Character Details | Candace, who has heterochromatic eyes, serves as the guardian of Aaru Village. Candace always shows the greatest kindness to all travelers visiting the village, and she will not pursue an inadvertent faux pas so long as that person corrects themselves in time. In Candace's view, the village rules are the most important thing. So long as these boundaries are respected, anyone can be allowed to rest in Aaru Village. But woe betide those who regard this tolerance as weakness. Those who try to do anything illegal in Aaru Village will definitely pay the price. By then, they will find that Candace's lance and shield truly are the most frightening of weapons. The scion of Al-Ahmar, a member of desert folk, the Guardian... Candace, burdened as she is with multiple identities, also bears the eternal responsibility of guarding Aaru Village. "This village only welcomes those who can follow the rules." |
Character Story 1 | "Aaru Village is the final refuge for King Deshret's descendants." "The mission of the Aaru Village's Guardian is to guard the village till the last of King Deshret's people fade away." When Candace was officially appointed as the new "Guardian" at the tender age of eight, the one who handed the position over to her admonished her as such. With King Deshret's death, it was already a blessing that his descendants might have such a refuge from the world. And so, generation after generation, the Guardians take up their duties in silence, defending countless villagers until they pass on as the "descendants of King Deshret" and gain eternal peace. It was once the common wish of the residents of Aaru Village to fade away in peace, sequestered in their village. However, when new life emerges in this ancient village... Everything that they used to know might just have to change a bit. * Unlocks at Friendship Lv. 2 |
Character Story 2 | When Uncle Anpu, the village head, announced that a caravan from Sumeru City was about to arrive in the village for trade, the former Guardians could hardly believe their ears. They indignantly accused Uncle Anpu of undermining tradition and requested that Candace, the current Guardian, do her duty by summoning guards to drive the merchants out. However, Candace refused the request, for she had already reached an agreement with the village head that the village must make changes for the future of its residents. They kept explaining, but the former keepers did not relent, and it was even suggested that if Candace was unwilling to do her duty, they would take up arms again and carry out a Guardian's work themselves. At last, a clang of lance against shield silenced all the quarrels. With lance and shield in her hand, Candace stood up and looked around with a smile, before announcing to the stunned elderly folks around her: "It is good to see you all in such good spirits." "But I am the current Guardian of Aaru Village, so please, go and rest, as you should." The persuasive power of weapons trumped words at this moment, and it seemed that it would be enough to end the fracas. After a moment's preparation, Candace accompanied the village head in her station as Guardian to formally receive the caravan and hold trade negotiations with them, before personally escorting them out of the village. A few days later, the merchants visited again and completed this seemingly humble transaction regarding cloths. This batch of merchants returned to Sumeru City with news of the success of the deal. Soon after, a new topic cropped up among the business-folk of Sumeru, one which had been rarely heard of in the past: "Hey, you know what? Someone went to Aaru Village to do business — and they made a good sum of Mora, too. Think we should give it a shot next time...?" * Unlocks at Friendship Lv. 3 |
Character Story 3 | In truth, Candace doesn't often use her lance and shield as debating tools. The children in Aaru Village have always believed that "Big Sis Candace" will only frown no matter how angry she is — at most, she might ask the children in trouble to copy the calligraphy prepared for them by Grandma Kulsoom several times. The other guards in Aaru Village believe that although Candace's requirements are strict, she will not give out corporal punishment to those who slack off or whose physical abilities are not up to par, and that she will simply guide them with more care instead. The older folks in the village, for their period, note that Candace is a person who will not let negative emotions show on her face, and indeed, she has never once looked sad in front of them. Even the merchants who visit the village will be received by Candace with the utmost hospitality. From introductions to accommodations, she arranges everything in good order. Perhaps she might even be too gentle for the merchants' comfort. After all, this village is next to Great Red Sand. Leaving the monsters aside, lawless bandits must have long had this village in their sights. Is the Guardian truly capable of protecting everyone... and their business as well? One night, a drunken merchant dared to ask: "Guardian, we can do business in this village, no problem. But as you know, this desert is a real den of outlaws..." "You need not worry about this. Only those who obey the rules shall be guests in Aaru Village. As for those who don't..." * Unlocks at Friendship Lv. 4 |
Character Story 4 | Those who do not respect the rules shall be the "enemies" of Aaru Village. Whether they be Eremites hiding in the sands, bandits disguised as adventurers, or Treasure Hoarders attempting to steal goods... Anyone who dares to invade the village, no matter how they may try to hide and escape, will eventually receive the punishment they deserve. Those who sincerely confess their guilt will be forgiven and given enough supplies to cross the sands, but never again will they be permitted to show their faces around Aaru Village. As for the more recalcitrant sort... Their despicable souls shall find company only with the desert sands. A former member of the Eremites once warned his companions that Candace, the terrifying Guardian of the village, is a true descendant of King Deshret. The shield in her hand possesses the blessing of Al-Ahmar, such that as long as its wielder holds it tightly, every grain in the great desert will heed her call. So if Candace so wishes, she could even send forth a huge sandstorm to engulf all her foes. Not only that, her amber left eye can also perceive the future and read the fates of others. Indeed, such is her terrible might that none can ever escape her pursuit. Such are people's beliefs concerning Candace, that she has swept all of Aaru Village's enemies away by virtue of these divine powers. * Unlocks at Friendship Lv. 5 |
Character Story 5 | Only Candace herself knows that she has never really felt the blessing of Al-Ahmar. "The Guardians have never been blessed by the grace of god" — this is a secret handed down from Guardian to Guardian. Only when a new Guardian takes up their shield will they be told the truth. The effects of the truth on those now in the know has varied. Some gave up and became so despondent that they stopped practicing martial arts. Some came to believe that since they were not being watched, they didn't have to obey the rules either, and so acted recklessly, even in violation of the law. But Candace was not depressed. "My lance and shield are not wielded as a prayer for a god's blessing." "My duty will not change, regardless of whether any god favors us or not." She practices diligently day after day and through this has forged both an extraordinary will and martial skills. Many who have visited Aaru Village have extended invitations to Candace, wondering why someone as capable as her would choose to live in such an inconspicuous place. If she was willing to leave, they often say, she may yet be able to start a new career... Yet Candace always answers them thusly: "A Guardian will not leave what they have purposed to protect." * Unlocks at Friendship Lv. 6 |
Candace's Trinkets | Candace often buys all kinds of trinkets from merchants who visit Aaru Village. Hairpins adorned with aquamarine beads, headbands made of silk and satin, gilded necklaces, metal bracelets engraved with Kalpalata Lotus patterns, pendants with the emblems of the Akademiya's Darshans drawn upon them... While Dehya has encouraged her to dress up more often and use the Mora she spends on herself, Candace feels that some things are too fragile to survive her daily work environment, and so she puts them deep in her wardrobe. So it seems that these trinkets will come in handy only when Candace temporarily puts her duties aside and changes into other clothes to have a rest in the shade — or perhaps she might just give it to a friend as a gift. * Unlocks at Friendship Lv. 4 |
Vision | With outsiders pouring in, Aaru Village was faced with a variety of unprecedented circumstances. They now had Treasure Hoarders pretending to be businessmen within the village, mercenary groups hijacking trade caravans, unscrupulous vendors engaged in charlatanry... Moreover, after seeing people who came from abroad, the residents of Aaru Village gradually began to yearn for life outside. Gradually, people tried to go out to make a living, and fewer and fewer young people were willing to stay in the village. The former Guardians had long been dissatisfied with Candace, who, as they saw it, had "abandoned" their traditions. Seeing that the village was in such a situation, they again held a meeting and prepared to challenge her. "What we Guardians must do is maintain order in the village!" "Candace! What you have done will only cost this village its peace!" "Candace! Go and fulfill your duties now!" As the war of words swayed back and forth, the lance-wielding female warrior suddenly shot up to her full height. "That's enough!" "If you only wish to protect the 'past' of this village, then do it yourself! Whether you wish to just remain in your homes or leave Aaru Village, that is up to you!" "I will not let the people of Aaru Village be bound by the past forever." "If you can't move forward, then it's up to me to protect our future!" The old Guardians were intimidated by her, her young, fiery eyes making it impossible for them to come forward and question her further. Burning with rare anger, Candace hefted her long spear and stormed out of the dispute-ridden hut. And, as if in response to her convictions, a shining "jewel" had appeared at the tip of that lance, though she knew not when it had done so. The eyes of the gods had found her, and they had given her their approval. A "Vision" is also a resolute heart — and no finer ornament than it may be found anywhere. * Unlocks at Friendship Lv. 6 |

I really want her to be my hydro DPS. So imma ask you guys for an opinion: if I want to make her normal attacks hit harder during the hydro infusion, do I max her normals or the burst first? i want to be enlightened by you guys
Not a good idea, but if u want, u need to max AA 1’st
If you don’t care about the dmg of the burst (which won’t be a whole lot), than maxing her AA is the way to go. Even on Lv1 her burst provides every effect and only her dmg gets affected by leveling.
Also, she has one of the highest dmg multipliers on her AA, in the whole game. So yes, you can play her as a main DPS. The main reason, why I believe her modifiers are that high: She doesn’t have a whole lot base ATK and her stat that increases doesn’t profit her, if you play her as a main DPS. Nonetheless her mutlipliers and the burst boost make her a pretty good main DPS unit, ngl.
ohhh I see. how about an artifact set? do you have any suggestions about the best DPS set for her? I am eyeing for 2pc HoD 2Pc Mililith to buff both hp and hydro damage, but that’s just me. Also, do I build her like Hu Tao (Hp, Elem. Dmg bonus cup, crit rate/dmg)?
I know she is a support unit, but I like her character design, and I really want her to be my dps. Thanks in advance for your opinion
That’d make the most sense dmg wise. Alternatively you can 4-piece set of HoD, bc it also buffs NA/CA attack once an E was casted. We just gotta see, if she outputs more dmg through the E and Q casts alone or if the NA/CA infused attacks do more dmg.
If E and Q together do more damage (per rotation):
-> I’d say 2pc Hod + 2pc Mililith
If NA/CA infused attacks do more dmg (per rotation):
-> Than 4pc Hod
Either way, it’ll be quite easy to farm the set, so there isn’t too much to worry about.
kokomi DPS Bis support! finally!
She’s so cracked, it’s not even possible. Expect some nerfs, or pray to whatever archon you believe in that MHY will pass her current stats and made it live.
She’s not cracked, but she’s very good.
Her base HP is kinda low, and at most you get 24-26k HP with her, if you also want her to deal decent dmg. As for support build, 30k is pretty achievable, so you can get 15% DMG bonus, and with her burst combined you can have 35% NA DMG bonus.
She will make main DPS Xingqiu possible, considering that on c1 her burst duration is 12 seconds long and she only has 3 seconds downtime with 60 burst cost.
The only possible problem I can see is lack of sets that will work on her support build at this point in time. It’s like with Diona: you either use 2p2p with tenacity and emblem for maximum substats, or 4p noblesse to give your team more ATK%. As for main DPS Candace: 4p Glad, Hod and Echoes are in your disposal.
Lol they just nerfed her today and I’m not even surprised. Expect more nerfs because MHY campaign against 4* is real.
Raiden Burst AA counts?
no. theyre considered burst damage so they dont count as normal attacks.
I think so? The hit clause for Candace’s burst isn’t that NA damage is dealt, but that elemental damage is dealt via an NA. Raiden’s attacks input as normal attacks before outputting burst damage, but it still deals elemental damage regardless, so she could technically still trigger Candace’s damage buff. I could be wrong though.
of course not, “when they deal Elemental DMG with their Normal Attacks”, read again or you still not understand raiden shogun kits
so her c6 will ruin aggrevate for cyno?
you know that electro and hydro can exist simultaneously and that 2 out of 2 dendro applicators are really fast at what they’re doing? also why would you use her with Cyno, better use a different unit lol.
Ain’t gonna lie. I firmly believe that Candace is a cracked unit. Close to Bennetts level. Unlike Yun Jin, Candace has no hit-limit for her Q and her A4 passive is just busted lol. Imagine having her on 30000 HP, which adds another 15% El.Dmg bonus. The cost is low of the Q and it also gives a hydro-imbue (which is new!) for every melee character. Her E is basically Yun Jins E, with high modifiers tbh.
And one thing some may have ignored: She has one of the highest AA modifiers in the game. Highest modifiers from every pole-arm characters and close to some claymore ones. Idk how fast her attacks are, but pole-arm characters are quite fast most of the time.
Her Q itself has better support-capabilites than some 5* and like Bennett her C1 will also make her immensely better (due to the short down-time then).
Overall:
-> Insane Dmg support unit with low burst cost
-> Decent dmg output with the occasional E and the Q switch (C6 adds around 5~6 wave attacks)
-> First hydro-imbue for other characters! (Possible new team combinations, especially interesting with freeze teams or even dendro core ones (Dendro Traveler + hydro imbue?)!)
-> Has high modifiers, which may even enable a DPS playstyle with her (just for fun, it’s not going to outdamage 5* lol), as her Q imbues her attacks
10000% a must pull imo (C1)
Dont forget her 9s duration and 15s cooldown, meanwhile yunjin has 12s duration and 15s cooldown which is has higher chance to stack yunjin burst infinitely and thus ignore the quota.
That’s why I mentioned her C1. This ends up at the same CD and duration as Yun Jin, not to mention that when I use Yoimiya I use up the 30 hits pretty quickly (and it’s harder to fill up Geo characters burst without a favonius weapons in my experience (as there aren’t many Geo characters you’d use additionally to Yun Jin in a team).
Her AA modifier is high because she scales off HP, her total attack will be fairly low to benefit much from the high AA modifier, it’s all in the balance.
Yeah, I’m aware. I’ve mentioned that in another comment, that her base ATK isn’t as high, but nonetheless, it opens up for a fun alternative playstyle, that suprisingly comes up on support character.
I would really like to know how you missed this sentence: “There is a limited number of waves that can be triggered in the duration of this skill.”
I assume you’re referring the “no hit limit to her Q” part of the post, which is true considering they clearly are referring to the damage bonus/infusion she gives that remains active for her entire 9/12s duration. Afterall, the OP referred to Yun Jin’s burst having a hit limit and even mentioned the increased number of waves she gets with C6
That said, she probably only gets 3 or 4 extra waves from C6 given timing drops with animations/dodges/etc. and the 2.3s CD on it.
I didn’t miss it, I mentioned that her dmg output is decent (her E modifier is quite high) and her Q has 3 instances (1 per switch) + the initial hit (and C6 adds 5~6 more instances). The fact that she does that dmg just on the side (59,4HP% per E and 23,8~47,6HP% (or up to 119HP% with C6) is pretty good, as this character main use will revolve around buffing other team mates.
Imagine Bennett doing around 30000 dmg (without crits!) in a simple dmg buff rotation. And that’s the thing that makes Candace pretty decent: She may not heal like Bennett, but she outputs consistent extra dmg while doing her thing.
you made 3 mistakes
1- her buff is completely different from yunjins yunjins buff works like this atk x (skill multiplier+ yunjins buff)x (1+critD%)x(1+dmg bonus) x(1+ res shred%) while cadence’s buff is at the dmg bonus part
2- literally no one uses up all of yunjins stacks yoimiya attacks 7 times in 2.5s with 10s of uptime that’s only 28 hits even with yunjins c6 its still only 31 hits and that’s assuming you do perfect jump cancels on her final hit ayato attacks 3 times per second for 6 seconds so he has 18 hits and by the time his skill is back up yunjins burst expired by timer alone with yunjin c6 thisll be around 20 hits still not hitting her limit and these 2 are the fastest attackers in genshin and even they can’t use up all of yunjins buff
3- I saw you mention in the comments that yunjin struggles to get her burst back without fav but my question is why would you run her without fav? there’s no def polearm that could make her buffing better so fav is her best choice
as for who is stronger well I can’t say for every character but for yoimiya and ayato at least they both prefer talent multiplier buffs over dmg% ones so yunjin will remain stronger ayato probably will like cadance more than yoi both for hydro res and bc he has partial hp scaling it makes buffs that affect both his hp and attk (dmg bonuses) more efficient on him than those that only affect one cadance will be good but farrrrrrr from Bennets lvl closer to pre dendro Shinobu watch ashikai’s video on kukithats what I think is roughly the power of candace
that’s why we have 2 sides for abyss ayato cadance on one side yunjin yoi on the other unga bunga ur way through the abyss
To answer some stuff:
-> 1.) I’m aware of that. Yun Jin has a flat dmg bonus (like aggravate), while Candace gets a percentile buff (last part of the dmg calc). The former one is in general better, but overall has diminishing returns the more flat dmg bonus you get. Additionally, these type of buffs are also worse on high percentage and slow attacks (the latter option would be better here). Fast attacks and/or low percentage profit of it mainly.
-> 2.) You’ll definitely use up these hits (except for bow characters) in the abyss, for a simple reason: Multiple hits on multiple opponents count as individual hits. For example, Ayato hits around 18 times, this means, if he hits 2 opponents during that duration, he’ll get 36 hits, so 6 of these hits aren’t buffed anymore. Any character that can “easily” hit multiple characters, should they be close, will most likely use those hits up (only claymores not, as those have relative slow attacks).
-> 3.) Fav is not enough. She’d need at least 20~30% extra ER% and either team mates with good energy gain, another geo unit or multiple opponents (as those generate particles once defeated and often times at specific HP thresholds).
You always need to go for “(Charged) E -> Q -> rotation -> (Charged) E” and get the crit for the extra energy or else you’ll miss some energy.
I know that, bc I play-tested her a lot in the abyss & I’ve tested a lot of rotations, just to be able to play her optimally with my Yun Jin team.
Geo is in general an unfavorable element to have in a team, if you don’t play geo team. Even with the resonance you won’t profit of it, bc no non-geo team that uses Yun Jin, run a shield character (only time that applies is running Zhongli with Yun Jin, and we all know that most ppl then use the standard “Yoimiya, Xingqui/Yelan, Yun Jin, Zhongli team).
Hydro resonance is in general more favorable imo, due to the simple extra HP for survivability.
Supposed to be a “support”, I’m gonna make her dps
All that is left is giving her normal attacks HP scaling so she isnt confined into a support role.
Candance is the first good 4-star unit we got since Roasila. If I am reading this right, with 30000 hp, C6 and Favonius Lance: She can give around 80% bonus normal dmg to Ayaka, deal her own considerable dmg, prove R5 Favonius twice with her c6 with ease, and be a OFF-FIELD hydro applier for Ayaka.
This would allow you to run Ayaka without a 5 star hydro unit like Kokomi and Ayato and still use Xingqui on the other side, I know Baraba exist but her cooldown is very heavily de-sync with 20s rotations(32-27 cd)
We no longer need to pull for limited units like Kokomi just to run a frezze team, yea she is probably worse then Kokomi for frezze comps but now you have a “free” option and can just wait for Mona to come into your account
Agian tho, this is c6, hopefully, most people have enough wishes from skipping 3.0 banners and 2.8 second half with Yoimiya to 7 copies while getting a c1-2 Cyno or Nilou who are both very likable chacters
Also the weapon banner has the most broken 4 star sword in the game, with 165 em and 50 er and 15 er to your other teammates
Uhm, isn’t the 20% extra damage like, just 20% extra damage bonus? it’s not 20% of her HP. Just 20%, (plus around 15% of her A4 Passive)
also she doesnt have off-field hydro aplication outside 3 counted attacks that appear whenever you change charas after her burst, the hydro on her skill its an infusion for HYDRO charas only soooo….
well goodluck with your pulls
Her c6 grants off-field hydro application lmao, as ‘Ok.’ stated.
Also, if what the description says is true, then it’s not just hydro chars though, soooooo…
“·Characters deal increased Elemental DMG with their Normal Attacks.
·Active Sword, Claymore, and Polearm-wielding character(s) under this effect will obtain a Hydro Infusion.”
did you not read “At c6”? She is a four star so it is very likey that some F2P can get her c6 by luck
Just read her c6 again if you haven’t already, also it clearly says “any sword, claymore and polearm user”
Yeah, like fking me who wanted to get Zhongli with 30 pulls, but got C4 Collei alongside with Mr.HugeDong… Just a little bit and I’d have C6 Collei to show off lmao…
And then I remember how I couldn’t get a single Gorou from 2 Itto banners, until got him at the last day of his rerun… gosh it was a pain
I love confident bad takes. her stats and abilities are trash. She relies entirely on the infusion to provide any function to the team. Just like the equally dysfunctional chongyun, she just won’t see any use.
Chongyun is bad because he doesn’t provide any dmg/atk bonus, solely an infusion. Candace provides 40% dmg bonus at 40k hp, and 20k hp (which you can build with other stats easily like er or cr/cd) is 30% bonus. For reference, yoimiya e grants 61.84% dmg bonus. Her biggest competition is going to be Yun Jin, but her c6 hydro application and maybe the infusion might provide a reason to run her instead in some niche teams. I don’t think she is Bennett or xq tier, but I think she will be stronger than Rosaria at least.
You can even run Candace, Yun Jin and Yoimiya (with any Xingqui). Yun Jin’s burst is a flat dmg bonus (like the new quicken reaction), which is additive to the initial hit. After all the additive calculations, multiplying factors like NA dmg bonus or Elemental dmg bonus get added.
Thus, it may even make sense to run both of them together as those dmg bonuses aren’t stacking for a diminishing return!
First good 4 star?? Heizou?????
heizou is only used for his e, his 10lvl NA steal deals 250 raw damage lmao
Maybe we’re going
Ayato – Candace – Yun Jin – Zhongli
???? idk
yes i was also thinking about how good she might be with ayato, lowering his ER requirements, boosting his HP with resonance and giving him more hydro dmg and also a brief hydro infusion. great support. can also be used in national instead of choungyun too
Would leveling up his na talent worth it when not using ayato skill?
Well, her burst duration at C0 is 9, at C1 is 12 seconds. Yunjin’s burst duration is 12 seconds. Ayato’s E duration is 6 seconds, so basically you will have 5-6 seconds after his infusion window ends, but usually you wont stuck for so long to use his NA’s. You CAN lvl them up, as they deal okayish DMG especially under all the buffs, and also it will allow you to see how gorgeous they are, but it’s your choice. It’s completely fine to do so!
My lot of R5 dragon’s bane in my inventory :
Finally, the world doesn’t forget me!
Imagine how much she’ll vape in one hit with her counter attack with dragon’s bane.
I also run the Ayato-YunJin-Zongli shell, but I doubt Candace will be better than Fischl or Mona. But still a nice fit.
She might the best fill in for the xiao team I’ve been using. Zhong shield bot, Jean with Freedom Sworn/VV, Xiao. I was running Ganyu for burst support so that Jean could swirl once on her E and swirl again on the Ult to get that Atk% and Plunge/Normal/Charge boost from Freedom Sworn for the Xiao Plunge, NA into Charged cancel. Candance would buff the Normal attacks, C6 candace would also throw waves every time for xiao during alt so more damage, and then a little extra damage from xiao swirls.
Unless you intend to do hydro NAs Xiao, it sounds terrible to me.
Xiaos Anemo doesn’t get overridden. You might not understand because of the team. The 4th slot (candace in this case) is merely to provide an element for Jean to swirl so that she can proc Freedom Sworn for the Bonus to Xiaos Plunge Cancel. In case you didn’t know. Freedom Sworn buffs Na’s, Charged and Plunge attacks. Xiaos Best dps combo Requires you to NA, Charge and lead into a Plunge cancel. So Xiao does all 3. Candace is there to provide the swirl for Jean, Bonus to Xiaos Normals and C6 Candace will also add the wave attack everytime Xiao plunges because He’s already doing NAs for the best dps Rotation.
