Item Story

A nagamaki sword designed by one of Tatarasuna's inspectors.
It is said that the diagram is as simple and upright as that inspector was.

For a long time, before the introduction of the outlander technology that helped build the Mikage Furnace,
Tatarasuna smelted iron using the traditional "Tatara Metalworking Method."
After Mikoshi Nagamasa became the inspector, he was for a time obsessed with the grim loveliness of steel.
He thus consulted the similarly-inclined Armory Officer Miyazaki for advice,
With the end result being this tough and simple sword, the Daitatara Nagamasa.

Although he was only the foster son of the Mikoshi Clan, and although his fostered mother had stained the reputation of the Mikoshi,
And even though Mikoshi's only legitimate heir, Doukei, abandoned him and disappeared,
His self-admitted stupidity and loyalty led him to cherish the Mikoshi name all the more.
He strove to enter the government and got rid of the family's bad reputation with his diligence and righteousness.

When his yoriki Katsuragi was connected with but a single trace of misconduct, he had him executed without mercy.
Ever since then, the name of the sword and his title were changed forever.

Now that Sayu is out, does anyone know if the sword effect procs on all of her skill hits or only on the final kick? Asking because the sacrificial greatsword only procs on the final kick.

Tested, and similarly to the comment below about Chongyun, Sayu’s skill has a 10s duration, and the claymore passive procs at the start and end! As a note, it doesn’t seem to transfer to other characters after swapping.

Is the energy regenerated by the passive will be affected by the ER% I have on the character? like if I have 200% ER then this claymore effect would technically be doubled, is this the case?

Energy Recharge generally only affects energy gained from orbs and particles; passives that regenerate a flat amount of energy typically aren’t affected by ER.

Uhh say doesn’t chongyun have a passive talent that makes his E skill do damage at the end of its duration? and the skill lasts for exactly 10 seconds, which is the cool down on the sword effect… can chongyun proc the energy effect twice with one E skill?

Yess it works! Just checked it, chongyun’s e skill triggers it twice 😉

Damn, that’s a nice weapon for him, then! Only downside of this weapon is that you can’t E > Q instantly, other than that, looks great and the energy generation is good

which one’s better for beidou? sac greatsword, blackcliff slasher, prototype archaic, or the katsuragikiri nagamasa? struggling to rebuild her currently, and i use fischl for battery and some er already so i don’t think i really need a ton of energy recharge any help would be appreciated

oh yeah and for sayu out of those four i’d like some pointers as well but since she’s not out yet nobody rlly knows for sure

Since you’re running Fischl as a battery, I will assume you’re running Beidou as your main dps. If this is that case, then the katsuragikiri nagamasa won’t benefit your Beidou too much with its energy recharge stat, and the same can be said for sac greatsword (if you were running Beidou as sub-dps, then I would recommend katsuragikiri nagamasa since it seems like it would be good for her in that role). So for main dps, blackcliff slasher would be better overall simply because of its crit damage stat compared to prototype archaic’s atk% stat. Blackcliff’s passive will also increase your attack by 36% at r1 assuming you can keep 3 stacks (it is likely that the only time you won’t have any stacks will be against bosses, but even then Blackcliff still has the crit damage stat).
Although you can get r5 prototype archaic for free if you’re lucky with your prototype drops, blackcliff should still be better if you have one already or have enough starglitter to get it. Prototype archaic is still second best out of those options though for Beidou, so it should work fine if you already have one of those built but not a blackcliff already built.

As for which of those 4 would be best on Sayu, it’s difficult to say. Blackcliff slasher would probably be best if you plan on using her just for her damage, whereas prototype archaic would be better if you also care about her healing, since it scales with her attack. Then again, her burst also has an 80 energy cost, so both sac greatsword and katsuragikiri nagamasa would allow for more uptime on her burst (but between these two, I would use katsuragikiri nagamasa since her skill cd should be between 6 to 11 seconds depending on how long you hold the button for her skill). Assuming you were to use Beidou and Sayu on the same team though, I would probably give Beidou your blackcliff slasher, and Sayu could take prototype archaic. We don’t know if energy is going to be a problem for Sayu or not since we don’t know how much energy her skill will generate, so right now that seems like a safe bet.

Asking the question knowing that fact, is a bit.. I’m sure you’d be able to make an educated guess as well as everyone else. Again, it depends on what you want from her and what your artifacts will provide her.

Better base att and ER% than most weapon, so that’s a plus
If you’re fighting an agressive enemy that constantly attack you, Sac is better with double perfect counter, but most of the time, you don’t
Fav sword is actually pretty good. Its base att is lower, but the energy generated can be shared between members, not only Beidou herself like this claymore does

Definitely better than the Fav Sword, no questions about that. Apparently the Fav Sword generates Energy for other players as well in Co-Op but I don’t care about Co-Op. Whether it’s better than the Sac Sword depends on the character, the Sac Sword favors characters with powerful and/but long CD E.Skills. For characters with short E,Skill CD like Beidou or Razor, this is the better of the two swords.

HOWEVER, if you already got the Fav Sword or Sac Sword when pulling for characters, I can see the argument that this is not worth making, especially since there are claymores that are great for certain characters, like the Starsword for Eula or Whiteblind for Noel.

I don’t see why is this better than favonious greatsword.
fav can generates energy not only for the user of the sword but it can generate energy for all of your character in your team not only in co-op
and this sword can only generate flat energy for its user only i says this greatsword is on par with fav.

I have the sword maxed already at R5 lvl 90 and this weapon will deal more dmg than Favonious on skill dmg and burst dmg with beidou due to the weapon having higher base atk than Favonious. It feels better than Favonious for my team since Beidou need much more energy than the rest of my team and Zhongli already fills up one of my spots for a Favonious user in a team.
If you want your Beidou to have more burst uptime as well as dmg use this sword but if you think your team needs more energy use Favonious instead but if its not highly refined yet the new claymore outperforms it in my opinion

not useless since this weapon works off-field, so it means that every 10 seconds just swap to beidou and press E to let her activate the weapon passive and thats all.

It’s relatively similar to Favonius but is better for more selfish characters.

Favonius gives a rather large battery that you can swap in for another character while having basically no damage as it has type-41 and no damage passive, you can eat the battery on the character using this weapon but depending on comp you might not want that. Favonius also requires crit rate to consistently get the proc off, so for supports like Sayu who mainly wants Atk/EM it’s not very good.

This weapon gives more direct damage to your skill and the refund is always out pacing the cost, can also be avoided completely by using Burst first then using Skill after as there is no requirement for the passive, just that it eats some of your energy IF YOU HAVE ANY. So a Q > E > swap will never be punished like a E > Q > swap rotation might be.

Really it just comes down to the character using it.
Beidou and Sayu would definitely prefer this weapon over Favonius, while C2 Xinyan will always pick Favonius because she doesn’t need to build any crit rate.

Also note that both Fav and Katsuragi r1 will give you the same amount of energy at 6 but Katsuragi will give up to 12 at r5, though I’d say don’t refine it unless you can hit the intervals of r3 and r5 on it. Overall its just more selfish but also give you more damage while being more accessible (you get 4-5 billets guaranteed as of 2.0 so theoretically this weapon is 100% guaranteed) and doesn’t force you into building crit rate, making it better on Beidou and Sayu. I think this is also better for Chongyun who has very little ER requirements as well as a sub DPS and the more damage on him the better, making the Base Atk of this weapon more valuable.

I know everybody is thinking “the base damage is too low, the passive might not be worth it, the Elemental Skill DMG isn’t enough.

And I’m like “FUCK YEAH, KATANA CLAYMORE, LETS GOOOOO”
