning mist covered the mountains like a blanket as Kazuha trod a small trail alone. The world was silent. Not a single feather flapped, and not a single cicada sang. Even the roiling waves seemed to have fallen into slumber, leaving just the faint whisper of the wind audible against the silence. Kazuha stuck out his tongue — the air tasted heavy and gloomy. This told him that it would soon rain. He peered into the distance and spotted a plume of smoke up ahead. Below it were several straw huts. Tonight, it seemed, he would have a roof over his head. He informed the owner of the house that a storm was coming. At first, he was met with skepticism, but come noon the rains arrived right on cue. In awe of this wanderer's skill, the master of the house eagerly offered him lodging. The storm raged into the night. Kazuha held his quilt close, and as he listened to the onslaught of rain against the autumn leaves, his mind began to wander. In the time since the Kaedehara Clan's fortune had faded away and he had set off on his journey, Kazuha had traveled across many of Inazuma's islands and had become intimately acquainted with the plight of the wanderer. Moving between islands usually necessitated traveling by sea. Kazuha would make these trips alone, in a small, slow boat, making things all the more perilous when he had to battle against strong headwinds or violent thunderstorms... And yet, there was limitless fascination to be found in this same journey of his, where the vast sky and boundless earth was his home, and all living things that inhabited them were his friends. If one's heart is empty, all under heaven is empty. But if one's heart is pure, all under heaven is pure. With his sword in his hand and his chosen path in his heart, he could go on his way with a song on his lips and with nothing to fear, no matter the perils he may face. Kazuha slept soundly that night, his mind at rest having made peace with his feelings. The next day, he awoke to the sound of birds... and a shining Vision lying upon his chest. |

RIP Kazuha. Heizou is the new Sucrose.
So Kazuha becoming new Ganyu? Right now, thats almost a year without rerun. I’ve skipped the guy back at 1.6 cuz of upcoming Ayaka and Raiden, but both of them already have one rerun despite being released after Kazuha.
And I’ve heard Xiao coming back at 2.7 along with Yelan release, after having his rerun just recently at 2.4. I guess Kazuha really one of those game breaking characters, since MHY obviously trying to delay his rerun as much as possible.
Frick Kazuha, save your primogems for daddy itto
Let’s ignore this Ayaka simp trying to start drama again.
After all those idiotic trolls you made, now you’re using my name and pretending I did not exist anymore? I believe anyone who has seen my previous comments could easily know who you are, Keisuke. You’re the only person who keeps using itto to troll many characters
Literally best male character in the game.
Beautiful animations, decent outfit, romantic heart, but iron will. Wanderer, poet, fighter – what else do you want?
In terms of strength – he just works. Switching him with Venti or Sucrose immediately makes my average clear times worse (obviously you can handpick some encounter where it will be different, I speak about average times against various line-ups). Kazuha vs Sucrose is like Itto vs Noelle, Zhongli vs Thoma, Raiden vs Beidou. Different leagues. I tripled crowned him and he is so strong, that I can use freeze team vs floor with cryo slimes and Kazuha+Mona will blow away them in few clicks. With Raiden and Bennett he acts as sub-dps making most of Bennett’s Q and Raiden’s E adding extra 200-300k damage per rotation through combination of anemo, swirls, overloads and absorptions and matching Raiden carry rotation perfectly. International Childe, Melt Ganyu – 50k XL’s vapes, 200k Ganyu blooms, that’s all Kazuha for you. You dont have Mistsplitter for Ayaka – Kazuha will be your Mistsplitter.
TL;DR Kazuha is anemo Bennett. But with better looks and lore.
1rst: Design and lore = to each their own… so looks wise, to me he’s just canadian Aether, but, hey, that’s just me.
(Forget about exploration, we can do that with EVERY character and it’s ok (what do you need to spend 14k primos just to fly/explore harder?, lmao))
2nd and most important: Abyss/general content: => in case you missed it, this is a PvE game and people can 36* abyss with just 4*/4* weapons, so, yeah, Kauzha salesman, try again.
where I tried to sell him? I am just saying he is best boi.
and yes he is great for exploration as anemo with stamina cost sprint reduction
my unmatched exploration team is Barbara(heal+cost reduction)-Kazu (anemo resonance+cost reduction)-Ning(w Lost Prayer – fastest speed including climbing + mining)-Venti (anemo resonance+upcurrent+bow). I can sprint half of Teyvat with Ningu and wont run out of stamina.
wtf with that copium exploration team LOL even kaeya+rosa/diona shield+sayu+another flex anemo can run faster than ur shitty team. and that btch called ningguang can’t even bunny hop. learn more about exploration in this game first my dude
Even exploration teams have a meta? And of course we have this person here being just as toxic about it. lol
Good thing this is a single-player game, complete with “kick” feature.
my comp is comp which moves lightning fast always in all conditions, has no caveats and most importantly can jump climb any height, you dont need extra swaps and you dont need to look at Kaeya’s tiny ass in his gay clown outfit
what you describe is gimmicky sh*t which everybody tried and benched in 30 minutes. You’ll just get tired of endless swapping and spamming diona shield. Diona hold E moves her back so you need to dash cancel it. Add your bunny hopping and I already imagine how “fun” it is to animation cancel non-stop like in PVP duel just to move around. Try it on mobile too LOL
Rosaria only works half of the time. Are you opening clock and skipping time? Sayu gets stuck left and right. She is best taxi for plain terrain, but in practice you are moving over endless genshin elevations most of the time. Of course, Sayu is cute plus can mine ore and can be paired with Xiao, so she is strong option if you dont have LP and Kazu.
anyway, you can argue about other 2 slots, but Kazu is essential for sprint stamina decrease without necessity to drag Kaeya or Razor around
not to mention he is the only meta unit (aside from Childe), whose passive talent is also useful in combat. That’s how superior Kazuha is.
I bet you dont even have him, that’s why you are promoting stupid bunny hopping which was popular at game release when there was nothing else to do in the game and people were entertaining themselves how they can. I was there, I was doing it all. It gets old fast. Machinegun Fischl, yeeting with Jean, Amber CA cancels, Kayea ice bridges, “wont gliding be faster”, Klee mastery, Mona nukes, physical Keqing, level 40 Chongyun abyss meta, S-tier Qiqi, abyss 7 showcases. All that died in 1.2 after Ganyu release, together with your bunny hoping.
If you came here to check the comments if Kazuha is good, then yes he is good but with that don’t feel pressured to pull for him since even though he is good, he is still considered as a luxury character the same as all 5* characters such as Zhongli, Ayaka, Hu Tao. “Kazuha Mains” are hyping Kazuha too much due to him providing elemental dmg bonus% but that is about it, only providing elemental dmg bonus%. What about the 4VV set that reduces resistances with swirl which Kazuha can take full advantage off? all anemo characters (excluding dps anemo characters) can use it to the advantage of the team. Additionally, you should also give consideration to his design and gameplay if it is your favorite and that you will enjoy the game when exploring along with him. It is great if you truly want him and you should definitely pull for him with all your heart but if you just want to pull him due to the pressure of other players then at the end of the day the decision is on you and hoping that you won’t regret your decision.
someone needs to create a pin mechanism and pin this comment lmfao
Yeah people forget they have sucrose who does the similar job as well(sometimes even better than kazuha). Im still pulling for him for aesthetics but people shouldnt be pressured to pull him purely for meta unless your teams would want 2 sucroses or smth.
Here we go again, saying kazuha is overhyped. Elemental reaction is the core for most of genshin’s combat. all team comp that deal elemental damage can benefit from kazuha with exception for geo and anemo dps. elemental damage is a very rare stat, only available from artifacts and very limited weapons, mostly five star weapon. Many player also hyping him for his fun and practical playstyle. His E and his nature of self-swirling is very useful in many occasion. His E helps with mining, you can use his E to self infuse pyro or hydro for reactions, his double jump helps alot in exploration, it even helps to gathr drops from mobs. His passive even helps for stamine reduction for exploration, which is a big part of genshin experience, bigger than spiral abyss, something that you can totally ignore. yes, you should not be pressured to pull for any units at all, but also dont undermine the value kazuha brings to you account.
I agree a bit for Zhongli since I don’t have him and play Yoimiya a lot, despite people saiyng she is unplayable without him.
But Ayaka and HuTao are unmatched with 4* characters. I won’t call them luxury since they are far better in damaging dealing than 4* options. You can replace Zhong by Noelle, Diona, C4 Yanfei or Thomas for a shielder, Itto with Noelle for Geo DPS, Yelan and XQ have some difference but work for the same characters, C6 Sucrose has DGM% so she is really a little behind Kazuha and better than him for EM (if not C2+ Kazuha) so we can do the job with some 4* characters if we don’t have the right 5*.
Imo, Ayaka, Hutao, Ganyu and Yoimiya are far from the 4* options. (expect for the XL/Bennett duet but you need 2 chars to face one 5*). And Albedo doesn’t have any concurrence for Geo off field damage.
I still want Kazuha, he escaped me with a 50/50 lost at the first banner and I wait him since, with materials, weapon and artifacts (not the best but farming VV artifacts is a pain) ready. He won’t replace Sucrose. I will have 2 anemo chars for the abyss =3
“Ayaka and HuTao are unmatched with 4* characters”
DPS characters can always be replaced, a decently built xiangling with bennett snapshotted deals more damage than a good hu tao. my hutao has homa and decently good artifacts, yet my xiangling with the catch or even the blackcliff polearm is still doing more single target damage than my hutao+xingqiu.
A decently built freeze comp with kaeya, rosaria or chongyun, or a melt quickswap team based around two cryo and xiangling+bennett probably competes with ayaka freeze teams.
Yoimiya has massive multipliers and has gotten a really good buff with yun jin. Still isn’t really one of the best characters out there as a hypercarry and depends on kazuha to work at all.
Ganyu is fucking busted. Not gonna dispute that lol
~ xiangling with blackliff doing better single target damage than good build hutao with homa
~ a decent build freeze kaeya can complete with ayaka freeze team
~ ganyu is fucking busted. Not gonna dispute that lol
this keisuke aka ganyu salesman really can’t stop trolling wherever he go
ayaka, ganyu, hutao is acceptable but that freakin yoimiya with copium single target and heavily relies on shield/yunjin/sub dpses make me laugh. she is on the same level as diluc/klee, another flop 5* pyro dps. don’t even compare her to xl the mhy fav
Kazuha is useless without a strong dps buy the best dps AYAKA
get Ayaka C6 with R5 mistsplitter and you can get 36* in the abyss with Sucrose
You don’t need any C6 5stars to 36* abyss you absolute buffoon
I would expect c6 r5 ayaka to solo everything. Including cryo enemies. What a waste of money.
Just ignore him
It’s Keisuke
We had alot of similar trolls on ayaka’s page
From real ayaka main
This guy don’t even know that we can stop at C4 ? C6 is fun only with C6 Shenhe.
Go away, Keisuke.
Saving for kazuha is he like good for freeze teams I know venti exist but i’d prefer a more universal unit.
hey guys I was wondering if skipping kazuha was the biggest regret I heard many mention that
I’m thinking of skipping new characters such as yelan for him as I am new and wanting the best investment
dendro coming soon and I’m a little worried if these new units can be really suitable or even better
in other case could kazuha be fallen a bit back by dendro I hope not cause I’m wanting to pull for him
but anyways thanks guys I ramble too much
Pulling Kazuha or just any 5 star units in general won’t make you super regret, because you can beat the abyss with what you have.
But digressing that aside, the real question is do you really need kazuha? I know that Kazuha is a really powerful unit and can work almost all team compositions, but the brutal truth is Sucrose exists and some of us didn’t even know that. In certain teams where em comes into play (e.g national) Kazuha works just the same or slightly better than Sucrose. And even if you replace Sucrose with Kazuha (again with teams that play around em) it’s only gonna be the same performance and sometimes mathematically about 5% dps increase according to TCs. And only 5% increase but you have to make 70-90 wishes to get that, not to mention guaranteed 5050.
So to answer your question, you need to know what teams do you usually play. If u are a new player and still forming ur first team (which I don’t think it’s possible if u have benny XL xingqiu and Sucrose in ur acc), then Kazuha is worth pulling for as he will easily fit in any team. But if u play a team with sucrose and the other with something like itto/xiao team (basically non swirling team) then Kazuha is not a good pull for ur acc. Not being able to use kazuha after pulling him is a primo sink.

Kazuha is the perfect character. He’s got it all- beautiful attack/skill/burst animations, thoughtful character design, a balanced to powerful kit at both C0 and C6, he’s F2P friendly, great voice acting, and huge lore significance/story arc.
Picking him up as my first limited five star when I knew jack shit about this game was the best Genshin choice I ever made <3
Copium
Im f2p is sucrose or kazuha better to get
sucrose. kazuha will soon be irrelevant
Kazuha naught be power-crept soon, but Ayaka was power-crept before she released.
The other comment saying Kazuha will be irrelevant is very confusing to me. No character will ever truly be irrelevant in a game where the fundamental balance of enemies and mechanics never change. I’d say go for whichever one you want, but for a more detailed response, I’d say that sucrose is harder to build to be at a place where she’s both strong and fun to play without at least getting her to c2 and getting her a good weapon, like sacrificial fragments. Kazuha will be both powerful and fun right off the bat and can be effective with regular atk, crit or elemental mastery weapons, although obviously he’s geared more towards elemental mastery builds. Sucrose has a very specific kit that takes more time and effort but she’s also a 4 star so she’s always going to be more accessible If you had a choice between c0 kazuha and c0 sucrose I’d choose Kazuha.
ease of use and comfort are kazuhas selling points over sucrose while only being slightly worse than sucrose in terms of reaction based damage buffing he is very valuable for mono element teams
I’m planning to use kazuha as a dps using 2pc VV and 2pc shimenawa, what do you guys recommend for his team comp with this build? Also I’m confused, all of his talents have great scaling including his AA (plunge attack specifically) but i can only use 1 crown for him. Which one his talents should i prioritize crowning? Also don’t worry, i know triple em kazuha exists and it’s a lot better in a lot of situation but i also want to try his dps build just to see some massive green numbers. Thanks. Btw Good luck on his rerun everyone 🙂
i guess if you want dps kazu then bennet is must in comp and i guess you could use xinque and xiangling simply stated national team will be good to see big no. i dont have him saving for him from 2.3 have all the mat and triple crown but if i have to choose 1 i guess his q will be ideal atleast thats what i think so
Thanks. Makes sense because his burst have multiple scaling like the initial slash damage, DoT and the Elemental dmg from absorbing an element.
You should basically always use 4VV, even for DPS Kazuha. He swirls so much that it’s a waste not to get the res shred and extra damage, so keep that in mind.
If you want him to be your main DPS there are a lot of options. You should crown his E if you’re using only one crown, even if you’re using him as your main DPS. The plunge damage from his normals is good, but his skill is very, very strong.
For teams, he has many options. You can run him with C6 Bennett to make him pyro, or Chong for cryo. He’ll perform well here, even if you use him in a freeze comp and he’s constantly shattering, since his A4 will buff any element he has infused on himself, and 4VV also gives him an extra damage boost via res shred.
If you want to run him phys, then throw him with any of the electro subDPS you like (Beidou, Fischl, Miko) and then at least one cryo (Diona, Rosaria). If you have C6 Diona, then the EM buff from her burst is pretty good for Kazuha below C2.
You can also just run him in a national comp as a driver similar to Sucrose (XL-Benny-XQ), in a taser comp (Fischl/Miko – XQ – Beidou), etc etc. He’s very flexible and even building him JUST for swirling is very viable in the current abyss where he shits in multiple floors just by swirling. Throw in XQ to deal with pyro lectors or chong for hydro lectors and you’re basically good even for floor 12.
