Item Story

The "pearl and waves" emblem of the Sangonomiya is said to represent the waves that embrace Watatsumi,
And the bright pearls that can be found there. But some also say that it shows the jeweled wheel of Watatsumi Omikami keeping eternal vigil over the land of coral like the moon.

In the dreams of the deep sea where sponges and coral dwell, in the depths where flowing clouds and ocean sands dance as one,
Undying hope would pass from generation to generation of those descended from their god — they who dreamed the same dreams as Watatsumi.
The colors of the skies are ever-changing, and the lights and shadows cast deep beneath the waves are of forms ill-defined...
Thus did the brilliant compassion that the dark ocean could not conceal diffuse in tranquil bliss.

In those days, the first Divine Priestess once led her brethren with wisdom as precious as pearls,
And she selected clergy from amongst the people newly introduced to the sun, who aided the offspring of their god in comforting those for whom the light of day brought terror.
In latter days, the "Umigozen" who made the navies of Narukami tremble would sing whale-songs alongside them,
And it was this symbol that they drew as they danced with the airborne kurage.

Some years later, a single bolt of lightning would reject the dream of the Watatsumi people.
Into the storm slithered the serpent, the lightning's ruthless glow to surely face...
But the children of the god and the shrine maidens, who had hearts of pearl, would not forget.
Countless tales, gratitude unnumbered, and that ring of ocean gems would forever be passed down,
And they would shine ever brighter and more beautifully for it.

Whether it be the histories of the jeweled branches being torn or the birth of precious pearls,
Or the defeat of wicked creatures in the depths to bring sunlight to the pale nation beneath the waves,
Or how the young man who dreamed of standing atop Mt. Yougou came to have the name of an "evil king," and had his great duel against the tengu...
All these would light up the hearts of the children of Watatsumi, like pearls from the heavens, like waves under the moon's glow.
They will carry the pain of loss away into the churning, salty waters, storing them within radiant pearls.
May the stories and sacrifices of the age of gods forever be handed down, along with this emblem of "pearl and waves."

Even if the storm clouds should gather, and even if the violet lightning's ferocity be perilous and unpredictable,
The silver moon of Watatsumi shall still pierce through the clouds and scatter forth its light.

It’s like a 11-15% increase over a R1 Prototype Amber f2p weapon, depending on your artifacts, and in electrocharge comp r5 Hakushin Ring also f2p is actually better than it for overall team dps. It also even restores less energy for Kokomi than Prototype Amber. Truly awful for a niche weapon only 1 character can use. Meanwhile her c1 is like a 30-40% DPS increase lol…

Is this catalyst good for anyone else besides Kokomi? I don’t really want this weapon but unfortunately Primordial Jade Cutter is rumoured to be in the same banner.

i just wanna know how this weapon isnt as controversial as kokomi yet, its a hp catalyst, increases normal attack dmg exclusively by flat fucking damage, its base atk cant even make up for it because its so low, its such a pretty but such a bad weapon, id love to get it for my kokomi for sure but this weapon needs to be buffed, in any case just make Bake-Kurage scale off HP damage and then we actually have decent numbers for a character who does damage on HP, They really did miss a great opportunity if they made kokomi scale with hp, imagine an off field and actually good hydro enabler

We will see soon. HER damage would always scale on HP and healing bonus on burst, Unlike in Crit mechanics, you need to have high crit rate to land the Crit damage multiplier.
Hers multipliers would always land by default on her burst. (eyes opened or not HAHA)
      Im currently approximating her damage

At Atk 1200, 40000 MAX HP, Hydro damage 75.4, with full set maiden activation healing bonus of 95.9

      Raw damage would be:
      Burst Normal: 8k-9k,
Burst Charged Atk: 10.5k without any reactions.

Burst lasts for 10 sec. so if she can hit at least 6 pairs of Burst Normal atk burst charged atk then thats around 114,000 damage in 10 sec. (Raw no reactions)

Though this are purely math approximations. 😀 I have excel file projections for her still not decided if i shall pull, if the upcoming bleed mechanic is deadly since i dont have qiqi.
Multipliers used are for Level 9 Normal and level 9 burst.

You’re telling me if I have 20k HP, 1% of that is 200. I’m increasing my normal attacks by +200%? That’s broken.

No it says that your normal attacks deal more damage equal to 1% off her hp so meaning her attacks would deal 200 more damage

      1% of 20,000 is 200, not 200%.

No, if you have 20k hp, then this weapon will give your auto attacks 200 more damage, so if the base power would be 500 it then would rise to 700, we can assume that this bonus damage will get influenced by additional damage sources as well, so, it is very realistic to have a Kokomi with around 40k hp and if you have 4 pieces of the hydro set, then the damage would get increased by 400 + the multipliers from the artifact etc. so around 1k extra damage in total

sry bro, it means that ur attacks will deal additional 200 dmg. But i think it’s not like it’s just +200 but rather it’s 200 boosted by all the buffs that would go after that (like hydro dmg bonus or normal attack damage bonus would be applied to that too)

I don’t think that is the case, i think it’s work like Zhongli A4 passive which is a flat damage increase so if your normal do 1000 damage and you have 20k hp 1% of that would be 200 so your normal attack will do 1200 damage.

The best build seems 2 peaces maiden + 2 peaces hyrdro, sand = HP %, Cup HP % and Helmet Healing Bonus
The main stat between Cup and helmet depends on sub stats and weapon. 20% HP from tenacity set seems useless because we can still get 20 HP % from artefact sub stat. But for the hydro bonus Cup I don’t know but normally she should to get 60K HP for a good decent build…

      • NorthZane on 10 September 2021 at 2:21 pm
      • Reply

60k hp is very unrealistic, even if you go full into hp, you would need god like hp rolls to get 60k, most will have between 40k and 50k hp, including a hydro goblet or healing bonus circlet

Hmmm…. I did some calculations and my math might be off, but comparing hp build to atk build, kokomi doesn’t get a lot of damage from her hp nor atk builds. Im getting 3k to 5.5k damage max depending on how you build her per tick of her e, now her burst adds a lot more to that, but its such a selfish burst. She will be underwhelming as a support for sure.

Considering that 200% outgoing damage multipliers and 200% crit damage works out to be 900% damage. Maybe this thing really does give a Normal attack DMG multiplier, but that’s hell expensive to r5 this weapon to be able to have the same damage multiplier output as a character with 200% outgoing multipliers (i.e Elemental, Normal DMG) and 200% crit damage.

Going for a whole HP build on a catalyst user that doesn’t factor HP in their damage probably won’t be of much use as it is for Kokomi, cause you probably only have like 1.1 -1.2k attack, and it only buffs normal attacks and not charge attacks, so Klee, Ninguang and Yanfei are the only other ones with decent normal attack multipliers.

Uh… You are deluding yourself if you think that is all this weapon does… This weapon has the same effect as Staff of Homa. If you only have 30K HP on your Kokomi, then you are not building her right. She should have about 60K if you build her right. Additionally, it is Hydro damage, so with vaporize, which can be easily achieved using Xiangling, it is 1.2K more damage, and that is assuming you have really bad artifacts. Also, it gives HP, which also increases your damage by a lot. Overall, this should increase your damage per hit by around 3-6K. This is just another excuse to trash talk Kokomi.

Her optimal main dps builds are 4pc HoD or 2pc HoD/2pc Maiden with HP/Hydro/HB mainstats. Even with highest possible HP substats, 50k is the max for this set up. Still 30k is with no substats, so getting around 40k is high end but reasonably possible.

Regardless, Everlasting Moonglow is better than Prototype Amber but not by 3k-6k, more like 1k at R1. That’s still a decent boost considering she’ll be doing 6k-8k per hit with Amber, but considering it’s lack of good users outside of Kokomi, I can’t recommend it even when ignoring weapon banner memes. Besides part of Kokomi’s appeal is how she’s a bit less RNG reliant to build, so going to the weapon banner for her kinda defeats that purpose.

Oh also, I doubt Xiangling alone can keep up with Kokomi’s hydro application, but thankfully Thoma comes next patch!

But her ascencision giver her xtra 15% dmg based on her healing bonus to add to ther max hp ratio for her ult. So fo example she has 25% base healing bonus from ascension and +20 healing bonis artifact around 39+% and this weapon give 10% healing bonus it would give 15% of 75% healing bonus which is around 11.25% max hp scaling and 1% max hp dmg bonus and the ult itself give her aa and ca around 8-12% max hp dmg so she is dealing around 20% max hp bonus on her aa n ca during her ult. ideally her should be around 35K so that is about 7K + dmg as extra bonus though the 0 crit still make it sad but let’s see when she is officially release

Does that mean Takamine is originally from Sangonomiya? Since everything else in this weapons lore is about Sangonomiya history. Actually, that’s why it didn’t occur to me before that it could be him, since none of the other lore about him mentions him being from Sangonomiya, but he definitely does seem to fit the description here otherwise…… Anyways, thanks for answering me!

Well yes but no, The weapon effect states that it Increases ‘Normal Attack DMG’ not the value of Attack, 40K hp would ad 400 dmg but the game Counts it like this:

ATK: xx + 400 * (% Depending of Normal Attack Talent) hence not exactly 400 DMG otherwise it would’ve counted like the following ATK:xx * (% % Depending of Normal Attack Talent) + 400DMG

            • Greedy on 8 September 2021 at 2:38 am

No, its not counted like that, no one would code like that and it does state “DMG”, not NA’s atk, u can try to take a look when its out

            • Good boob on 10 September 2021 at 11:25 am

Nope, it means ‘Normal Attack Bonus’ just like how rust works. That means if you have 60k hp, each 100 flat HP you have will give 1% Normal Attack bonus and you’ll get 600% Normal Attack Bonus and not 600 flat attack bonus. That’s kinda broken tbh. This weapon I mean

Not sure but I guess what u mean is that 1% will be hydro dmg from her normal atk or just a white (physical) additional dmg like spine or other skyward weapon do, then probably directly added to her normal atk, hydro not physic, it states that the dmg source is her normal atk

I don’t think they realize what damage this weapon really does, the passive gives you a bonus based on 1% hp, in a normal kokomi build with this weapon it can easily reach 40k hp, which is an increase in damage by 400 points in the damage of the NA during the ultimate, they also have to take into account the additional statistic of healing bonus, this stat indirectly adds another improvement to normal attacks, 15% of this bonus of Healing is 1.5%, which is transformed into a bonus from normal attacks and charged with the passive talent, which in the same build of 40k hp are 600 points of damage more, in total this weapon would grant 1000 points of extra damage, if Maybe not that much, but keep in mind that this also affects the hydro bonus multiplier, which you can get to 90.4% with the chalice, passive stat and the 2 set of heart of the depths. Now if you add the damage with kokomi’s C1 you can get too much damage increase during his ultimate

The reason for this is the original stat, not the end stat.
Energy Recharge itself is a percentage stat, so if you take a chunk out of that, you’re still left with a percentage because that’s how the value is shown. That’s why you’re given an Atk% bonus instead of a flat Atk bonus.
Meanwhile, Max HP is a flat value, so your NAs are going to be increased by a percentage of a flat number, resulting in a flat number as the end result.

    50% of 100% is 50%
    50% of 100 is 50

honestly this weapon is so bad it hurts
most people are hoping though its 1% of max hp, it would be multiplying that flat damage with the wielders normal atk damage, both scenarios of it being flat atk or a multiplier seems ridiculous, one scenario making the weapons purpose and value 0, and the other scenario making the weapon extremely powerful. literally tripling the damage of Kokomi’s normal attacks
since its worded differently to staff of homa which actually gives flat attack, people are taking in alot of kokopium lol, myself included

I’m a bit confused as to why this weapon works a bit differently than Engulfing Lightning when they are worded identically. EL says ATK (note it doesn’t say %) is increased by a percentage of energy recharge, which results in an ATK% multiplier. This weapon also says that NA damage is increased by a percentage of max HP, but everyone is saying it results in a flat damage value? I’m not saying those people are wrong, I’m just confused why EL results in ATK% and this weapon doesn’t result in NA DMG Bonus %. 🙁

People are not being clear enough.

It’s a “1% of max HP” added to the talent modifier scaling.

So if your specific normal attack had “50% atk scaling”, it now has “50% atk scaling and 1% hp scaling”.

Functionally the same as “adding a flat hp to each attack”
