I’ve been seeing Genshin YouTuber shills saying for some reason Scarlet Sands is a good generalist option when Homa is literarily on right now.. Do these casual shills not think that you can get the best polearm in the game right now instead of pulling on one of the worst weapon banners in the next coming days? This drives me nuts…
You post this on the last day or 2 of the Homa banner. If players don’t have Homa already, they’re probably out of primos to get it.
Getting Homa is a thing of the past for them.
you probably dont have it and it’s some sort of wet dream of yours.. I have 2 Homas (got while pulling for Elegy back in the days) and outside of Hu Tao they are just nice crit stick, nothing else. Not to mention that CDMG is much easier to build and get then CR. For Xiao it is comparable to his outdated lame standard banner signature, and other characters cant even utilize Homa’s passive fully (outside of low HP showcases)
I think it’s really funny how you’re project about me wishing for it like I would want to pull on one of the worse weapon banners in the game for a mid stat stick polearm LMAO. My point is that if people wanted a good stat stick, they would of just gotten Homa (the best weapon in the game arguably) and not this noob trap banner. 2 fav weapons on the previous banner and this one has 0 and has trash tier 4 stars besides like Dragon’s Bane. Seriously hope you’re joking that anyone would want to pull on the current banner…

Xiangling benefits from atk, ER, EM and Crit, so until they release a 5-star polearm that isn’t remarkable in any of these fields any 5-star polearm is good for her. This also extends to 4-stars and 3-stars.
By far the best weapon in the game. Game defining weapon. As in characters will have to built around the fact that this weapon exists.
Also: If you had the sword equivalent for c6 kazuha, he’d become main dps overnight. 3(4)k attack with 1k EM, and 240% increased normal attack damage, and maybe benett infusions for vape or melt mults for around 6times the damage.
First, the weapon sucks on everyone except Cyno. And even for him: then do what? There is no endgame, and there never will be one. Spend all your money on C6 Cyno with R5 scam weapon then go play card game, or play hide and seek in trash kiddy festival with Paimon screaming about food.
This weapon is insane for any polearm character that can be played around reactions, wdym lmaooo. It lets you build full on EM without caring much about attack and still have insane amounts of attack. This weapon is INSANE dude. If there were equivalents for catalysts or swords, like for example for kazuha, then everyone would be losing their shits.
We are still on the beginning of Sumeru and still have so so many characters to come. This weapon is game changing tbh, and any weapon that works similarly.
Not for HP scaling character tho… nor for characters who plays with bennett. For HP scaling character, either they gain more atk from HP, or don’t scale with atk stats at all, making the passive either not so good, or completely useless. With characters who plays with bennett, the passive become diminishingly irrelevant because atk stats is no longer that valuable, and would prefer dmg% increase where something like 4 star the catch become a much better option.
With that being said, this is the breakdown for those characters:
– Xiangling: Don’t really care with the passive due to the presence of bennett, this polearm is not a dps increase to “the catch”, so just go fishing and you’ll get this weapon’s performance for free
– Hutao: Dragon’s bane is literally better for her and it’s a 4 star weapon. If you want 5 star weapon for her, just go homa
– Shenhe: no
– Rosaria: Same condition with xiangling on reverse melt team, absolute NO in freeze team
– Xiao: no
– Thom.. no
– Raiden: no
– YunjiNo
– Zhongli: NO
– Candeeznuts: hah
Yea, only cyNo wants this, so… yea… “insane for any polearm character that can be played around reactions” is technically almost right, but you’re missing the part that said “also don’t want bennett and scale heavily with ATK stats”, the only character that fits the bill is cyNo.
This weapon is great for Dendro Unit. Imagine playing a Hyperbloom, Quicken, Quickbloom, Burgeon team. Who said Thoma can’t use this? This works great with Thoma Burgeon
It’s technically viable on anyone. It’s like Primordial Jade Cutter; it can act as a statstick and the passive is a bonus.
Then just use PJWS
It’s not 6x the damage. The EM scaling with reactions plateau past 300 EM.
Overkill,with the exception of Cyno, lthis weapon is not BiS for anyone, lExternal EM buffs like Nahida provides,don’t stack with the passive either,it’s just a stat stick for Chars that don’t scale with EM.

Happy to see the educational system going strong as ever. Man what fantastic points that characters that capital C Can’t use the weapon fully aren’t going to – you know – be able to use the weapon fully.
I mean omegalul not even Cyno can use the weapon fully because the EM and Attack just run parallel instead of multiplying.
You, for example, can’t have heavy hitting hydro or pyro characters, because, if you, for example, have a ~600% damage ability (or alternatively, easy access to reactions.), and decent stat spread and getting those elemental reactions, you’re 1 to 2 shotting everything except the hardest bosses in the abyss. And then it’s probably just 4.
I can’t believe I have to explain this, but “When bennet exists” isn’t an argument, when this weapon turns EM into atk at the rate that it does. Kazuha would suddenly give 544 attack with his C2. Kazuha is a power house on his own. Bennet, drop Q and is never seen again. Even doubling the attack, bennet still doesn’t provide extra EM, doesn’t provide more elemental damage, doesn’t provide resistance shred, AND doesn’t provide even 1/10 of the personal damage.
AND YET. you WOULD still usually get bennet, because of the attack, UNTIL you have this weapon. In other words, it just changed how you play the game. But that’s assuming you understand math and don’t think keeping Bennet around out of habit is anything less than embarrassing, and that was obviously a mistake.
Here, I’ll make it simple for you. When you have 1 attack, adding 50 attack, is a 50X increase. That’s huge. if you add another 50, that’s only 2X from the previous increase. That’s 25X less of an increase. OBVIOUSLY you don’t just stack attack. But if you have the 50 attack, add 200 EM, 40% ED, 40% resistance shred, etc – you might be getting 3X the increase.
Is this good for Hutao ?
She can vape, and she uses attack stat, so yes.

This staff is not good for hutao btw, despite me saying that. Dragon’s bane is better than this spear. Though homa is still the BiS. Use dragon’s bane and HP sands, or homa with EM sands.

Hu Tao 2nd BiS in a team with Yelan + Elegy. That’s pretty expensive, don’t you think? Also it looks pretty bad on her.

Assuming your Hu Tao and her team is built for EM, this weapon can be significantly better than Homa.
Looking at both weapons at R5, Scarlet Sands gives a Hu Tao with 500EM around the same amount of ATK that R5 Homa gives you a Hu Tao with 40,000 HP.
In almost all cases, EM actually provides Hu Tao more Vaporiser DMG than HP, but building for EM can be a lot more costly and tedious (as this requires support from characters such as Nahida, Sucrose or C2 Kazuha, a Bow user with Elegy, or any character with instructors).
Building a team with two or more of these factors can net you a Hu Tao with over 1000 EM, which will give her about 2,500 ATK (Compared to the 1400 ATK that R5 Homa with 40,000 HP will give).
This is all on top of the 22% more crit value Scarlet Sands gives over Homa.
All that being said, I’d recommend going for Homa in most cases since it gives a lot more flexibility in how you build your Hu Tao and has no ramp-up time on its DMG (Scarlet Sands requires that your blood blossoms trigger 3 times in order to reach it’s max ATK bonus).

I haven’t skirted around the subject. The weapon banner has an extremely low success rate. It’s gambling and it’s designed to keep you pulling. But what you and the OP are doing like walking into a casino and complaining abut how the odds are against you. Except with Genshin, you can play the game without buying into it at all.
If you think HYV is so scummy, then refusing to spend is the best way to deal. You’re taking up your quarrel with players instead of directing your problem to HYV. Are you afraid they’ll ban your account if you rant and harass people on the official forums?
Exactly. The game is easy af, so spend your primogems on whatever you like. I’m f2p and I’ve been doing the abyss full stars for more than a year, I stopped playing some months ago because I got so bored of everything.
Now cyno, a character ive been waiting for since the beginning is here, so I chose to spend my sumeru primogems on him and his weapon. I don’t need him, I’ve got plenty of stronger character, but I LIKE him, so I pulled for him AND his weapon. And, thankfully, I could get them both, and I’m happy.
He is not the best character, but that’s not importante here.
What is important is to forget the meta and pull for whatever you want and like.

I also wanted to add that I’ve been playing with this philosophy since I started the game, and here I am, having more fun and enjoying the characters I love without caring about that meta. And completing the abyss without problem. But the abyss is boring.
What matters in this game is to enjoy the exploration and the story. So yeah, maybe if you don’t have anything to do more than the abyss every 2 weeks, I advise you take a break for some months/until there is good content (like new regions or events).
You will like the game more that way. I did it, and I don’t regret losing all those days of events and dailies.
