Item Story

A jade-colored longbow that is said to be able to shoot down even the twilit clouds over the horizon. Upon it is inlaid a precious bead.
Buried in the depths, it has long been drenched in darkness, yet its luster endures, ever shining and glowing.

In times long past, when a dark calamity befell the vermillion valley, countless Millelith soldiers sallied forth, heroism in their hearts.
Among all these valiant figures was a young archer who came from the mountains, and who would eventually remain in the depths, never to leave.

"I am the daughter of the cliffs of Glazed Sand Crystal. My blood knows no fear."
"With so many Millelith willingly heading towards their doom in battle, it would be shameful for us mountain people to just stand by and watch."
"It may be natural that a cataclysm that we have not yet seen with our own eyes remains a foreign and abstract concept to us."
"Yet now that it stands before us, how could we do anything other than hold the line and do our duty..."

The stubborn young woman stole the bow that belonged to her father, the tribal chief, by night, before following the Millelith as they sallied out.
As she steeled herself to never again see the light of day, the gem on the bow gleamed.

"The dark bats she felled with every shot, the giant tortoise of the dark ooze, she nailed to the ground."
"The magnificent bow danced like the clouds themselves, its arrows' cold gleam tearing through blighted beast-flesh."
"No deluge of filth from the abyss, nor twisted demon from the warped depths..."
"No incomprehensible terror could make her heart quail, or force her to retreat."

The people of the mountains would sing songs in praise of their daughter, though she of whom the songs spoke would never again return to them.
These tunes would change and shift with the passage of time like dawn's glow even to this day, yet she who owned the bow would never come back.

"The only thing I truly fear is to be lost and forgotten."
"Should ill fate dictate that I am to be buried in some nameless place, do not forget me."

Hmm… I tried to calculate if this bow can deal more burst damage for Yelan with eosf set than Favonius bow or not.
lvl 90 Favonius bow has 61.3% ER = 15.325% burst damage bonus
lvl 90 Fading Twilight has 30.6% ER = 7.65% burst damage bonus
    The difference is 61.3 – 30.6 = 30.7%ER ——> 7.675% burst damage bonus difference
    R5 Fading Twilight gives 12% / 20% / 24% damage bonus.
So, Fading Twilight gives more burst, skill and breakthrough barb damage than Favonius Bow, while Favonius Bow make Yelan recharge her burst easier and gives more energy to the team.

    Correct me if I’m wrong.

      • Reply

your calculation is on damage is correct if we only consider weapon.
You need to consider that 30.7% ER aswell. If you have 200+ ER, you will drop to 170+ which should be enough. If you are at 170 ER, then you drop to 140 and there your Yelan will actually lose damage (not per hit, but per rotation). You can use ER Sands to compensate, but then you lose solid portion of 46% HP and that will cost you damage.

So if you want to use this bow with ease, you should have at least 20-30% ER on substats while remaining solid CV. So this bow will be tricky.

While at first this bow looked amazing to me, after comparing it with other bows, it seems more like a nice “jack of all trades, master of none” since it doesn’t really accel in any one area. In terms of ER favonius is better since it has a higher ER stat and makes white particles, but the fading twilight has much better damage with its passive and atk stat, while still having an ER stat. However, then there is stringless which outclasses FT in terms of damage, with its passive which is basically broken at r5- and even if you don’t have stringless at R5, the damage is still fantastic. The EM stat can help even more for whatever reactions you are running. Even if you run FT or Fav with emblem, 25% of either of their ER cant match up to stringless damage. Only issue is that stringless might have more energy problems because of the lack of ER. Alley Hunter is another good bow, with a similar effect to stringless and higher base damage with an ATK bonus stat, but is only available on weapon banners, so its much more difficult to get a hold of.

In short nice bow if you dont have stringless, but if you do, then stringless is probably better- depending on what comps and artifacts you are running. It can also function as a nice sub bow if your stringless is being used by someone else.

This bow is to a character who need ER and the same time want to do damage. Could be great for Yelan and Sara for example, they need ER, they uses Emblem and have e high ATQ stats and dmg passive.

Like I said, for characters that need more ER then fav is probs better, not always, but usually. Also, while Sara can use the bow relatively effectively, she doesn’t necessarily need loads of ER, so even artifacts substat ER can be enough for her, meaning stringless is still probably better, even if it does mean slightly less base attack and useless upgrade stat, because at r3-r5 it’s better than FT. The extra atk stat being only a 7.8% increase in total atk/damage. Plus the effect is a little annoying to proc for her since she doesn’t do constant damage off field, making it a little harder to get full stacks in the minimum amount of time, but with a little time management it’s definitely possible. But then again, why wait at all when you can just use stringless instead.
This is the other gripe I have, the passive takes 21 seconds to fully proc, probably longer depending on rotations. Even if it does give some ER and slightly more base atk, the lack of wait time, EM and stronger effect just make Stringless better.
Tho despite this, like I said, it is still a decent sub for Stringless if someone else is using it.
Lastly, Stringless and fav are MUCH better on yelan than this bow, Stringless for pure damage and vape, and fav for more ER if she isn’t getting her ult off CD, with C1 making Stringless second bis after her own bow.

Forward vaping with hydro is not viable, there is no pyro support that can apply pyro fast enough to make yelan forward vape reliably, which means all that EM on stringless will do absolutely nothing…. same deal with fishcl and how she applies too much electro to be the reaction trigger .the damage bonus is dank though.

            • Dank Waifu on 2 June 2022 at 3:33 pm

Didn’t think about it like that before, but now that you say it, I agree most pyro units can’t apply pyro fast enough, but I think Xiangling or a pyro infused kazuha ult probably could, as well as maybe a Diluc/yanfei but they might be a little harder to pull off. Though you are also right that the em matters less because the vape is harder to pull off and less viable

I think it’s a decent bow for Yelan. yet, I think they could’ve reduced the time it takes to change “the bow’s state” into maybe 4 seconds tops? Yes, I do think the damage will be there… but the thing is, the game right now is all about how fast you can clear enemies in game modes like the abyss (or some other events that give the maximum reward based on how much enemies you have killed in a given time) because we all know that this game ‘currently’ (might be permanent who knows) is all about doing damage in a short amount of time.

But yeah, still a decent bow in my opinion.

You know what, I’ll build this bow for her. It looks sooooo Elegant with ER susbtats and an end percent damage bonus, sooo good. This seems like the catch but in bow form. The ER substat, although quite low, will still help Yelan with my current farmed build of EoSF and Burst uptime. If they gave this bow more ER, it will be quite cracked already. People, this is a wholly free weapon. They have to balance it somehow. Compare this with other weapons like the windblume’s ode, cinnabar spindle and dodoco tales. All of these weapons have limiter and are usuable in only some of the characters. Giving this bow a higher base atk would enable it to be a good alternative for other characters, not just Yelan.

thing is while this bow looks decent for most characters, we cant instantly assume its made for yelan, the base attack is rather high, ER is a bit low, i personally think if you dont have a good weapon for yelan like a CR/CD weapon or an ER% weapon this is totally a viabale option, but it is NOT specifically made for her, i feel like they went with these stats to make the weapon more generalized, after that albedo sword, am sure f2p players would love this bow.

Dude, the fav bow is better damage since Yelan needs a lot of help with her energy, Fav doesn’t just beat it with damage (via lowering her ER requirements, letting you stack other stats on your artifacts), but it also has utility to boot like you said

It’s so good that theorycrafters consider it her 2nd best weapon behind Aqua

            • Not completely useless... on 16 May 2022 at 7:06 am

The whole narrative changes when she’s at C1. ER requirement would be drastically lower so any excess amount takes away the opportunity for higher DPS. So no, Fading Twilight is not completely useless.

Dmg-wise the Fav bow is actually quite good because you have to consider the fact that ATK is a dead stat on Yelan. Fav bow has low base atk and high ER to compensate. Where as this bow has high base atk and low ER.

This means that you can build Yelan with HP//Dmg/Crit on her artifacts using the fav bow and have good substats. With this bow, you’ll either need to run an ER sands or aim to have a decently high amount of ER substat rolls. Both situations sacrifice dmg.

Don’t forget that the Fav bow’s passive doesn’t just benefit Yelan. Your team appreciates those particles too. Which allows you to build more damage into them. Its too good.

burst duration is 15 seconds. 18 seconds cooldown. Her E is per 10 seconds. We could have used her E twice or so every rotation so thats 8 hydro particles – 24 energy. Lets put a battery in there, maybe Raiden in national team -24 energy. so she needs 46 energy. Without accounting for anything else, she could slap on the bow, emblem sets and an ER sand and that’s 200% ER and she can have 100% burst uptime

and this bow is actually usable for all bow character. nice base damage, meh ER, but then there’s 28% damage dealt which is quite nice. EVERYONE can use it. Unlike that albedo sword who only he can use.

So you need to know which one your on and use your skill / burst during the highest damage state assuming your attack snapshots. Also because its a damage buff and not a attack buff it’s still useful for Yelen.

The passive is about the same for both alley hunter r1 and fading twilight r5. Just use the one who has better stats for ur character (twilight if u need er, alley if u dont)

Alley hunter and Stringless probably still better but as a F2P option this might be the best yes
