Item Story

This bow, crackling with thunder, retains its luster despite having been soaked in thick darkness.
When disaster came from a distant sea, it was once the favorite weapon of a great swordsman.

In his youth, he wandered the mountains, and he made a wager with a great Tengu he came across.
He gambled his young, strong body as a bet against a bow given by the Shogun.

As for the gamble itself, he could only sometimes recall it, when he was drunk.
But by the time dawn came, he had three wins and three losses — his contest with the Tengu was a draw.
So in the bad news, he was taken as a servant by the Tengu. But in the good news, he won that unmatched bow.

"Behold, Konbumaru, this is Tengu archery. Watch and learn!"
He was given this rather ridiculous nickname, but ultimately, he witnessed the Tengu's form.
Soaring through the cloud unfettered, unleashing thunderbolts with every bowstring's pulse...
It was a true, unreserved dance of death. Fierce and unpredictable, elegant and beautiful.

Many years later, he was no longer a servant boy, and he had grasped both some archery and swordsmanship.
He was referred to the Shogunate through a recommendation letter from his impatient master.
In the years under the Shogun, his martial skills improved greatly, and he made many friends and enemies.
Still, his hobby of unrestrained wanderlust had not changed. On the contrary, with the Tengu's great bow, he became yet more fearless.

"Let's make a wager this time, shall we? Hmm. Right, then. This bow shall be my wager."
"I bet on the mightiest bow in the world that I will return here alive."
"I'll leave it here with you for now. If I, Takamine, lose our bet, you can keep the bow."
"After all, you've inherited the essence of my archery techniques. You'll be able to make good use of it."
"But if I win..."

When disaster swept in from across the distant sea, the samurai and the obstinate shrine maiden had a mutual wager.
They bet on his safe return from the abyss against the inscribed bow bestowed by the Shogun.

When the dark venom sank deep into the earth and peace returned, the swordsman did not come back.
The Shogun's bestowed bow was given to the shrine maiden as her prize for winning their great wager.
Later, in the forest where the Kitsune Saiguu would no longer appear, in the promised meeting place,
The lone returnee who came stumbling back from the abyss finally met the shrine maiden again, though by now she could no longer be called young.
Dull eyes stained with dried blood and tears regained their radiance, but were pierced through by a barbed arrow glowing with power.

Thundering Pulse is best in slot for Tartaglia. That being said, if you already have a Lvl 90 Skyward Harp, don’t bother. Plus, you’ll need to switch up artifacts since Pulse gives Crit Dmg. For best use of Pulse, make sure to time your combos to get all the stacks, there’s probably some videos on YouTube for the best rotation.

Ganyu’s best in slot is Amos.

I don’t know if you ever use Fischl but basically what you can do is Pulse on Childe, Amos on Ganyu, Harp on Fischl, Stringless or Windblume on Venti, Sac on the usual suspects like Diona. Pulse is honestly good on everyone, its the closest thing to a universally good bow we’ve had since Harp.

Thank you Mihoyo… and F*** you… and see you again in Baal banner

Ganyu will do more dmg with amos, no way; maybe this bow is better with high ref, for sure not both 1. Amos’ passive for distance is OP for charged attack.
Strange that nobody havent done a proper comparison yet, and anyway the most of the videos are made by retards who changes the build while switching bow, or worse they use food and buff, so we can’t understand anything. The best thing I suggest to everyone is to use damage calculators, but I don’t see neither yomi nor this bow yet. We have to wait a while again.

It works Better in Morgana comp, where you don’t charge shot that often. It’s Equal if you do 3 charge shot per rotation, less, this bow is better, more, this bow is better.

Ganyu will deal sooo much more damage in this bow because
1- it have insanely high crit damage scaling
      2- increases 20 attack% permanently
3- is a 5* so have much higher base attack than a 4*

But it’s upto you to choose since the drop rates is split with skyward blade aka the worst 5* weapon.

And adding this incase anyone finds it helpful
The weapon soft pity is at 63 and hard pity at 77 unlike the character banner which have soft pity at 74 and hard pity at 90

I wonder what bow should I use for Childe. I have R1 Harp and got this bow as well. People tell me to keep harp, while some tell me to use TP. I’m very confused.

They’re very similar in damage, but Thundering Pulse is a bit better (unless you play him as burst support in which case Harp is better)

I’d say it depends on your artifacts. If you have a good set with a lot of crit rate then TP will work best. If you have a set with a lot of crit dmg then the Harp will work best.

Harp still wins on pure physical Fischl, but loses to it slightly if you’re going hybrid, which apperantly has more damage potential overall.

So far your argument are valid. CDmg sub is so good, with this weapon Ganyu can possibly have 300 CDmg which Amos can’t but in trade Atk stat. Harp is no more near this since Ganyu no need high CRate. Ganyu’s passive already gives CRate, Ice resonance tho, and don’t forget full Blizz if you want. But still it’s sad that 40% normal atk bonus won’t work for her.

LMAO? can you even read what this weapon does? it gives 20% attack and 66.2% crit damage with 608 base attack. 20% attack 66.2% crit damage > 22% crit rate, 20% crit damage, it is easily better than skyward harp on ganyu, even without the normal attack passive this weapon will be almost as good as Amos for ganyu.

In terms of stat distribution, crit rate should be valued at 2:1 to crit damage. So really, you’re looking at a 64.4 total crit value on Skyward Harp compared to a 66.2 total crit value on Thundering Pulse. Pulse does get a 20% ATK bonus, but it also has a base ATK of 608 versus Skyward’s 674, which makes the two fairly comparable; You’ll see a higher return on ATK% artifact substats and other buffs with Skyward Harp’s higher base ATK.

Whatever slight deficit Skyward Harp has compared to Thundering pulse is terms of raw stats is negligible, and I’d say Skyward pulls ahead thanks to its passive. Thundering Pulse’s passive is objectively useless on Ganyu, whereas Skyward’s is constant additive damage every 4s, easily bridging whatever slight gap may exist in DPS between the two.

So no, I wouldn’t say it’s “easily better”. If anything, it’s a bit worse. But still a solid option if you don’t have Skyward or, of course, Amos.

            • venti enjoyer on 11 August 2021 at 1:55 am

isn’t crit dmg much more important for ganyu than crit rate though? especially with her passive already giving cr and assuming freeze build

      • Reply

no, it will not affect charged attack damage skyward harp is even a lot better

What? dude LMAO of course it isn’t this weapon is better than harp on ganyu, 20% attack, 66.2 crit damage > 22.1 crit rate 20% crit damage.

          • Kaizoku on 10 August 2021 at 7:31 pm
          • Reply

You’re severely undervaluing Harp. You need twice as much crit damage as you do crit rate for optimal stat distribution. That is to say, 1% crit rate should be valued equally to 2% crit damage in overall crit value. With this in mind, if we value Thundering Pulse at 66.2 based on its crit damage, then Harp should be valued at 64.2.

Given Harp’s higher base ATK and a passive that Ganyu can actually use, it most likely pulls ahead of Thundering Pulse. They’ll be comparable at best.

It’s a good bow, but the guys over at Keqing mains already did the calcs. It’s 8.6%~ worse than Amos for melt, being the second best option. But for freeze ( By far her most common composition for abyss ) Its in 3rd, behind r5 Prototype Crescent by 5.1%~. For the support role, it’s tied with skyward harp for BiS. It’s a good weapon but doesn’t really elicit being called ‘cracked’ considering it’s competitive with other 5* options.
