Item Story
This was in the distant past, before the prosperous port city was ever established. Then, even the abodes of the adepti were not spared from the flaming beacons of war. The lords once worshipped as gods fought for reasons their own, Blood and fire, separation and betrayal. All the mortal world was stained. Those who lost everything in the tumult fled to the mountains, and there they begged for the adepti for shelter. Doggedly pursuing those survivors were countless monsters who had long since lost their senses. Their names were unknown, their numbers uncountable, they came on like a flood, destroying all in their path. The other master that they had once revered had fallen, and their fierce roaring was, in truth, a final mourning howl. But the mortals then could not have known that the lord who once defended these mountains and waters had now passed, And that all that stood between them and the onrushing deluge of catastrophe were a few vigilant yaksha who dwelled there. After several days of fierce battle, white clothes had turned scarlet, and scarlet garments had been stained black. Still, the monsters came on like an endless horde... As this tale dates to days ancient beyond memory, the tale thereafter has branched out into many versions. Some say that just as all hung in the balance, An adeptus with azure and white feathers burst from the clouds like a descending gale, Solitary, solemn, silent, in proud majesty and dignity did this being defend and administer the forebears, Turning a hopeless cause around by vanquishing what had appeared a limitless tide of monstrosities... Others say that as things appeared most perilous, two jade-carved cranes hurtled from the skies above, And in a hail of sigils did they subjugate countless evils as a chill wind disperses an expanse of cloud. But when all turned to look, Lo! There were no cranes, but an adeptus airborne, folding fan in fair hand... Still others claim that so far above mortal reach was this adeptus's might that the ancestors but heard a crane's cry, And before them, the endless monsters were as ash in an instant, like dust that dissipates in the sunlight... No matter which version of the tale, the people of Liyue thereafter would, when speaking of the adeptus Cloud Retainer, Would never fail choose their words with some respect. And as for what really happened back then... "Interested in such distant matters? You truly are a person of some leisure." "Well, what with a similar mood being upon oneself, one shall speak of it." "Now, one believes this tale may be naught but eight or nine hours in the telling, but you should pull a chair up, still..." "...What? Were you trying to slink away while one was distracted!?" |

Does the passive effect work on Wanderer too because he is in the Air and do attacks while falling.
So would Xianyun a better support then banett?
This is truly one of the comments of all time.
idk but despite being niche, this weapon in its role is one of the most broken in the game
i guess only freedom sworn is competitive like this for the buff they’re supposed to provide
r5 a weapon is a stupid thing that only whale think could do, but in that case, 80% plunge dmg is absurdly high
i mean…. just this weapon alone is enough to make 100k plunge 180k, it’s too stupid
ive never been so curious to see a showcase. I wonder how much xiao will reach, but i doubt it will be difficult to reach 3-400k in a whale team, as average damage
i dont think thats how it works. say that the plunge multiplier is 200%ATK, the weapon would add 80%ATK to the multiplier therefore its 280%ATK.
This Fan slaps harder than most weapons in the game, only beaten by Calamity Queller and Song of Broken Pines. (both are at 741)
this passive buff the equipping character
as well?
With the recent changes, now it does.
don’t tell me that TToDS will be very competitive again :’D
Is it just me or are the multipliers absolutely insane at higher refinements? I mean, it goes from 28% increased plunge dmg at R1 to 80% increased plunge dmg at R5. Are these numbers actually true?
If it is true, it’s just more whale bait. That said, it must be a mistake, surely?
it is like kokomi weapon. has more refinement scaling than usual because it is a healer weapon useless for someone else.
check on a calculator yourself; at r5 it could add a real ton of dmg bonus, clearly depending on your whole team and whatever, but easily several k
c2r5 xian could literally double xiao’s plunge (and if you use benney, you can use him to buff xian’s atk as well…)
it scales the damage bonus more than double, but the energy recharge less than double. several weapons do sometimes like that where the scanning is skewed to one part of the passive over another.
a weapon which does nothing else but buffing plunge attacks is the wildest move so far
(and the same old 3star TToDS is not that far from this….)
i almost sleep on this main atk stats but seeing the passives like goddamn its too good for buffing xiao
if you are a xiao simp then go pull for this weapon
it’s a xiao buff that is locked in a weapon hoyo being greedy
dunno have money for that
Holy sh- I’m not good at theorycrafting at all but isn’t this like a crazy good weapon? It helps a lot with energy issues because I don’t think it has any timed restrictions (apart from the effect’s CD). With Xiao, you could easily do ~10 plunge attacks per burst, so that’s worth about 25 energy at C0. The plunge dmg buff also lasts really long too. What are you guy’s thoughts on this? Is it a must pull compared to Xianyun’s C2 buffing dmg for only 1 enemy?
It’s pretty good
Assuming at least 8 plunges (which is needed to exhaust Xianyun’s stacks anyway) it would give Xiao 20 energy, basically reducing his energy cost to 50, and all those plunges have 28% dmg bonus
Idk how it compares to her C2 though
I assume you are talking about the energy restoration effect of the weapon? If so, it only restores energy to the equipping character, not to Xiao.
I’m assuming they’re talking about if Xiao WAS the equipped character?
It’s a catalyst…
Oh yeah I’m stupid
I thought it was for the character performing the plunge
that’s unfortunate but it’s still nice for Xianyun
It is unfortunate. I hope they do some serious buffing to her. Will probably skip this weapon and just run her with TTDS or something.
there are calculator for that (unless you’re the average stupid who watches retard showcases on yt), like genshin aspirine
28% is good, but not that great compared to other buff; it’s only her what will make the final difference.
for a good xiao who plunges at 40k (unbuffed, alone) that 28% means more or less 45k
a normal faruzan could buff more or less 20k, which means you gained 1/4 of that amount with that weapon; that is, cloud retainer MUST buff at least the same amount alone, but for me personally, she has to be WAY more, because she’s a 5star. And unless you want another shenhe joke, where a 5star has limitations which a 4star doesn’t have, you expect much higher buffs.
And we’re talking of this considering her weapon.
to sum up, i expect from her a minimum of 25k more, but an average of 30k
i can’t have a faruzan who does just a bit less if im pulling a 5star (and remember, this is plunge, not anemo dmg… which makes faruzan still more valuable as anemo support; and yes i know she buff ever character’s buff, but it’s a very niche playstyle, you can’t go plunging with everyone and makle the same result in a dps rotation)
Thank you for your insight. It is really helpful
there is a timed restriction, but it’s short enough to not matter much, it’s probably just there so it gets triggered just once per plunge in aoe scenarios
