Character Details | |
Though many in Liyue are fascinated by life in Yujing Terrace, its day-to-day operations and rules are a mystery to them. They are aware that the Liyue Qixing are the cream of the crop who hold the fate of the city in their hands, but the calculations and data behind the Qixing's every decision are far harder to grasp. The people understand that the new policies announced each year will change the dynamics of the market, yet none can comprehend how policy is plucked from complex meeting minutes and compiled into something easier on the human eye. As the secretary of Yuehai Pavilion, Ganyu undertakes many tasks that ordinary folk do not see. For those that have witnessed her standing by the dock at daybreak, enjoying her breakfast in silence, it is difficult to imagine her in such a post. Even still, by the time the sun has fully risen, she will have returned to Yuehai Pavilion overlooking Yujing Terrace, to continue to fulfill her contract. A contract that she signed three thousand years ago with Rex Lapis. |

Ganyu is not the secretary of any one leader in the Liyue Qixing but is instead the general secretary for the entire organization. Under her gentle exterior, Ganyu is as persevering as stone itself. This was something that Rex Lapis, the leader of the adepti, noticed very early on. Thus when the Liyue Qixing first emerged ages ago, Ganyu was their secretary. Through the years and the changes in the Qixing's roster, Ganyu has remained by their side as a constant. This has also meant that the mountainous piles of paperwork from the various departments and bureaus in Liyue have fallen upon Ganyu's shoulders. But though her workload has increased seven, a hundred, or even a thousandfold, her sense of responsibility has never wavered. Someone once queried as to the source of her motivation and received an answer that was not quite congruous with the question. "What I've done... is nothing compared to what Rex Lapis has accomplished." |

"I work for the well-being of all living things in Liyue." Under almost all circumstances, Ganyu is a very trustworthy secretary. It is hard to imagine anyone outperforming her in the face of such an enormous workload, especially given her unique and penetrating insights into all of Liyue's matters. Nevertheless, her reliability can only be guaranteed under "almost all circumstances." The more important the matter, the more Ganyu strives for perfection, and the more nervous she becomes. Under pressure, her nervousness does result in the occasional error. One such incident occurred during the Rite of Descension, without doubt the most important annual event in Liyue's calendar. Ganyu was three minutes late for the Rite and had to squeeze through the crowd in full view of all. Later on, with a face as red as a tomato, she stammered her way through an unconvincing explanation, all the while apologizing profusely to Rex Lapis in her heart. Her colleagues guessed that there must be some reason for the mistake. Those who did not know her well saw that Rex Lapis did not mind, and thus paid the incident no attention. Those closer to her worried in private, and asked if she needed a workload adjustment or a short vacation, but Ganyu refused. "I spent two hours making sure that I wasn't wearing anything too similar to last year's Rite..." Needless to say, Ganyu was not about to admit to this being the real reason for her tardiness! |

How long is a thousand years? Long enough for the Glaze Lilies that once teemed throughout Dihua Marsh to be wiped out by floodwaters, and long enough for the thriving settlement that sprung up upon Guili Plains to come to ruin in war. How short is a thousand years? To Ganyu, it has felt shorter than the blink of an eye. Throughout a passage of time unimaginable to mortals, Ganyu has been working on all manner of things at Yujing Terrace. She recorded the raising and demolishing of every building, and witnessed the rise to prosperity of every industry. Ganyu's sense of objectivity towards the passage of time comes from the endless reams of data she must trawl through, and from the ever-increasing number of colors she finds that she needs to categorize it all. All this time, her mindset has never changed — she constantly wavers between her human and adeptus halves. On one hand, Ganyu the qilin finds it difficult to comprehend mortal squabbles. But on the other hand, her human blood reminds her always to hold out hope that she might someday be able to fit in. |
Character Story 4 | |
Unlock Condition | Unlocks at Friendship Lv. 5 |
Outside the confines of her work, Ganyu very quickly shows how different she is from most other people. She has a habit of taking afternoon naps and has a shockingly accurate internal clock. When lunch hour arrives, no matter where she is, she will simply curl up into a ball and fall asleep on the spot. Even the raucous dancing of hilichurls will fail to wake her. These habits were at first just a running joke within the Liyue Qixing. But once, after accompanying the then-Tianxuan to lunch outside the city, a well-fed Ganyu simply crawled into the nearest roadside haystack. She ended up being transported all the way to Dihua Marsh, awakening only after bumping her head during the unloading. Unable to find Ganyu anywhere over the subsequent three hours, and knowing that she would not depart unannounced, the Tianxuan almost filed a missing person report. After receiving a stern admonishment to "only take afternoon naps where it's safe," Ganyu retorted: "Well... isn't everywhere in Liyue safe?" Perhaps, with the mixture of human and illuminated beast blood flowing through her veins, Ganyu's understanding of the world's affairs is a little different to that of most humans. |
Character Story 5 | |
Unlock Condition | Unlocks at Friendship Lv. 6 |
Ganyu's qilin heritage is little-known in Liyue Harbor. Whenever she is asked by someone walking along Feiyun Slope as to the obvious protrusions in her hair, she says that they are ornamental heirlooms. "If I told them the truth, they would distance themselves from me..." Despite never having been on particularly close terms with Liyue's citizens in the first place, Ganyu would still not consider distancing to be a good thing. Her more important reason for hiding the truth is to prevent curious onlookers from touching her qilin horns. After all, a qilin's horns are a sensitive part of their body, both physically and mentally speaking. Another secret that Ganyu is anxious to keep hidden is the fact that she is watching her physique. The qilin are strict vegetarians, but Liyue is a veritable powerhouse of gastronomical delights, one in which even vegetarians struggle to control their appetites. Ganyu, who has grown accustomed to city life, is thus very vigilant in matters concerning her weight and physique. Whenever she finds herself being drawn towards some delicious dish, she will attempt to reassert her self-control. For Ganyu, the difficulty of such a challenge is second only to finding a Flaming Flower atop Dragonspine. But she is not one to give up half-way through the ascent. During the Archon War, she once choked a giant monster to death with ease after getting lodged in its throat when it tried to eat her, said monster having fatally underestimated quite how wide her waistline was. For Ganyu, avoiding any similarly embarrassing episodes in the future is an absolute must. |
The Flora of Yujing Terrace | |
Unlock Condition | Unlocks at Friendship Lv. 4 |
Handwritten notes detail the morphological features and behaviors of the plants in Yujing Terrace, with each beautiful stroke penned by Ganyu's own hand. The notes are succinct, comprehensive, and well-categorized, and even offer some insights that one would be hard-pressed to find elsewhere on the market. These include pointers on caring for Glaze Lilies and methods for grafting Silk Flowers. In readability and scientific accessibility, they come close to the standard of official publications. Or rather, this is the experience if one starts reading from the front. Skip to near the end, however, and one may well be left dumbfounded. The final few pages are a shocking rash of black ink and frantically scribbled-out text. Reading patiently and painstakingly between the lines, one might just discover that these notes were, at one time, various methods for vegetable cultivation. "But if I learn to grow vegetables, I'll be even less able to control my appetite." Her hands balling into fists, it was with much difficulty that Ganyu erased the results of her research. Later, whilst watering the plants on an empty stomach, Ganyu found herself plunging her head into a thicket of Silk Flowers, fantasizing that they were Sweet Flowers in an effort to comfort herself. Many more fantasy Sweet Flowers followed shortly afterward during her afternoon nap... |
Vision | |
Unlock Condition | Unlocks at Friendship Lv. 6 |
Qilin are paragons of benevolence among the adepti, drinking only freshwater and eating only plants. Flies they will not hurt, and a bruised reed they will not break. They do not travel in groups, and no trap will hold them. They are leisurely yet composed, active but reserved — a gentle and elegant race. Yet when a wicked beast from the sea arose and threatened the land beneath their feet, they did not stand idle or choose peace when there was none. Three thousand years ago, Ganyu answered the call of Morax the God of Geo, aiding him in the Archon Wars. And when the war was over, she chose to stay in Liyue and help the humans build a new polity there. The first Liyue Qixing would need support, and she took this task up as a matter of course, becoming their secretary. The moment she made that decision, a Vision appeared at her hip, granting her power to resonate with the world to a degree beyond her natural abilities. Whether she would grow strong enough to no longer need it, or whether she would use it as a last resort in Liyue's defense... Regardless, she chose to serve as the bridge between adepti and humans. Her Vision, then, was proof and witness of her new duty. |

For people wondering what is Ganyu’s BiS DPS Artifact set (Blizzard 4p or Wanderers 4p), see below.
If we use this test here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wU_w58r6H1Y take the damage tests and put them on a calculation for total damage done.
w/o counting 1st frost flake you do, if we take a sample of 10 subsequent frost flakes using the same damage stats the video has and normalize crit rate average.
30% crit rate (+20% asc passive), 170% CDMG. +20% crit rate for Blizzards 4p.
1.) Wanders = 5x non-crit + 5x crit = ((5796+9853) x 5) + ((15965+27141) x 5) = 293,775 total
2.) Blizzards = 3x non-crit + 7x crit = ((5304+9017) x 3) + ((14487+24629) x 7) = 316,775 total
As you can see, Blizzard set wins for best-in-slot DPS artifact. Not only that, if you factor in E and ULT damage, Blizzard will be even better. If enemies are frozen, even more again.
Now, this does not mean Blizzard wins in ALL situations. There are a few where Wanderers equals or is better than Blizzard.
1.) Most situations – Blizzard > Wanderer
2.) Enemies can’t be cryo’ed consistently – Wanderer > Blizzard
3.) Enemies are hit on a weak spot every time – Wanderer => (equal or better) Blizzard
4.) Melt – Wanderer => (equal or better) Blizzard
Just for the record, this post is entirely wrong. I’m too lazy to rewrite all the math here, but just head over to the Ganyu main’s discord and check out the spread sheets and guides they have there.
Played correctly Wanderer’s is about 50% more damage out put than Blizzard’s.
The only real arguments to be made is how practical it is to play a melt build with Wander’s in late game content. But given that enemy behavior is scripted, it just takes learning to use it right.
Compared to freeze comps with Blizzard’s which are much easier to use.
Honestly, if you’re playing on a phone or console go with Blizzard’s, if you’re playing on a PC go with Wanderer’s and learn how to do set-ups correctly.
50%? for which situation? and kindly do share the findings as it is very good to compare findings to spot mistakes/differences on perspective.
50% is HUGE. The only situation I can think of is a setup Melt, but even then is not consistent and the setup time must be included in the calculation.
Also saying my post is ENTIRELY wrong is a HUGE claim, especially without info to back it up. Please share as I would like to get into this discussion. I am not saying I am 100% correct, but you can’t just claim everything is false without a proper counter-argument.
It is about melt, he directly has said it one sentence later and 50% is probably the spreadsheet, so theoretical value, always take them with grain of salt.
That being said Wanderer’s WILL be higher damage ceiling choice, with proper melt composition it WILL have higher damage, aside from that Blizzard’s do have higher damage output in most situations (enemies that can get cryo, something like above 90-100% cdmg stat, can’t remember now), but it won’t be that big of a difference (if enemy isn’t frozen, frozen gives edge to Blizzard’s).
In general I’d say: use what you have. If you have nice Wanderer’s set, then by all means go for it, no real point to hard farm for Blizzard’s, which won’t make a huge difference. If you don’t have good Wanderer’s… well good luck farming Wanderer’s pieces, I’d say go for Blizzard’s.
1) Blizzard’s has slightly higher DPS in general use (outside of melt team comps), also works nicely for freeze comp.
2) Wanderer’s gets really BIG damage spike from melt comps, just keep in mind you have to do a set up for this.
Yeah, I didn’t really refer it to melt since it was only mentioned after and the part where he said “entirely wrong”. Which means he is claiming Wanderers is BiS for all situation or at least, in general situations.
All that you said though, I agree and pretty much what I stated in my original comment. Let’s hope a good pyro enabler comes out. That’s pretty much the only downside with have melt comp as a norm for most situations. The setup is tricky and situational.
Also, I forgot to mention it. 50% more damage is NOT Wanderer’s vs Blizzard’s, it’s melt comp vs cryo/freeze comp. Wanderer’s has at most 35% CA damage increase over Blizzard’s for melt comp (and that’s assuming no cryo goblet and 0 elemental mastery). In reality it’s probably between 20-30% depending on stats. It’s still clear that you want run Wanderer’s for melt comp anyway.
It’s not fair to compare the damage of a team comp with just a set of artifact. BS can be increased even further by using the right team comp. For example using Sucrose with VV & TTODS.
Agreed. Using the melt comp / wanderer disable your E and Q, which is very vital as your E is useful to stop enemies keep chasing at you and your Q also deals decent damage and gives nice bonus damage.
E and Q are good only against really big bunches of mobs(at least 5), you can one-shot them with Melt just fine and who then needs to run when there are noone to chase. I`d say that something like C4 Amber(Klee is pretty good too but w|o bait) + Ganyu can work very harmoniusly in the way you wanted – they both can bait the mobs, their baits can deal a decent Melt or at least give the reverse statuses on a bunch of mobs, then you`re just dropping a second bunny/second-level CA/ult and mobs Melt for good.
What I don`t like about the cryo set is that it needs a full cryo party – I don`t want to change the party comp that much right now and dropping Ganyu with Wanderer+Amos+Melt works perfectly without any other changes, while giving more than enough of profit. If there would be Ayaka of I`ll equip Keqing in cryo set with Chongyun`s field for lulz(still works just alright, thanks for crappy electro element), then making a cryo set for Ganyu is really a must.
If by “full cryo party” you mean Ganyu + one other cryo character (preferably Diona for shield and heal), then… maybe? It’s just a 15% crit rate bonus which pairs really well with 4-pc set of Blizzard’s. Outside of that hydro character for freezes and anemo for VV res shred and possibly gathering enemies seem far better pick than any another cryo char.
You didn’t take into account the weapon used in the video. Amos’ Bow increases charged attack damages which reduces the efficiency of the wanderer’s set 4p bonus. If another weapon had been used in this test, results would the results would have been differents.
Let’s say for example that you have the exact amount of attack to hit for 5000 with the charged hit and 10000 with the bloom without taking cryo dmg bonuses into account and 30% crit rate and 200% crit damage.
Wanderer’s = ((5000+10000)*5+(15000+30000)*5)*1.466*1.35 = 593730
Blizzard = ((5000+10000)*3+(15000+30000)*7)*1.616 = 581760
With 30% crit rate and 200% crit damage, Wanderer’s would deal a bit more damage. And this is only if you can apply cryo debuff on the target and without using melt. Of course if you’re using blizzard strayer you should also take the 2 cryo char buff and get 15% extra crit rate but anyway without melting the two sets deal similar damage.
The real difference is that wanderer’s is better with charged shots if you can proc melt while blizzard strayer is better for E and Q damages.
It’s also way easier to get good sub stats on blizzard strayer.
If you want to play a freeze comp go for blizzard strayer and if you want to play a melt comp go for wanderer’s.
You corrected him (which is nice), but you made a mistake (which is not nice). Bonus from Wanderer’s 4-piece set is added to elemental/physical (well, in fact only to elemental, there’s no physical charged shots/attacks for bow/catalyst users). So in your calculations it should be 1.816 not 1.466*1.35.
Idea in general is correct though:
1) if you want big numbers with melt – go for Wanderer’s
2) if you want to freeze enemies and be slightly safer – go fo Blizzard’s
3) if you just want to chill shoot enemies – go for whatever you have, Blizzard’s is slightly better (which is rather hard to put in numbers, because depends on hitting weakspots, E and Q usage, etc.), but not worth fighting for if you have Wanderer’s already.
Sorry, but your first formula is wrong. 1.35 (35% CA increase) is added to all damage increase. Which means 1 + .466 (goblet) + .35 (CA) = 1.81
Wanderer’s = ((5000+10000)*5+(15000+30000)*5)*1.816 = 544800
Blizzard = ((5000+10000)*3+(15000+30000)*7)*1.616 = 581760
Blizzard still wins for DPS criteria on this situation, while obviously, Wanderer will have a higher damage number.
All other you mentioned I agree though and they are the same as I claimed in my original comment.
If you want to pure or mostly charge shots – go Wanderer. If you use your E and ULT always/effectively, Blizzard will be better. If you can consistently do melt, then Wanderer will perhaps be better or equal. I cannot say for certain as it depends on the scenario and setup. But I will lean towards Wanderers as usually for melt, you are going for 1 hit kill on a big HP enemy.
Blizzard or wanderer depend on what kind of weapon you have. For crit rate bow(bp bow, sky harp) I prefer wanderer set with 50% base crr or above. And others bow (amos, etc) if you dont have a really good wanderer set, blizzard is more useful.
I’m so glad i didn’t listen to others opinion that stated “Ganyu is just meh” and “Ganyu is a support”. And spend all my primogems for her and got C1….. she carried my abyss LOL. Doing 25k – 30k with freeze comp and up to 50k with melt comp XD. Overwhelmingly easily outstrip my xiangling with skyward spine DPS XD
I have her C6 , she is pretty good . her ASS + .+
If u need help add me UID 811069530

I have a lot of 5 star char and weapon
I will carry u all = )
Having played with Ganyu for some days already, the only complained i have is that her E ability doesn’t have any IF (i.e. invincibility frame). one would think it might have becos of how it looks visually. but dont be fooled like i was – it doesn’t have any IF. so if you are about to get 1 Hit-KO or trying to dodge a heavy attack, dont think of using E to dodge.
till this day, i still forget about that. sometimes my combat instincts may tell me to use E to dodge……for some odd reason. really odd.
SAME. I always think character Es have an i-frame. Like Mona and Ganyu’s. Unfortunately, they don’t. Unlike other games I played, some character skills have i-frames outside of their dodge skills.
I guess it’s only dodge and ULT for Genshin. Let me know if there are any other.
