Character Details | In the Court of Fontaine, where the corpus juris is exceedingly well-developed — some might even say convoluted — there are many odd ordinances that can confound and confuse foreign tourists. For example, fruit tarts may not be placed directly on unheated platters, unfinished Fonta may not be intentionally placed in the middle of roads, and one must not forget to trim the claws of pet felines... Violations are thus difficult to avoid. But Fontainians are quite familiar with such matters, quickly ascertaining the gravity of an offense and deciding on a course of action based on the identity of the one sent to deal with the matter. If it is only a member of the establishment's staff, then perhaps a simple debate will be sufficient to resolve the issue; who doesn't enjoy a lively atmosphere? If it is a uniformed Gestionnaire, then all onlookers will have to suffer through an insufferably long-winded admonishment, and it's best to vacate the premises. If it is an officer of the Maison Gardiennage, then the parties involved won't get off scot-free, and may even have to pay fines. In this case, it's best to immediately clarify that you are an innocent bystander, and are in no way involved with the case. However, if the one to come calling is the Captain of the Special Security and Surveillance Patrol with her tall cap and musket slung across her back, along with a squad of Special Patrol officers... Well, that means a particularly vicious case is unfolding, or perhaps a hoodlum is to be violently apprehended, or some fiendish felon has kidnapped a hostage... In any case, the only thing to do in such a situation is to quickly evacuate in accordance with the instructions given by the Special Patrol and give these "Felon Management Specialists" room to work their magic. At the same time, keep a tight leash on your curiosity and do not attempt to conceal yourself in a nearby hidey-hole. seeking to observe their law-enforcement activities from a close distance. Even if you wish to interview them, then wait until their work is done. Most importantly, there's no need to feel unsafe, and even less cause for fear. For as all Fontainians know, any hope criminals have to escape the long arm of the law flees whenever Captain Chevreuse is on the scene. |
Character Story 1 | "If you don't behave, the Special Patrol's going to take you away!" Such is the start of many a scolding given by Fontainian parents to a troublemaking child. Children who have grown up with such threats from their parents, understand very clearly that the Special Patrol will never take action because a child didn't brush their teeth, slept in, broke a window, or swiped a slice of cake. Still, though they have long since matured into adults, they cannot help but stand up a bit straighter when they see Captain Chevreuse, averting their gaze and instinctually wringing their hands, mortally afraid that they might have committed some offense worthy of arrest without having even been aware of the nature of their crime. Yet despite being crystal clear that these fine officers are fighting crime, and regardless of their reverence for such upstanding upholders of the law, it is truly difficult to suppress the urge to tense up... As for this "fearsome, infamous reputation," the Special Patrol themselves are quite exasperated. A member once suggested to Chevreuse that allowing such an "infamous reputation" to circulate is damaging to the Special Patrol's image: "The Special Patrol is an official law enforcement office under the Maison Gardiennage, after all, and if our methods of enforcing the law are more forceful, and the process thereof more intense, it's only because the criminals we deal with are the most vile and violent of them all. So to use the Special Patrol's good name to frighten children really is a bit..." "Why not let Chevreuse give The Steambird an interview? Let our Captain stress that the Special Patrol is a law enforcement organization only focused on dealing with the worst offenders, and everything it does is to safeguard Fontaine's safety and stability, in pursuit of which it would never accost citizens without good cause..." Yet Chevreuse vetoed this suggestion. "If such a reputation has really become so deeply embedded in the minds of the people, and it sticks with them for a lifetime, then there's a chance that when someone considers taking things a step too far, fear inspired by our 'infamous reputation' may pull them back from the edge." "...If so, then there'll be no need for us to actually take them away someday." * Unlocks at Friendship Lv. 2 |
Character Story 2 | As one of the departments central to upholding the binding nature of Fontaine's laws and decrees, the "Court of Fontaine Grand Maison Gardiennage" is a solemn and dignified institution, and all law enforcement personnel must undergo rigorous examinations and instruction. Their every word and action reflects on the Maison Gardiennage, and represents the laws of the Court of Fontaine, so there is zero room for errors or negligence. However, the way the Special Security and Surveillance Patrol of the Court of Fontaine does things is markedly different from other law enforcement agencies. Members are not required to use standardized weapons, nor must they wear uniforms outside of formal occasions... Additionally, after Chevreuse took command of the Special Patrol, many of its members began using muskets as part of their law enforcement arsenals, and some even began to refuse to go on missions with Gardemeks on the basis that not only can an immobile meka block their line of fire, but there's a distinct danger of criminals taking control of said meka and turning them against the squad. Furthermore, when selecting recruits, the Special Patrol will even accept the descendants of criminals whose households had been stripped of all honor... For the sake of quickly solving the most heinous of cases, the Maison Gardiennage is willing to overlook all those issues, displaying great forbearance towards Chevreuse and the Special Patrol. But what they simply cannot abide is how Chevreuse is willing to invite serious felons to participate in cases she is handling as "special consultants." Though Chevreuse stridently maintains that this is purely to catch vicious criminals as soon as possible, many colleagues still believe that relying on lawbreakers to help arrest lawbreakers is an insult to both the laws of Fontaine and those who enforce them. Should such humiliations continue, what dignity would remain for the Maison Gardiennage and the law itself? Faced with such pointed questions, Chevreuse always gives the same simple response: "The greatest insult to the law is a criminal roaming free and unpunished." "And as for the 'dignity' of the Maison Gardiennage, it isn't even worthy of comparison with the safety of the Court of Fontaine." This, too, is one of her father's teachings. * Unlocks at Friendship Lv. 3 |
Character Story 3 | "Monsieur Donatello is an upstanding officer of the law." When Chevreuse discusses her father with others, she always offers this simple, curt evaluation. This is also one of the only two impressions she has of her father from her childhood. Donatello was always busy, leaving hurriedly in the mornings and returning exhausted at night before giving Chevreuse and her mother a hug, gently apologizing for making them wait so long. Sometimes he would return exceptionally late, bringing his daughter sweet treats. Alas, having long since already brushed her teeth, it was also too late for her to have any more sugar. Such gifts were a rare treat, and yet their luster would fade by morning, and so Chevreuse's mother would allow little Chevreuse to lick a bit of cream off before sending said dessert to her father's bedroom along with a cup of coffee. At this time, her father would always be facing a wall covered in pictures and thumbtacks, at times staring blankly at it, at others pacing in circles, smoking, tousling his hair, and sometimes raising his fists in sudden triumph, before slowly lowering them and helplessly pounding the table— Chevreuse bore silent witness to all this, peeping in from behind the door. Sometimes, when she ran into her father on the street, she would excitedly wave, but at most he would return a slight smile before throwing himself back into his myriad tasks. "He's an upright, good man." Her mother, neighbors, his colleagues, and even the kids next door all praised her father thusly. But one day, those colleagues who were always praising her father as an upstanding man suddenly came knocking at her door. Her mother was at a complete loss as she watched them come and go from her home. Though Chevreuse stayed in her room, from the commotion outside her door, she had already vaguely guessed that her father had become a "sinner" like those he had once pursued, and was at that moment awaiting sentencing, and might even be banished to the Fortress of Meropide. "Did Papa... do something wrong?" This was the question she asked the strange adults beside her. After much choking back of tears, the reply finally came: "...Nonetheless, he is an upstanding officer of the law." An upstanding sinner. This became Chevreuse's second impression of her father from her childhood. * Unlocks at Friendship Lv. 4 |
Character Story 4 | Even the most acclaimed authors of Fontaine would struggle to explain to a child why a suspect to whom all the evidence clearly pointed could not be convicted. Why everyone maintained their silence as an innocent officer of the law was falsely accused. Why many who witnessed the crime refused to speak the truth. And why the victim of the miscarriage of justice must pay with their own reputation and future for justice to finally make an appearance. Even harder to explain is why the path to justice must be paved with crime. But for Chevreuse, what was most concrete were the changes in her life wrought by her entire family moving to the Fleuve Cendre. A narrow room, the food less tasty, friends who now never contacted her, and a mother growing more fatigued by the day... Her father's colleagues often came by in plainclothes, bringing all kinds of gifts with them. In addition to their presents, they brought news as well. They told her mother of the appeal they were all working so hard on — not just the Gardes and the members of the Special Patrol, but even several Gestionnaires who oft worked with them — and how despite the fact Donatello had broken the law was indisputable and established fact, and legally speaking his sentence could not be commuted or shortened, they at least could ensure he didn't need to endure further castigation. It was all of scant comfort to her mother, whose worries did not subside. To take care of her mother, Chevreuse didn't hesitate to take up burdens that one as young as she should never have had to shoulder, stepping into the dark currents that swirled through the Fleuve Cendre. Perhaps it was because the residents of the Fleuve Cendre had heard tell of or been on the receiving end of her upright father's care that so many helping hands were extended to her. A well-meaning shop owner gave her a job, and the couple next door often took care of her infirm mother. And when the children of the Fleuve Cendre heard that the child of a Garde had come to live among them, they flocked to her like plaintiffs and defendants, seeking her arbitration on all manner of quarrels and disputes. "Chevreuse! You gotta uphold justice, y'know!" So cried the children with one voice, before laughing as one. They did not truly intend to allow Chevreuse to determine who was at fault, but rather saw it all as merely another game. Yet the next day, Chevreuse brought a thick stack of legal materials when she went to see them, along with a notebook newly opened to the first page, and began speaking to the chortling children in a tone most serious. "Very well. Let both sides present their evidence." And from that day forward, the Fleuve Cendre had one more enforcer of the law — the littlest one around. But unlike the law enforcement officers aboveground, all judgments rendered by Chevreuse were executed under her personal supervision. There in the sewers, she learned many ways to ensure that "justice" would be upheld. * Unlocks at Friendship Lv. 5 |
Character Story 5 | "...Then, Ms. Chevreuse, in accordance with the findings of this court, your father did indeed violate the regulations of the Gardes, leaking secret intelligence regarding a serious case, and for this reason, he was exiled to the Fortress of Meropide." "From that moment onward, you followed your mother and moved to the Fleuve Cendre... As for your father's charges, and your experiences while living in the Fleuve Cendre, please provide a supplementary statement for this court." "Regarding my experiences living in the Fleuve Cendre, my statement is as follows..." Her father, Donatello, exiled for violating the law. Her poverty-stricken family forced to move to the Fleuve Cendre. A child of a sinner, unable to work for the Maison Gardiennage, and thus seeking to fight crime as a member of the Special Security and Surveillance Patrol... As the Captain of the Special Patrol was hearing her case, Chevreuse found herself explaining herself and reading her statement over and over. Having finished serving his sentence, her father Donatello was now serving in the Special Patrol. He had pored over her statement, and it had nary a single mistake or blemish. Though it had been a long time since he was ousted from his former post, Donatello still understood the Maison Gardiennage's thinking. If Chevreuse was to take up the post of Captain of the Special Security and Surveillance Patrol without issue, she would need to provide the good folks at the Maison Gardiennage with a sufficiently "decent" statement, such that they might clearly and firmly — yet with a bit of wiggle room — announce her appointment. Chevreuse was no longer a child. She knew full well that her father had leaked classified intelligence regarding a major case to utilize the resulting interest from the press to assist in investigating that criminal. After her family moved to the Fleuve Cendre, the Gardes who visited — ranking officers among them — had surreptitiously provided aid, so their situation could not be considered too dire. Furthermore, the officers and members of the Special Patrol had made preparations ahead of time for Chevreuse to learn from them in the field, learning all about the relevant work in advance... But saying all of that would be of no help to Chevreuse in taking over as Captain. Though Donatello was still uneasy about his daughter following in his footsteps, she had completed all the training he had prepared for her. Chevreuse had given it her all, passing even those trials designed expressly to frustrate and vex her. As Chevreuse plunged forward in the bone-chillingly freezing winter seas, it seemed to take every last ounce of Donatello's willpower to stand still and watch instead of running forth to cradle her in his embrace. As Chevreuse swam back to his side, trembling and shivering, Donatello knew that his daughter was stronger than he was, and even more suited to uphold "justice." But today, let all of that be washed away into eternal silence amid the waters of the Fleuve Cendre. For this father and daughter who long ago had swum together in the icy winter seas, it was now time to take a step forward. "...My father violated Gardes regulations. The evidence of his guilt is conclusive, and the results of the hearing were correct." With her final assertion of the facts of the case, Chevreuse folded up the draft of her speech. Hereafter, justice would make its appearance, all in good time. * Unlocks at Friendship Lv. 6 |
The Special Security and Surveillance Patrol Type-II Standard Musket | Compared to the initial configuration, the improved version of the Special Security and Surveillance Patrol's standard musket features a modified butt stock that better fits human shoulders, as well as a longer barrel. Some specialized Type-II muskets feature all-purpose rails attached below the barrel and to the stock. Scopes, grenade launchers, smokescreen launchers, sonic boom launchers, and all kinds of melee weapons are among the various accessories that can be attached to the mounts, allowing them to be adapted for virtually any kind of combat mission. However, while she was modifying muskets to improve the team's combat capabilities, Chevreuse also raised the evaluation standards for firearms proficiency, adding several requirements not related to firearms themselves, such as unarmed combat. "The raison d'etre for the Special Patrol is capturing criminals, not strutting around showing off your gun!" "What are you gonna do, refuse a mission if you can't bring your musket?" And thus, thanks to the Type-II Standard Musket, the amount of training required vastly increased once more. Naturally, Chevreuse herself completed 100% of every single training program. Seeing their captain standing strong like an ironwoman in the middle of the practice field, the members of the patrol spoke out spontaneously, yet with one heart and one voice: "Captain, please have mercy on us...!" * Unlocks at Friendship Lv. 4 |
Vision | The Captain of the Special Security and Surveillance Patrol, Chevreuse, rarely discusses how she obtained her Vision of her own accord. To others, she says the reason is because the authority and prestige of the Special Patrol comes from the law and justice. By focusing too much on "Visions," it would only create misunderstandings. To preserve the law's standing, it is better not to discuss such things. But those close to Chevreuse know that this Vision is much more akin to a heavy burden for her. After Chevreuse joined the Special Patrol, she used her extraordinary talent and perseverance to complete all kinds of internal training programs, memorizing every rule, regulation, and standard for Special Patrol operations along with the related statutes. Without question, she was first in her class, and her pursuit of "justice" was widely admired by other members. But the officer in charge of them, Vice Captain Grizzetti, disagreed, and he never selected Chevreuse for field missions. Other members could only guess why: Perhaps it was to protect her? After all, he was once close with her father Donatello, and had taken care of her. They were so close that Chevreuse was said to call him "Uncle Grizzetti." Or maybe he was planning to groom her to take on some particularly important job? Chevreuse didn't think about such complicated matters. After the sixth time she was excluded from a mission, she could bear it no longer and finally asked the usually amiable Uncle Grizzetti why he never chose her for fieldwork. "You're not ready." Came the reply. "Fix your conception of justice first, Chevreuse. If your understanding of it is limited to an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth, then it would be best for you to leave this place. This is not some lynching site. This is where the voice of justice must ring true." At the time, Chevreuse had not yet grasped this, nor did she even know just when she would be ready. Perhaps she would spend her entire life trying to understand. Or perhaps she would have to be ready the very next second. Soon, Grizzetti found himself shorthanded during an urgent mission hunting down a gang of notorious criminals. With no choice but to call on Chevreuse, he repeatedly warned her to stay close, follow orders, and not act without permission. And then it was time to move out, and the various members filed out into the howling tempest to close off every possible route the gang of criminals could take. Chevreuse and Grizzetti concealed themselves behind some shrubbery, but the criminals did not appear. Just as the two of them began to think their intelligence was mistaken and were preparing to withdraw quietly, a shot rang out from a hidden position, and Grizzetti was struck. Chevreuse counterattacked nearly instantly, using the muzzle flash in the darkness to sight the criminal's position before hitting them with a single precise bullet. But Uncle Grizzetti had already sunk into eternal silence. Now, only Chevreuse and the killer remained. The howling wind and torrential downpour would conceal the sound of another gunshot, and the Special Patrol... They might not inquire too closely in the case of how this fiend who had murdered one of their colleagues had been shot dead. But more importantly, the killer was right in front of her. If she wished to carry out justice, now was the time. She lifted her musket, aimed right between his eyes... and then lowered the gun. The Special Security and Surveillance Patrol speaks only in the name of justice, and true "justice" can only be decided by the courts. Perhaps this was what it meant to be "ready" to become a member of the Special Patrol. "This is the Court of Fontaine Special Security and Surveillance Patrol. You are under arrest." No sooner had she finished speaking than the killer began to hobble away, seeking to flee without the slightest hesitation. With the crack of a musket, the man was struck squarely in his right leg. He cried out in agony, cursing as he rolled on the ground, finally coming to a stop before the feet of the other Patrol members who had rushed over. The "justice" of the law is meted out by the courts, but as for Chevreuse's own personal justice, that is carried out by her alone. As Chevreuse finally completely lowered her musket, she had yet to notice a Vision was now hanging from the stock. In the lashing wind and rain, its glow was not readily apparent, much like justice yet to be revealed — pale and dark. * Unlocks at Friendship Lv. 6 |

Any thoughts for Cyno as the driving DPS in Chevreuse’s team?
So let me compile some thoughts as to why he would be good here.
1. His better teams in quickbloom are extremely premium: Baizhu, Furina, and Nahida- a luxury healer, and two archons.
2. Unlike his premium quickbloom teams, he doesn’t make best use of the buffs as his uptime overextends the buffs and debuffs of other characters/supports like Bennett, Kazuha, Fischl. Not the case in Chevreuse teams with that 30s buff and debuff that refreshes with each overloaded, plus has a battery through C1 Chev.
3. Considering knockback being overloaded’s biggest problem, Cyno closes distances between himself and enemies pretty swiftly as he lunges within the normal attack chain and in his skill
4. His other teams recommends him having IR, but in overloaded, he will continually stunlock enemies to prevent them from landing hits on him.
5. Cyno double dips into EM, which boosts his overloaded AND his talent damage, so the reaction itself is providing damage utility.
And compared to Raiden, he loses less opportune teams where Raiden has very many teams she can be played in more comfortably than overloaded such as hyperbloom, hyperfridge, hyper Raiden, rational, Furina taser, or wherever else, while Cyno has only belonged to quickbloom.
Thus, Cyno gets a big dub from Chevreuse as he finds another team he can belong to.
idk if youve actually played cyno but he really isnt that good for closing distances
the one attack on his normal attack chain that does it is pretty late into it and most of the time it is skipped when using skill
and the skill that closes distance is outside of burst, on burst it barely moves him
I did some calculations a while back and Cyno with Chev (at C0) is a little but more personal dmg than aggravate but just play him in hyperbloom or quickbloom at C0
The big atk buffers like Bennett and Sara can not compare with Cyno’s field time at all so I really don’t recommend it
How would you play quickbloom without Baizhu though? In hyperbloom, the off-field abilities don’t last as long such as Beidou with 12s or having to recast Nahida during second wave, or Yelan’s not lasting nearly as long as you want it to. Chevreuse is basically an atk buff that lasts long enough for Cyno and the res shred that lasts long enough for him as well and better competes in AoE than attempting his quickbloom in AoE. And Bennett isn’t overall necessary for him either even if the atk is juicy.
A Cyno overload team basically gives Cyno a different set of issues in AoE, but probably feels better since AoE nowadays have more medium-weight enemies than lightweight so Cyno reaches enemies closely.
The problem there is Cyno is em scaling, and without reactions his damage is mediocre at best
For quickbloom you’d just have to use dendro MC if you don’t have Nahida
While in his burst, it is true that his range shortens, however in terms of enemies, most recent enemies that have come out are considered to be “medium sized enemies” so they usually wont, if anything will barely budge to the overload reactions. for example, going up against the specialist mek bots or the ruin bots (guards, cruisers, defenders, scouts, etc), some eremites even wont really stagger much let alone fly away from the overload reactions. having a cyno + chev team dedicated for abyss runs with these types of enemies totally could work. I also believe that cyno is lacking in other teams and could use more.
I saw some people call her the Chev Ruse. Seems about right.
Like sure her kit seems good on paper but then you realize, it only functions when overload happens. No overvape, no quickburn, nothing, just overload.
Oh but bosses don’t take knockback right? Well, not really, they do take some knockback, just less than average, but they still take it and talking by personal experience sometimes it might be enough to push some out of range.
And on top of it all, she has no off-field application to enable herself.
Good luck to anyone trying to make her work.
I don’t need luck, just skill.
ok 👍
ok 👍
You’re coping hard. Overburn and overvape still works with her. You’re nto losing the entirety of her kit.
SO let’s go over that topic. What does Chevy lose if she isn’t solely electro+pyro team?
1. Off-field res shred.
2. An atk buff solely to the non-pyro/electro character so characters like kazuha, Nahida, hydro cahracters like XQ, Yelan, or Kokomi don’t get affected.
3. C1 energy gain caused by overloads.
Not too big of a deal is it? If Nahida’s EM boost compensates for the loss of res shred, then you’re not losing much. Kazuha also groups up enemies and res shreds for longer despite being an actively triggered res shred.
So even in practice, Chevreuse would be good. Despite not having off-field application, she is the only character we know so far that counteracts the knockback force of overloaded. her burst knocks enemies towards her as does her C2 after casting her skill. Overload’s not gonna be a big deal considering the res shred applies to enemies regardless of distance as long as overloaded occurs.
You’re probably gonna find her pretty awesome in a Raikou overload team (Yae + Bennett), which I coin as Raigeki, named after the infamous YuGiOh spell. The best characters to fill in the team are Yae, Raiden, Bennett, XIangling slightly less, Yoimiya, Yanfei, and Dehya. Dehya best for comfortable amount of off field pyro app, Yoimiya for on field pyro dps, Raiden for on field electro dps, and Yae for off field electro, but beidou especially for Yoimiya on field dps.
“You’re coping hard.” >proceeds to cope harder
this community is so funny istg
not true, the pyro\electro only is for coordinated attacks and debuff effects in her talent “Vanguard’s Coordinated Tactics”. however her “Vertical Force Coordination” talent does buff pyro and electro characters but the only restriction is triggering overload to activate chevs overcharged ball in her skill. Example, (Chev, Dori, Hu Tao, Xingqiu) Dori can be designated healer, Start off with Chev’s skill and use Dori’s skill to trigger the overload, then use Xingqiu’s burst and skill and dps with Hu Tao or for melt switch Xingqiu\Hu Tao for Ganyu\Yoimiya. Chev has 30s for her support so that should be enough time for a full rotation. another team could be (Chev, Miko. Kazuha, Neuvillette). Have Kazuha swirl electro and Chev trigger, Miko would benefit from both Kazuha and Chev support while Neuvillette Tasers everything. My point is we can find ways to put Chev on all kinds of teams and be of use. We can’t just label her as “trash” just because she doesn’t sit on overpowered\meta teams.
1. Didn’t label her as “trash”
2. Attempting to melt with electro on the team is a no-no, go learn your basics in EGT
3. Dori as an extra healer on a Hu Tao team when Chev already heals and Hu Tao doesn’t want it or even need it when she isn’t paired with Furina?
4. Not gonna even make a comment on that Neuv team
Just ignore him. He likes to pretend a unit is good and useable then shoves it into a team with Bennett, Xiangling and Kazuha.
People say Klee is clunky because of her built-in knockback (some say it’s the cancels but other characters who have similar gameplay don’t get called clunky as much)
I’ve even seen some people say Kazuha is clunky, the one others say it’s just press button and win.
Even if her buffs are “good”, be prepared for the storm of people saying she is clunky once they realize the drawbacks of overload are still there.
Not so much. She seems designed for characters that can either chase down, or have large atk arcs or range. Is she going to be good for some memey overload Hu Tao or Xiangling? Probably not. For characters like Yoimiya, Klee, Dehya or Raiden, she’ll be a good replacement for Kaz though, especially at C6. Is it going to make overload worth using? Time will tell, but for those that want her, I don’t think the overload knockback will be as much of a problem as people think.
Another thing people often forget, her buff at C6 is stronger than Kazuha’s. Venerer is NOT an inherent part of his kit, only the ‘up to 40% elemental dmg increase’ is.
it will be a problem and people will complain, that’s this game’s community, im just pointing it out
and kazuha doesn’t have ‘up to 40% elemental dmg increase’ anywhere in his kit, he can give more, it’s just difficult to reach more than 1k em but C2 or Diona’s C6 give an extra 8% elemental dmg each, and if you somehow reach 1,5k em (buffs included) then he’d give 60% elemental dmg bonus which is what chev’s c6 gives
Thanks for clarifying his buff, I thought it capped at 1k EM like Hyperbloom, the joys of being Version 1 I guess. But my point stands, her buff at C6 is at worst, equivalent to Kazuha, with a fraction of the effort required to achieve it. Hopefully we get similar units for Hydro/Cryo and any other combo of the four elements. People love to complain in this community that’s true. It’ll never change, nor would I want it too as the salt mines provides endless hours of laughs.
Chevreuse will eliminate some of the drawback of knockback in overload since her burst has an imploding explosion effect, knocking enemies back to your character, as does her C2. It won’t eliminate the overloaded knockback of other characters, but relieved to see some counteracting force from both Chevreuse’s Burst and Elemental Skill given she is C2.
Overloaded team is gonna heavily prefer ST or small group chambers and domains, but it will also prefer ranged attackers like Yoimiya but Yanfei even more given her lack of projectile drop and her instant projectile anvil. Also helps out Yae Miko over Fischl since Oz’s range is a little too short for constant overloaded, but also helps out Raiden’s and Dehya’s lunging movement during their burst form.
I really wish she wasn’t HP scaling for her buffs. I was really excited to use Scarlet when I heard overload buff but, alas… it is HP yet again.
I also wish we had more supportive weapons and artifacts. I really hate Bennett and want to substitute his utility with other means but… because how Artifact farming is I just keep thinking, “why should I try to farm other sets to try new teams if I know I won’t get the pieces to try said teams and I can just rely on what I have now?”
that’s why I’m pulling Navia and bailout, this game is more stagnant than people think but as many have invested a lot of time and even money they won’t leave even if it’s painful cause they are way too invested, same here but I don’t have the time to not enjoy a game because they are being overly greedy and slowly killing the game to promote rails instead of having two super lucrative games
@ SSDCZX
precisely, perfect point. That’s how gatcha works on addiction, plus money invested ofc. Imagine someone who has spent thousands over thousands… how can he quit the game? but imagine again someone who has been f2p, always, since day0.
Nothing spent…
i guess it’s too easy to imagine which situation is more comfy to deal with
Honestly i dont get it, its game with tons of exploration and quests, getting better with each region, then again i built like 4 different teams in 2 years and a half, but i just jump in do the new stuff and bail out. Came here to look how the new unit looks and all i see is just people doomposting. Is everyone playing the game wrong or am i playing it wrong ffs
Nope you dont. I play Genshin since release, low spender at best and I stay for nice Characters (their Design and personality, not more), exploring new regions and enjoying the good story in a pretty fantasy world. Let the people flock to other games like starrail if they want and have more fun there… Let them doompost to their hearts content… let them not understand that people enjoy different things, that people have different tastes and different priorities…
At the end of the day it should always and only boil down to yourself and what you enjoy in a game, no matter what other people say and especially in a non competitive PVE-Game like Genshin is.
@wumbo I hate Bennett too. I will leave him Level 1 forever as someone who started with Qiqi C1, I’ll be forever salty how my first 2 5*s were completely useless while this 4* the most broken unit for years at C1 with little investment.
It’s just a shame that we’re stuck with Bennett until they finally give us a viable alternative ATK buffer, and even then, the lack of Bennett’s utility would be killer. Like someone else mentioned somewhere else on here, I also doubt we’ll ever get a dedicated pyro buffer because of how busted that unit would have to be to replace him. Unless they make Murata that replacement I guess.
Well, with that new healing set looking like a dud, I suppose I’ll be looking for… Gosh dangit where’s the 5 star instructor set? Bennett already has Noblesse and this would be the perfect opportunity to easily sneak in some added Overload damage to make the reaction a more desireable.
Noblesse is likely to be Chevreuse’s best set, but if she is being used with Bennett (who is the better user for Noblesse) then I think going for Emblem (for offensive Chevreuse) or Ocean Hued (for healer Chevreuse) would make sense.
Instructor’s , despite being only a 4* set, can still be a good choice. Main issue is that Chevreuse’s personal damage and healing is actually quite decent, so you are losing a bit more than usual by using Instructors and getting the lower stats.
Unless I’m missing something, Clam’s not a great call. At talent lvl 9 with an HP sands, clam will net you right around 3500 damage every 4 seconds before phys resist, if they’re in range of the pop, which may be tricky for a lot of enemies considering you’re going to be exploding them away from you. Better to go 2pc HP% for more heals and synergy with her ascension passive, imo
Also, even though I think Emblem’s going to be good on her no matter what, at C4, 2pc Pyro/ATK% also becomes compelling since your ER needs will be lowered, and The multicast will pair well with Fischl or Raiden letting her potentially fire off multiple overcharged balls in one rotation that wouldn’t benefit from Emblem.
I would imagine that Instructors would be better on Bennet and Chevereuse would be the one going Noblesse given that Chevereuse cares more about artifact stats than Bennet dos
Just use Noblesse on Chevreuse and Instructors on bennett where both are used. Otherwise, it may unfortunately just be 2pc 2pc HP set mixups so you must have at least fared the Vourukasha domain once or several condensed resin worth for the other 2pc portion. I’d probably go with Golden Troupe for dmg, Noblesse without Bennett, Lavawalkers in some teams, Thundersoothers in others, or Thundering Fury to spam the Overcharged Shot often.
Just to talk about weapons for a sec, Prospector’s Drill seems practically tailor-made for her as a sub-dps, at least with some refinements. Missive Windspear’s tempting, but she’s not gonna be the one triggering the reactions consistently, so you won’t actually benefit much; Deathmatch is probably a close second or on-par depending on refinements, for support it’s either Rightful reward or black tassel depending on your ER needs or how close she is to 40k HP for the full attack buff.
For 5-stars, Staff of Homa is the best of both worlds, basically giving her HP scaling, and Calamity Queller is… actually pretty comparable to the Drill in this case, with 176 more base damage and 9% less elemental damage, with a nearly identical ATK% bump when both weapons are at R1. The base damage gives it to the Queller at R1, but an R5 Drill gives roughly 20% more ATK and *27%* more elemental damage, so if you pulled 5 of these things back when you were trying to get Wrio’s BiS awhile back, you’re actually kinda ballin’ with Chevy.
(Also Lithic Spear chads can run Keqing-Beidou-Xiangling and never look back)
dont be fooled by her passives when shes tied to such a bad reaction, but i guess its as expected from this flop of a region to have characters with such cringe limitations
dont tell me what to do.
i think youre missing that she is giving the equivalent of a C2 Raiden + Bennett attack buff + half of Sara’s entire passive. you can even effectively run her on a mono electro or pyro comp if youre facing element infused enemies or areas (a constant in abyss). Her buffs are the definition of powercreep. i dont know what you mean by a flop either. Furina is insane. and the only other 5 star is Wriothesley, who is at least on par with Itto at c0. The story isnt rushed garbage either. Overload is a bad reaction, but thats the entire point of her kit. unfortunately it means we wont get an overload rework, as she is the rework sold to us at a price of c6.
wdym the only other 5 star is Wriothesley???? what about Lyney and Neuvillette? lol
“she is giving the equivalent of a C2 Raiden + Bennett attack buff + half of Sara’s entire passive.” no shes not
“she is giving the equivalent of a C2 Raiden + Bennett attack buff + half of Sara’s entire passive”
This line is peak comedy
40% RES shred < 60% DEF ignore
40% atk < 100% of Bennett's atk (c0 crowned)
And by "half of Sara's entire passive" what do you even mean? the atk buff is on skill, a.k.a. an active + that was already "Bennett attack buff"; maybe the A4 ER one? then Chev's C1 actually gives more with less effort; or perhaps you mean both C6? then 60% elemental dmg isn't half of 60% crit dmg.
Oh, what could it be I wonder, other than made up nonsense?
Funny you say it’s less than 100% of Bennett’s atk when Bennett’s atk will only beenfit snapshotters so characters like Fischl, Yae, and Raiden won’t be able to have full uptime on Bennett’s buff and you wish to play circle impact with overloaded.
Do remember that Chev is also a capable off-field battery (especially C1). No more quickswap batterying characters. You only need to overload and as long as they are on-field, bam, 6 energy given.
Chev also shreds resistances without having to be on field. That is terribly different from Kazuha’s which is strict on being on field and capable of double swirling the elements.
She’ll pretty much mitigate many AoE issues of Yoimiya and also keep distance from enemy so they don’t approach and stun her.
I find it funny that when I said Klee > Lyney because of multiple reasons, one being that she has no restriction on her dmg unlike Lyney’s passive (enemies need pyro aura) people were saying abyss doesn’t usually have self-infused enemies.
But now to defend Chev’s kit from another me it is, and I quote, “a constant in abyss”
Quite hilarious to say the least.
The bad reaction won’t have much of a problem for characters you’d likely use with her over hydro characters, so Klee, Yoimiya, Dehya, and Yanfei for options, which either chase enemies or have range on knocked back enemies. Additionally, Chevreuse doesn’t need to be on field to res shred compared to Kazuha or Sucrose, who will need to reposition to get most if not all enemies spread out resistance shredded. Furthermore, Chevreuse also has counteracting force on knockback being a knock-forward from her Burst, and Elemental Skill at C2, so basically the core of Chevreuse’s kit doesn’t do knockback when you have C2.
Additionally, a lot of the characters you’d use with Klee are ST so you’re encouraged to play ST with Chevreuse, eliminating the issue of knockback from overload.
Overload in itself is fine for anything other than mobbing content (which is rare in floor 12). Regardless overload damage isn’t the point of her kit and she doesn’t directly buff the reaction in anyway. What she is though is a solid 4* buffer for Pyro or Electro carries that rely on talent damage over reaction damage. Chevruese + Xiangling is an a comparable replacement core for Sara and Kazuha in Raiden hyper. Overload also doesn’t remove the pyro aura from enemies allowing her to be run in Lyney teams.
She isn’t crazy good but she is above average for a post launch 4* even below c6. Also, she can be built for damage since she’ll generally want to be run with Bennett (no need to build into HP on her). She can front load a respectable amount of damage if built for it. Has low field time and low energy needs due to her desired team architypes.
Overload does take away pyro tho.
Unless you use units that apply 2U pyro (like benny) it’s going to take away your aura with just one reaction and there’s no off-field 2U pyro applicator, Xiangling’s or Dehya’s pyro can be taken away pretty easily by most off-field electros and those who don’t are other healers.
I really don’t see her being that viable as Lyney’s teammate.
This isn’t wrong, a fast electro applier will likely hurt the pyro aura uptime
I can see it working better with a slow applier like Yae though
Yae isn’t a slow applier tho, there’s a reason why she’s good in aggravate.
Yes, her turrets share icd, but that isn’t “slow”, each time their turrets hit (very often) they will apply 1U.
sorry i meant to say each wave of her turrets hitting, just realized what i said might give the wrong idea
man really got toxic reaction for stating facts, yall hating the truth?
I’ve noticed that people dislike me just because of my name most of the time, not because of what I say. Usually I even try to avoid being as toxic as others are to me but hey I have a name they don’t like so everything I say must be incorrect and just hating; or at least that’s the way people seem to think about me lmfao
sad that the banner has benny instead of yun jin, i already got his c6 + his cons are actually barely needed
maybe just a little better than Kazuha for overload teams in c6…
but her buff is extremely easy to be actived, effects both Pyro/electro elements and works equally on Off-field and On-field characters.
we know arlecchino is Pyro and there will be many Pyro characters in Nathan.
chevy may become the most op character but overload is too ordinary for “new pryo”
Seems like Nathan is a playboy
He just likes pryos leave him be
let’s make it short, limit your team comp but enable unique team comp, damage is not much but can heal, insane utility.
notable stuff she does:
1. 40% pyro & electro res shred
2. 40% atk buff
3. 60% pyro & electro dmg bonus
must have to have fun with new team imo, but overload won’t change the meta tho, right?.
I want her!!! She looks like Pom Pom from Star Rail! ❤️
https://youtu.be/jpAB2nYIITw?t=666
yeah, kazuha is def comparable to chevr
totally fair
to me she’s the classic mediocre 4star.
not bad but not good either, and her first and last flaw is being pyro (guess why)
I’d have preferred 1 billion more a GEO buffer, and utopistically stackable with inazuman dog. Like a better faruzan, geo shred and geo dmg bonus, hence something which can buff even itto… and make him more relevant…
but yea we ask too much to shittoyo
How is Chevreuse mediocre? She pretty much counteracts any issue that overloaded causes within her kit. Enemy getting knocked back too far to res shred? She does so off field from just the reaction triggering. Enemies get knocked away? Her burst and C2 of her skill will knock enemies towards your character. Additonally, she is our second pyro healer. Furthermore, a buff that outlasts many of other buffs so hey, overload Cyno would be interesting given his chase playstyle, EM scaling, and the buff that lasts throughout Cyno’s burst.
The only really mediocre thing about her is the elemental reaction she is paired with. Overloaded is treated as an enabling reaction rather than a transformed reaction by Chevreuse. She at least uses spontaneous explosions to offset knockback, but unfortunately applies to her.
