Character Details | "Since you're in Sumeru, you must not miss Nilou's performances." This is a fact that most people in Sumeru agree on. There is no threshold for Nilou's dances, so everyone can come and enjoy a most fascinating and engrossing time there. Nilou's audience comes from all walks of life. Be it a knowledgeable researcher or a mercenary who's seen true brutality — everyone is attracted here by Nilou's gorgeous, dancing form. Every time Nilou takes the stage, a press of people crowds the Grand Bazaar until all are standing shoulder to shoulder. Rational sense and wisdom are the mainstream in Sumeru, while art, which stands for sensibility, does not enjoy the same popularity and respect. Yet if wisdom is meaning bestowed upon Sumeru by the goddess, then art stands for meaning that human beings seek for themselves. |
Character Story 1 | Unlike other dancers across the continent who hail from artistic families, Nilou came from an ordinary family in Sumeru. The life that the family of three once lived was no different from that of many who lived in downtown area. The knowledge they gained from the Akasha was enough for their common day-to-day lives. If there was anything special about Nilou's family, it was that Nilou's parents' loved and cared for her very much. Although the pursuit of scholarship is prevalent in Sumeru, Nilou's parents never compared Nilou with other children, nor did they expect Nilou to become a researcher. Growing up happily and living a stable life was all that they wanted for her. Nilou thus grew up surrounded by love and respect. Later, even when there were differences of opinion and occasional arguments between her parents, Nilou's thoughtful and considerate mediation would permit no harm or grudge to ever linger in their family. * Unlocks at Friendship Lv. 2 |
Character Story 2 | Every inch of the Grand Bazaar has been measured by Nilou's footprints, and she keeps everyone at Grand Bazaar in her heart. Nilou can introduce anyone in the Grand Bazaar in detail, as if they were a family member. Mr. Jut usually gets up early to make tahchin, so if you want the privilege of having the most delicious bite of freshly cooked tahchin, be sure to get up early! Mr. Afshin's storytelling skills are simply divine. His wonderful ingenuity always makes people want to buy his merchandise. Mr. Hushang, who sells toys, has very dexterous hands. With them, he fashions the most fascinating little toys, and they are very popular amongst children. And, of course, everyone has long regarded this smart red-haired girl as a family member too. Every time Nilou goes grocery shopping, she always ends up carrying more items than on her purchase list just by making a single trip through the streets, and the weight of the groceries shows exactly how much people like and take care of Nilou. Of course, Nilou also takes care of them in return. Hushang and Farhad may have a quarrel over a bet, about as long as Nilou shows up, the two will surely be reconciled. If Afshin's Sumpter Beasts have stolen someone else's food, Nilou will come forward and help make amends. If you ask Nilou why she is so enthusiastic, she will answer with a smile: "Because family is supposed to help each other, hehe." For Nilou, her mom and dad are her small family, while everyone in the Grand Bazaar is her big family. * Unlocks at Friendship Lv. 3 |
Character Story 3 | Nilou remembers clearly that she met her teacher at the Sabzeruz Festival when she was eight years old. Back then, the Knight of Flowers gave her a lot of Yalda Candies, and so little Nilou passed by the Zubayr Theater with candies in both hands. The Sabzeruz Festival is a celebration that features dance, but before, only dance groups from abroad were invited to sing and dance at the festival — and on a temporary stage, to boot. Now that the Grand Bazaar finally had its own theater, excited people were flocking to the new stage. Little Nilou managed to squeeze through the crowd to the front of the stage and saw the teacher dance for the first time. Even though there were no flowers on the stage, at that moment, Nilou felt as if she was watching thousands upon thousands of flowers blooming all at once. The candies in her hands fell to the ground unnoticed, and she couldn't help but dance along. It was only when the dance had ended that little Nilou realized what she had done, and hurriedly apologized to the people around her who had made room. It was at this moment that her teacher also walked down from the stage in an elegant manner and helped her pick the Yalda Candies back up. She reached out her hand to little Nilou, and asked gracefully— "Would you like to join me for a future dance?" * Unlocks at Friendship Lv. 4 |
Character Story 4 | Although she has lived her entire life in Sumeru, the city of wisdom, Nilou has never shown any talent in the field of "knowledge." However, she always knows how to soothe the emotions of others in her own way. "This is probably a generous gift to me from Lesser Lord Kusanali." After learning to dance with her teacher, Nilou became deeply aware of the power of body language. Combining her talents and knowledge of body language, she created her very own form of "body movement therapy." For example, when Mr. Zubayr is angry, everyone in the theater would be walking on eggshells. But Nilou would keep a warm smile, drawing wonderful patterns one after another in the air with her arms and fingers. "Imagine that we are in the rainforest that has just rained, and that you are following me as we walk onward, saying hello to every animal that passes by, waving, leaving everything else behind..." Perhaps this may seem childish and funny to a bystander, but for those who are wrapped up in the moment, Nilou's gentle voice can cause the anger that clouds their minds to disappear before they even know it. What's even more amazing is that, according to Mr. Afshin, this body movement therapy has been trending recently — and it even works on his two stubborn Sumpter Beasts... * Unlocks at Friendship Lv. 5 |
Character Story 5 | Be it in day-to-day life or her performances on stage, Nilou has always maintained a simple attitude — To melt everyone's worries away and let comfort and ease waltz in. But when "trouble" comes to her, she is often distressed due to her inability to make the call. Tahchin sure is delicious, but Pita Pocket is also good, and I also saw someone holding a Potato Boat that seemed really yummy. Which one should I eat tonight? I've heard people talk about places outside Sumeru City... the pure white snowy mountain and windmills the size of giants... Should I also consider going out for a trip? Nilou can often find good reasons to go with any of the options she is considering, and so they are like Forest Tree Frogs sitting across from one another with bellies out, not one able to win the others over. But if there was a person who could make a decision at this time and tell her with confidence and calm: "Why not have half the amount of each and share them with me?" "And as for those places you have never been to, I have already set foot there. I can assure you that they are safe." ...Nilou would dismiss her hesitation in an instant and raise her arms in a dance-like graceful gesture of thanks, before indulging in the joy of having solved a great problem for a long time indeed. * Unlocks at Friendship Lv. 6 |
Letters from the Audience | Refusing to accept gifts on stage has been a long-standing rule in the Zubayr Theater. Sometimes, the audiences do still get too excited and may insist on giving various kinds of gifts to Nilou. That said, such givers will definitely receive a gift in return the very next day, along with a note that has been left at their doors... "Thank you for your kindness. If you would like to express your love for Nilou's dance, you may write a letter to the Zubayr Theater instead of sending gifts." And so it came to pass that like snow flakes dancing and falling in the air, letters filled with the audience members' passionate praise have been sent in batches and droves by the Dusk Birds to the theater's mailbox. During her free time when there are no shows or rehearsals, Nilou will read every letter carefully, share this joy with the other members of the Zubayr Theater, and then carefully preserve these letters. Every word and every expression of recognition and fondness in the letters is worth remembering and appreciating. As Nilou bettered her dancing skills, more and more people came to watch her dance, and in time, the letters have added up to quite the stack indeed. But if someone cracks a joke, saying that Nilou is the most valuable treasure in the Zubayr Theater, she will definitely shake her head with a sweet smile. "Our most valuable treasure is our audience's love, and it is all carefully stored in one mysterious box." * Unlocks at Friendship Lv. 4 |
Vision | Nilou has heard her teacher talk about the meaning of dance more than once. From her teacher's perspective, dance is born from human life and has belonged to everyone from the very beginning. "As a dancer, you should convey emotions on stage, and your audience's smiles are their response to the emotions conveyed in your dance." Nilou was well aware that she was nowhere near as good at thinking about the "meaning" behind things as Akademiya researchers. But still, she practiced diligently each day under the direction of her teacher and planned to continue following in her footsteps. When she finally first took the stage, she quickly became completely immersed in the performance, holding nothing back. She thought of the wind, the moon, the gentle sound of the rose blooming, the feeling of stroking the tail feathers of Dusk Birds, and a myriad of beautiful things that existed in this world. She wanted to display the beauty she perceived in her heart to the entire audience through her dance. Slowly, splashes of water ran together, converging into a lake on the stage. Like a Crystalfly dancing on a lake's surface, Nilou gently fluttered back and forth, and the lake-mirror rippled slightly in time to her steps. Like a water lily, her body swirled in the middle of that lake. Amazed at such pure and flawless beauty, the audience almost forgot to breathe. After the curtain fell, Nilou flopped down on the backstage chair and took deep breaths. Like dewdrops on a lotus leaf, a Hydro Vision had appeared at her waist. Nilou thought then that she had perhaps found the purpose of dance at last — "To become beauty, and then to convey the beauty and value of art." * Unlocks at Friendship Lv. 6 |

Nilou wanters do you guys plan to pull dendro archon later? Seems like using them together is a no-brainer move but I really just don’t care about loli characters. I wonder if Nilou can do well without Nahida…
Then just use Dendro Traveler and Collei.
As an Archon, Nahida will probably be an excellent choice for many Dendro-based teams. But If you don’t like her design, then I don’t see the point in having people tell you to pull a character you already know you don’t like. lol
at the very least, she will probably the best dendro to the date of her release.
The next dendro 5star will come, per leaks and rumors, on 3.5 or more than a third of a year away
and he is probably a main dps.
Call me old fashioned, but I was raised to serve my wife Nilou. I wash the dishes, cook her food, and clean the house. I do whatever she says because she is my wife and she makes the rules around the house. She owns me. If she ever cheats on me it’s because I was lacking.
You sir need help
I don’t care if she is a support or whatever bullshit role mihoyo gave her. She’s a beautiful 5* character, so she’s gonna be the main dps in my party no matter what.
3.1 seems like the patch with the worst primo/value new character banners ever. A dude who is outdpsed by a standard character team because HV decided to give him an 1.x kit and a girl who depends on an unknow future kit for being at least decent. Only thing can save this patch is the first half weapon banner wich is kinda decent.
enough
Just put fischl, kazuha and dendro mc with cyno, pull his weapon and you are set.
Put yelan/xq/kokomi and dendro mc with nilou, get her weapon and you are set.
All are available by 3.1 kek
Sorry. What is this “a standard character team” you are talking about?
its just another one of these nerds that keep coping about how keqing is better than cyno. just check cyno’s page and comments, and you can see a bunch of people coping about an unreleased character in a video game lmao
The only one coping is you. They’re right.
If you are f2p better get Cyno. He’s even more powerful than C2 Raiden. Nilou is just copium Xingqiu but with bloom
Lmao what you smoking? share that good shit
don’t do drugs n comment bro
funniest itto main ever
More powerful than C2 Raiden? Is this true, guys?
No…Just no. In order for him to be stronger than C2 Ei heal have to give Ganyu and Hu Tao a run for there money, Cuz the introduction of Dendro made Electro much stronger. So Ei is a top tier unit. Hoyo won’t want to powercreep the top selling char.
Needs cons and 5* sword to be good. Mehh
Triple hydro and on-field Nahida with full EM looks pretty good
Let this day today be her Birthday
I agree
nice name
If Nilou’s Hydro-Dendro passive didn’t exist, people would complain that she:
– Isn’t better than Childe in National
– Worse than Kokomi in Freeze
– Not as consistent as Ayato in Taser
– Can’t deal Hydro damage off-field like Xingqiu and Yelan
– Can’t buff like Mona in any of her teams
Either that, or I don’t think people realize they are basically asking for powercreep. xp
As someone has mentioned before, I think Nilou will be good with full HP as a Bloom booster (Whirling Steps). And Crit build for general, on-field DPS purposes – like in non-Bloom teams, Co-Op, and, open world (Sword Dance).
which are true but people like you can’t recognize charter lows and simp to the end
^ This forum troll rolls in to post personal attacks.
This reply is toxic spam.
which are true but people like you can’t recognize charter lows and simp to the end
I totally agree. She will bring something new, and that’s great. =)
I will have an hybrid build, full HP with crit sub, so I can play her Fav Sword in bloom teams and HoD in mono hydro teams. I can swap the cup for a Hydro one with only one CV proc less. I can’t wait to have her, it will be fun =D
Absolutely. Having a Hydro character that isn’t simply a side grade to another unit is really nice. Not to mention she won’t necessarily be fighting over most of the supports we’d want to use in our existing meta comps for the 2nd team in the Abyss.
In addition to a Crit build, I also think she can drive Bloom teams with Sword Dance. But not properly until there is a Dendro healer. So her on-field team might be something like 1 Hydro, 3 Dendro – if you really want her to have complete ownership of the Bountiful Cores.
In terms of reaction ownership, I’ve seen some interesting theories. Some say that that her kit allows basically anyone on her team to proc Bloom effectively – but (as of now) that also mean building some EM on multiple characters, which is a bit of a pain. Allocating Bloom ownership to one character seems to be the most efficient route in terms of resource management. We’ll have to see what future Dendro characters can do.
Powercreep would mean that a C2 Raiden would be gathering dust and forgotten on the bench in a year or even less. And the Abyss would have to be adjusted to the point where even older freebies couldn’t clear it anymore. It’s just not a sustainable way to keep the game going and have players feel the time and money they’ve spent is worth it. A better solution would be to release new characters that function in new and/or old team archetypes that also perform at similar levels to preceding teams/charatcers. But the issue is already deeply rooted and inherent in how ICDs and elemental reactions work. You pointed that out very well when you talked about Itto’s mono-Geo team. Itto was a step in the right direction, but the Geo reaction itself is underpowered.
I’m not saying we shouldn’t look objectively at a character’s kit and express our concerns. We absolutely should point out any issues that affect a new unit’s performance. But its exactly because the game has been out for 2 years that I think it’s good that new ways to play become available to us. We’ll just have to wait and see how Nilou’s special Bloom teams stack up in the meta over time.
And I’m not defending HYV’s corporate decisions at large in the gacha games industry – I literally listed Nilou’s potential shortcomings in my original post. The best we can do is express our concerns by using official feedback channels. I do what I can by raising issues in the surveys. But that doesn’t mean I can’t be allowed to express things I find neat, good, or interesting too.
I would agree if they immediately dotted the i’s. Nilou is a passing character, experimental, which has a huge number of limitations in her kit and which is finite regardless of future dendro chars. She has no potential, but it takes one step towards the development of transfirmative reactions and denro in particular.
Nilou is experimental to us, but not to HYV. Dendro as an element has existed since the beginning of the game. The developers have had 2 years to see how all the other elements perform in the live game in relation to eachother. They’ve also had this entire time to see how players are using existing characters. HYV has planned and developed Nilou using the data they’ve gathered. The information we’re seeing now has probably gone through a lot of changes already (even before beta) based on current trends, among other things. The changes to Hydro resonance is also evidence of preparation.
Nilou’s kit has one real limitation: It requires Hydro and Dendro teammates to generate her Bountiful Cores. You can still use her in other teams, but enhancing Bloom is her intended role. I don’t have a problem with characters that specialize in a mechanic. Rather, my concern is that they’re intended team’s power should be comparable with that of other teams’.
Future Dendro characters will influence how the enhanced Bloom teams can be played in terms of which character is on field driving and who the elemental aura applicators are. Potential can be measured in many ways. Nilou’s lack of potential to innovate teams outside Bloom in particular is obvious. But the point is, she doesn’t need to saturate teams like Vaporize and Freeze – especially when the Nations represented by the Pyro and Hydro Archons have yet to be released. Creating both mechanically unique characters and ones that are fundamentally more versatile is generally a good way to keep the game balanced and interesting.
Element does exist, but reactions other than burning appeared only in the patch 3.1. And of course everything was tested, feedbacks was collected, but who needs this data. Player money is needed, no matter that the released character requires other options that are not even in the game yet.
Reactions other than Burning appeared for players in 3.1. But it’s old news for the developers. Data is definitely needed by HYV in order to generate revenue. It’s short-sighted to think that a gaming company isn’t using live game data alongside their own in-house testing as part of their business plan and their bottom line.
Powercreep is good if the content is still doable with freebies.
Genshin has been stagnating for 2 years.
The only character that managed to dethrone the bugged ICD of the 1.0 four star characters is Raiden at C2.
Meaning, you roll for Itto C6, Gorou, Albedo and Zhongli, that’s still worse than just running XQ,XL,B by themselves.
that’s shit. We’re at a point where day 1 veterans are rolling characters out of boredom.
Powercreep is one of the extremes.
There are 2 extremes here. One is powerseep, the other is powercreep.
OP (Original Poster) is suggesting that only powercreep exists and nothing else, which is HALF TRUTH to say the least. OP is so fixated on attacking and smearing critics, strawmanning them to make a quick and easy mockery. OP is whiteknighting for hyv. While critics are questioning hyv’s decision on forcibly restricting nilou’s passive to hydro-dendro team only, OP gets mad at the critics and smear them this way, using bog standard strawman tactic.
Powercreep is bad, but powerseep is worse. We’re talking about characters we have to pay real money to get, or pay with our precious time to get, and it’s better if their value diminish over time (powercreeped by new characters) rather than their value already low on delivery (powerseep). However, it’s much better if their value is BALANCED on delivery and not diminish over time, but it’s honestly damn hard to do, and it requires a lot of feedback to achieve, not something a small group of developers and beta testers by themselves could ever achieve. Feedback often come in negative reaction, and OP here are suggesting that it is a bad thing. For OP, only powercreep exists, and they’re smearing anything otherwise.
Nowhere did the OP suggest that only powercreep exists. If anything, their posts outlines the issues Nilou could STILL face even without her Hydro and Dendro passive requirement. And mad? You’re making assumptions to back up a point that was never made.
https://genshin.honeyhunterworld.com/nilou_070/?lang=EN#comment-6042
That honestly is a good point.
However, this sentence, “The best we can do is express our concerns by using official feedback channels.”
I have disagreement on that part.
Against something that obviously won’t listen to us, as surveys really does almost nothing at all, the only way left is to voice public concerns. Remember anniversary event? It was a total fiasco, with fires spread all over the place, causing total chaos I’d rather prefer to not ever happen again. But was it effective? It was, kinda… they did gave us something after that, but remember, all they gave us after such utter and complete chaos was 10 pulls… 1600 primogem, and a freaking cosmetic for glider..? Standard anniversary rewards often include 5 star or UR character picker tickets among other things, which in genshin translate to 75 pulls at the very, very least. I won’t go into the ethics of such public outrage here, because in general I’m against harassing other people, but in riots, bad things do happen, and we should focus on the main perpetrator’s accountability.
So, if even after such complete chaos and madness hyv only gave us 1/15th of standard anniversary reward, imagine what complaining on “official feedback channel” would do. Absolutely nothing.
—- Incoming (kinda irrelevant) TL;DR rant —- you’ve been warned.
The only thing hyv deserve is a public complaints from the entire community. They don’t deserve the benefit of the doubt at all. They’re already too big to fall, and I’ve given them my fair share of support, only to watch it burn, as they spend all the money I spent on genshin towards creating two new blood sucking gacha games instead of improving genshin’s development plan and roadmap. I didn’t pay to watch them hype up two other unethical, freshly made, and massively advertised gacha games. And since that’s what they did anyway, they’ve lost all and any kind of benefit of the doubt from me. Will their new game good? Probably… no, of course it will, those might even be better than genshin, given their massive budged, but still… a blood sucking gacha game I didn’t ask for when I paid for genshin’s content. I paid for genshin because I’m tired with the stagnancy of the game’s end content and the utter disappointment of it’s dialogue writing. None got fixed in the past 2 years, and probably never will… despite billions of dollars they make from this game. Nilou’s problem is just one small part of the already massive tumor that is growing out from the developer called hyv. Giving them the benefit of the doubt in this case would only worsen the giant problem that already persists currently, especially since whiteknights are constantly stifling voices from the communities, and disallowing content creators to also voice their discontent, because everytime they do so, copium inhaling whiteknights will jump on them like hungry beasts, attacking from every angle and ruin the life of the content creator. In that situation… no, I’ll not limit myself on “official feedback channel” to complain. I’ll keep lighting up fires in the community, as ineffective as it is, as I’m fully aware on how strong it is the power of hyv and their corporate whiteknights. But at the very least, I’m not contributing towards it.
I understand that you’re not happy with some of HYV’s conduct (especially with regards to the last Anniversary event), but I still don’t think complaining is an effective and useful way to have your voice heard. Dissatisfaction with the Anni rewards in itself wasn’t wrong or bad, but the way the community behaved was terrible to say the least. The “fires” and general rudeness was uncalled for and made the situation that much worse. It wasn’t a good look for the community or HYV. I don’t know how everyone describes their issues in the surveys, but saying something like “This feature sucks” isn’t exactly edifying or constructive.
That’s my general take on raising the legitimate issues we have with things in-game.
You have to keep in mind this is a gacha, they can’t nerf characters to reverse powercreep, but they can buff, and they can also change the game itself to make weak characters more viable. Kokomi was considered bad on release, look at where she is now, and also Keqing, Zhongli etc..
At least for me, I think it’s extremely predatory for characters you already bought with real money to lose value due to powercreep. Yes, powerseep is bad, but If the new character is weak, you can decide not to roll, and Mihoyo can take that feedback to buff. You can’t make Mihoyo refund you when a character you own become weak. Mihoyo needs to sell characters for profits, it’s not like they want new characters to be weak.
Not the first time we have a character who’s only good on one comp (Ayaka’s only real comp is freeze). The community has also been wrong about characters a lot of times (Raiden, Kazuha, Bennett). People need to learn the lesson about judging characters before release. No matter how hard you analyze t it beta tests just don’t give enough data for a good assessment, a handful of beta testers simply can’t test out builds as well as thousands of people.
There’s value to both positive and negative feedback, as well as counter arguments to said feedback. You accuse the OP of smearing critics while smearing him yourself. Be the better man and disagree respectfully.
The whole point of my post was to demonstrate that Nilou is intended to have a unique BiS role. She can work in other teams, but she simply won’t be as good as the other Hydro options in those teams. This could be due to how her kit is inherently supposed to synergize with the Bloom reaction itself. Now, if she can’t perform with competence in her Bloom teams, that’s an even greater issue.
thank god we don’t got people like you in charge of game balance lol
Well, keep using that “powercreep” argument to defend bad corporate decision. You do you, feel free to do whatever you want.
Me personally, would prefer having BOTH non powercreep, and well designed. And the way I see it, it’s better to constantly criticize and complaint because the one I’m against is not a person, but a corporate.
If it’s against a person, then sure… I won’t complain against content creators for example, they’re individual people. They have heart, and I dare not break their heart. It’s also bad for their mental health when their viewers are constantly complaining and criticizing.
But corporates are heartless entity whose purpose is to suck your wallet out of money, so I’ll complain as I see fit. It is a collective entity of profit driven stake holder that evaluate their performance by the amount of money they bring in, and not from the amount of praises people give them.
EA games for example, might be the number 1 most hated corporate in USA, but zero fks are given by them because people keep falling for their scummy monetization practices. Do you want the corporate behind genshin impact to be like EA? Simple, keep praising them. Or at the very least, keep attacking the critics by making unjust assumption and strawmanning them like you’re doing right now.
In corporate perspective, more praises = more chances to push for scummier monetization practices. Look at CD Project Red for example… hailed as one of the best game development company out there, overly praised by literally everyone, then immediately use those praises up to push for unfinished cyberpunk sales, and look where that goes. What I’m surprised about is that hyv is already well known to be scummy, yet someway somehow there’re people who’re happy to attack their critics. Welp, I guess there’re whiteknights even for EA games out there, so it shouldn’t be too surprising, but… man, there’re a lot of hyv whiteknight, ready to defend this corporate at moment’s notice, even pre-emptively like this one. Now kinda I feel bad for CDPR, because no matter how badly unfinished cyberpunk was, it was nowhere near as scummy as a gacha game, and yet literally everyone criticize and make fun of them, while hyv… well….
This isn’t the first time we have a character who focuses on 1 comp (Ayaka with freeze) and the community has also been proven wrong about characters’ viability in the past many times (Raiden, Kazuha,, Kokomi, Bennett). People just never learn that you can’t tell how good a character is before release. You do realize you are “pre-emptively” criticizing something that hasn’t come out?
Also, Genshin releases a functional game with lots of content, Cyberpunk charges 60 bucks for a nonfunctional game. Always criticizing is just as bad as pure praise. There are devs in the company who are real humans who would appreciate knowing what they did right, what they did wrong and try to make good games.
I’m not defending Hoyo on the issue here, the character isn’t even out yet. There are just too many people who complain for the sake of complaining instead of offering constructive criticism.
Well, I’ll say it again. Against corporation, I prefer complaining, even just for the sake of complaining, because the alternative is giving them more reasons to be complacent and use scummier monetization tactic.
I however, will not do the same thing when it’s regarding individuals. Like for example, content creators. Individuals have heart, and constant complaints from their viewers will break their heart. It’ll be bad for their mental health, and I’d rather silently leave and watch another content creator I prefer rather than complain whenever they do something I don’t like.
It’s about “the lesser evil” thing. Complaining against corporates are the lesser of the two evil. Of course it’ll be great if the corporate doesn’t do scummy practices and we don’t have to complain at all (CDPR before cyberpunk for example), but when push comes to shove, complaining is always my preferred choice when it’s against corporations. They’re heartless entity who doesn’t give a damn on your complaints, until your complaints are vocal enough to influence their profit margin. Complaints won’t break their heart because CORPORATIONS ARE HEARTLESS.
What going on in genshin is a toxic situation where whiteknights and shills have higher influence that allows hyv to constantly abuse their players and stifle their voice of dissent. In that situation, even if people are complaining for the sake of complaining, it’s already a much better alternative. Even if someone say something absurd like “Genshin’s gameplay is so bad”, I won’t go against them even though I do love genshin’s gameplay, because by doing that, I’m contributing towards the already toxic situation, even though doing so would be justifiable in that case, simply because the alternative is just worse.
Hyv is a multi billion dollar corporate with too much privileges already, it’s absurd to even try and give them the benefit of the doubt at all. Unless something that truly and extremely unjust happen against them, I will not be on their side because they’re already too big to fall. And that’s why for me, complaining against corporate is always better than otherwise, even though it’s just complaining for the sake of complaining, which in nilou’s case, it’s not even that, the complaints are legit concerns because forced limitation of dendro-hydro is truly dumb.
Complaining for the sake of complaining is more likely to only raise your blood pressure. Providing constructive criticism in a way that companies can utilize the information is far more likely to get things done.
In Nilou’s case, no one (not even HYV) is physically preventing you from using her outside of Bloom. Just don’t be surprised if she under-performs in those other teams. The same can be said about Hu Tao, Ayaka, Itto, and Eula, whose best teams require specific elemental archetypes to fully realize their kits and builds.
I sleep well at night, knowing fully well I don’t contribute towards scummy practices pandering and corporate complacency by refusing to voice a concern.
“Bad things happen not only because there’re bad people, it happen because good people remain silent.”
Refusal to complain or criticize just because you think you’re above it, is the reason why things often get worse. So yea… I sleep well at night, thank you. It doesn’t raise my blood pressure.
Also, this sentence “Providing constructive criticism in a way that companies can utilize the information is far more likely to get things done.”
Would be true if said company actually listen. Hyv listen to nothing but complete chaos. Even the dreaded anniversary event riot didn’t make them listened enough. They only gave us 10 pulls worth of primogem instead of an actual 5 star character picker, which is the bog standard gacha game’s anniversary reward. The only way to provide a constructive criticism that hyv can utilize is by creating public uproar. Maybe not something like the anniversary event, but something less destructive, but constant, as the community united to monitor hyv’s behavior critically, not pandering to their complacency like it currently is with one side constantly taking on their side, giving them the benefit of the doubt they definitely don’t deserve. The community is afflicted with “shame” sickness that lingers after last year’s anniversary fiasco. While it was truly a shame, it was not the fault of the community itself. It was the fault of hyv that things happened the way it was. Like for example, you wouldn’t blame the minorities back when the civil rights movement riots happened right? It’s not the riot we should be ashamed of, it’s the fact that there was a need for a riot in the first place.
I don’t know what more to say.
BUT NOW we got all that plus…
not being able to use her fully well with
-Zhong li’s shield and elemental res
-Sucrose’s EM bonus
-Anemo’s VV shred
-Additional freeze utility from cryo units
-Albedo’s EM bonus, off-field utility(from artifacts)/damage
People keep saying that this isn’t the first time such stupidity happened in genshin by giving mono geo team examples, but they forgot that mono geo team, is not restricted to ONLY geo to utilize each character’s talent. Mono geo can sneak in bennett for example, or even double hydro (noelle gorou xinqiu yelan).
This is the very first time a talent explicitly said “When all characters in the party are either Dendro or Hydro” as a condition for it’s activation. Just straight up restricting it in it’s entirety unless the team is strictly dendro and hydro only.
Defending it is super dumb, because the alternative is strictly better. Remove that limitation, and it’s only positives now. It also won’t be a powercreep, simply because THIS IS A BRAND NEW PLAYSTYLE with nobody to powercreep. I don’t get what’s going on in the defender’s mind when they’re trying to defend this stupidity. It truly is a mental gymnastic, spiraling down a self destructive thinking, just because. I really can’t think of any good reason why someone would perform such mental gymnastic, unless that person is a corporate whiteknight, which all of them pretend like they’re not, so I really don’t know.
There’re tons of logical explanation as of why hyv would pull this kind of stupid stunt, like for example, to sell future character constellation, the classic “create a problem then sell the solution” corporate practices. But somehow people keep saying that hyv knows what they’re doing, and it’s us who don’t, and bla bla bla, repeating on that mental gymnastic talking point over and over again. What a shame… hyv played the community like a damn fiddle. Literally falling for their schemes blindly.
“THIS IS A BRAND NEW PLAYSTYLE with nobody to powercreep.”
^^^ Typing your point in capital letters doesn’t make it true. The Bloom reaction itself has no predecessors, but the comp and the characters involved in it don’t exist in a vaccum. Would you want Bloom teams to be stronger than National? Or should they be on par? How about any new Hydro units that work in Bloom in the future? Should they also have broken kits that can overtake Childe or Xingqiu in their best teams? Is that how Nilou should have been created?
Mono Geo teams were used as an example (in this particular discussion) for relative power level comparisons, not team restrictions. But the whole point of Geo (as of now) is that it doesn’t create multiplicative or transformative/status reactions to enhance its damage. By nature, that is one of the reasons why Geo teams can “sneak” in a Bennett or Yelan and Xinqiu. Goodluck keeping your enemies frozen in a Freeze team with Albedo.
We’ve got a Messiah here against corporate whiteknights and scummy business practices that no one is forced to spend on. Complete with mental gymnastics based on paranoia. Completely derailing the discussion with capslock and wild accusations tossed at players who are no more powerful than they are.
“Would you want Bloom teams to be stronger than National?”
I want my:
1. Complex elemental reaction
2. Complex team building
3. Optimally synergized
team, to be ON-PAR with national team. Don’t strawman me with “Oh, you want powercreep?” shenanigans. I want it ON-PAR. As it is right now, with such limitation, it’s strictly WORSE.
Zajef (one of global’s prominent TC) explained it just yesterday on his livestream on how the passive could be handled better. Basically speaking, do it like gorou’s skill. With more dendro or hydro character in the party, the seed activation trigger goes faster on additive amount.
For example: Normal bloom timer is 6s before explosion, while special cores currently is only 0.6s. With each other dendro or hydo member, reduce it by 33% additively, resulting in 6s (only nilou), 4.2s (+1 dendro/hydo), 2.4s (+2 dendro/hydro), and 0.6s (+3 dendro/hydro) timer
This encourage the use of only dendro-hydro members, while not making BOTH of her passive completely useless if you dared to play her differently. Hyv is testing the limit on how far their sheep will defend their bad decision, and congrats… you defended them.
“We’ve got a Messiah here against corporate whiteknights and scummy business practices that no one is forced to spend on.”
Are you forced to snark up against me? No, but you did it anyway. Your sentence is as ironic as it gets. I embrace it, knowing fully well nobody is being forced to pay or play the game, because regardless, it’s still a scummy practice. Bad is bad, no matter how badly you try to sugar coat it or make it seems acceptable. Imagine saying “just leave” to a girl that suffer from abusive relationship. “Nobody forces you to be with him”, say that and get a slap or two to understand how bad your mental gymnastic currently is. The only way out of your situation is not by further defensive argument about it, as you spiral down further into the mental gymnastic hole you dug up, it is to realize that better alternative simply exists, and the only way to get into that path, is to make hyv realize. And since “complaining through official channel” have absolutely zero effect, the only way to reach it is zhongli backlash level of uproar. Though that backlash was entirely from CN community as global community constantly grief them by defending hyv’s decision on zhongli, almost preventing the buff as hyv did made a statement that they won’t do anything initially, thanks to global shills constantly praising zhongli with their C6 R5 zhongli while laughing at F2P, until CN uproar goes too large to ignore.
Do you always quote people and accuse them of “defending” HYV when they don’t completely agree with your rants? Do you always berate others for not agreeing with the way you bring up concerns and issues regarding a character’s kit?
Yes, Nilou’s passive could have been structured differently. But what do you expect me to do about it? Say “Yes, you’re absolutely right. I’ll join you in ranting and complaining all over HI and other social media until Nilou’s passive gets changed”?
Even before this site layout was updated, I’ve seen you posts. Always going on about corporate whiteknights, scummy business practices, mental gymnastics, players being forced to do things, etc.
Why don’t you write a well-outlined and thought-out petition? Encourage people to sign it and get on people on board with the suggestions for improvements.
Zhongli gimps some elemental reaction teams by disrupting auras already (which isn’t optimal).
Albedo’s off-field utility (from artifacts)/damage is a moot point. Dendro Traveler and to a lesser extent, Collei) are available right now.
With regards to EM and res shred provided by the older units: There are multiple sources of EM available, whether it be from Nilou’s passive, weapons, and Gilded Dreams/Deepwood Memories artifact sets, etc. Nilou’s C2 provides both Hydro and Dendro res shred (which I don’t fully agree with, I think the Hydro shred could have at least been part of her Burst).
Nilou’s Blooms won’t require additional utility from freeze. Their explosion radius has been greatly increased.
When all is said and done, one thing mostly lacking is patience. More Dendro characters are yet to come and there’s no doubt a unit like the Dendro Archon will bear significance in providing EM without needing to rely on Sucrose. It’ll be cool to run a new team that doesn’t have to play tug-of-war with older units to function optimally in the Abyss. The reality is that Dendro characters are brand new. We can’t have them all RIGHT NOW.
Geo doesn’t react to dendro. Zhong li with the new dendro artifact can carry up to 50% dendro res shred.
Albedo, is a good carrier of the new dendro artifact too because of its up time and aoe. 35% hydro damage bonus from archaic petro is not bad as well. Also 125 EM is good too considering the duration and CD of his burst with potential downtime of only 2s.
ALso, you won’t use Dendro traveller and Collei forever. There would be a time where a better dendro off-field would come that would benefit better with other 4pc sets, and would have better dendro application.
Not everyone gets c1, much less c2. Also 500 < 625.
Freeze stops enemies from moving and has a potential to trap enemies in one pack like flies stuck to a glue trap.
When all is said and done, option is still the greatest piece that a unit can offer. Might not be optimal, but definitely offers better enjoyment. We can't have future characters right now BUT WE HAVE OTHERS RIGHT NOW THAT WERE DENIED USAGE.
Zhongli still reacts with Hydro. It causes Crystalize, which removes said elements’ aura. Albedo can also effect Bloom this way. Do you understand how that can affect damage output and rotations?
I already said more Dendro characters are yet to come in the future. And I already said I don’t necessarily agree with all of Nilou’s constellations. Did you even read my post?
Other characters have been denied usage after being heavily used and dominating the meta for 2 years (and counting).
CRY MORE.
The only one crying is you. ICD exists, so geo aura isn’t an issue for anyone other than the incompetent. This is especially true for Albedo, who only procs his E once every 1.5 seconds.
Denied usage? The same meta characters have been dominating the abyss since their release. This reeks of copium.
What am I crying about?
Weren’t you the one who said that other characters are denied usage? And I quote:
“We can’t have future characters right now BUT WE HAVE OTHERS RIGHT NOW THAT WERE DENIED USAGE.”
I gave a possible reason why, which you only repeated.
Ele… animal? Si? Todos ustedes son animals? Si si… buenos senor, contento. Me no habla ingles, si senor.
I might have too much copium in my blood system but…
I think building her as general DPS or full HP is a way to go with her.
She is not the one triggering bloom, it’s other characters so e.g. DMC/Nahida goes full EM, give Barbara/Kokomi some EM too(Sacrificial Fragments)
Full HP to buff team created cores, DPS to deal dmg while on field.
OK now back to inhaling my dose of copium.
With the DPS build, she might not be as strong as Ayato but still, she will be decent =D I wanna play her different style, it’s cool to have a char with a unique mecanic and polyvalent at the same time =D
Hydro is “weak” to Dendro, so she will be proccing some blooms unless you specifically avoid using her DoT ability.
By “weak” I mean that applying Hydro to Dendro removes 0.5 stacks of Dendro , meaning Hydro>Dendro= 2 Blooms while the reverse removes all stacks at 2x the rate, so you would need someone who applies 4 units of Hydro per second to “reverse bloom” at the same speed – or 2 characters who apply so much hydro and dendro that it doesn’t even matter, but then both would proc randomly.
She is definitely a full HP character that requires a high EM investment.
I wouldn’t roll her without the weapon. It’s basically the same value of Raiden’s C2 on her.
88% HP , 400 EM for her and 140 for the entire party.
If you don’t get the weapon, I’d give her at least 1 piece with mainstat EM and try to have her at around 800, even if you lose a lot of the passive bonus.
