Dominus Lapidis
#Every mountain, rock and inch of land is filled with the power of Geo, but those who can wield such powers freely are few and far between.
Press
Commands the power of earth to create a Stone Stele.
Hold
Causes nearby Geo energy to explode, causing the following effects:
• If their maximum number hasn't been reached, creates a Stone Stele.
• Creates a shield of jade. The shield's DMG Absorption scales based on Zhongli's Max HP.
• Deals AoE Geo DMG.
• If there are nearby targets with the Geo element, it will drain a large amount of Geo element from a maximum of 2 such targets. This effect does not cause DMG.
Stone Stele
When created, deals AoE Geo DMG.
Additionally, it will intermittently resonate with other nearby Geo constructs, dealing Geo DMG to nearby opponents.
The Stone Stele is considered a Geo construct that can both be climbed and used to block attacks.
Only one Stele created by Zhongli himself may initially exist at any one time.
Jade Shield
Possesses 150% DMG Absorption against all Elemental and Physical DMG.
Characters protected by the Jade Shield will decrease the Elemental RES and Physical RES of opponents in a small AoE by 20%. This effect cannot be stacked.
A true master of stone may carve jade and shape gold.

Zhongli's specialty. The ham is a butt end selected according to Yuehai Pavilion's gourmet standards. The fresh meat is pork belly, freshly hunted in Springvale, while the bamboo shoots are the densest you'll find in Qingce Village. It is then heated, slowly, gently, and with the utmost care and technique... Such a "particular" taste may only be shared with those who know how to appreciate it.

About Ganyu

Character Details
In Liyue's traditional customs, "receiving adepti" and "sending adepti off" are equally important.

The Hus of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, who have been in this business for 77 generations, are the masters of handling funerals. However, Hu Tao, the current owner of Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, primarily focuses on the art of sending mortals on their way.

For the various ceremonies for sending adepti off, Hu Tao usually employs the help of a friend in more or less the same business. That person's name is Zhongli. The adepti have been with Liyue for millennia, but only a handful have ascended in the past three thousand years, which means that everything regarding the traditions now only exists in texts. This is not something one would likely witness twice in their entire lifetime.

Not even the most particular and learned of researchers or scholars could find one fault in Wangsheng Funeral Parlor's ceremonies for sending adepti off.

Everything must be perfect, from the costumes, the time, the place, the items, the weather, the scheduled length, the size of the permitted audience, to the stature, profession, and age of the said audience. Nothing can be overlooked.

When folk describe Zhongli as "living history," the latter usually only smiles and sighs.

"I... just have a good memory."

In Liyue, if a person pays great attention to details, and has insuperable criteria by which they judge certain matters, then they are called "particular."

In truth, everyone is "particular" about something. Some people hate spicy food, others don't eat fish, and some want their tofu served sweet...

But as for Zhongli, he is particular about everything.

He must attend operas by the most celebrated performers, take the most luxuriant thrushes out for walks, and he must go into the kitchen personally to instruct the cooks as to the ratio of scallops and fish required to make the most authentic Fullmoon Egg.

Zhongli has expertise in all manner of things, from fashion to daily essentials, to fine wines and delicacies, to teas and spices, and to flora and fauna. He is also more than capable of participating in discussions on commerce, politics, and international relations.

But on a typical day, all you will glean from him is a few pieces of useless trivia, because he particularly enjoys sharing these fun tidbits with you.
Character Story 2

When making a purchase, look to slash prices.

This is common knowledge among the people of Liyue. No matter what high heavens the store owner praises their product to, no matter its ancient history or classical value, prices are always flexible. Half the stated cost is a good place to start.

But when Zhongli pays up (or rather, calls for someone else to pay up on his behalf), he never looks at the price tag. As long as it catches his eye, Zhongli will pay as much as the owner asks. Indeed, he will even buy it at a premium sometimes.

But for some reason, Zhongli always forgets to bring money.

For small purchases, he has friends to help him out, and large bills he somehow finds ways to have written off.

To those merchants who secretly pride themselves on their powers of flattery, Zhongli is a man of strange proclivities: in truth, he knows a great deal about the value of money and finance, and he also understands the suffering of the people. However, he seems to not understand that poverty is part of the human condition.

Or perhaps it might be said that he cannot imagine himself being poor.

How has such a person not died of hunger yet?
Character Story 3
Unlock ConditionUnlocks at Friendship Lv. 4
There is no way Zhongli can starve.

Such concerns as profit and loss are beneath his notice. The Seven Nations and the world itself are where his efforts are directed.

As for wealth... He is wealth itself.

He is Morax, the overlord Rex Lapis who rules Liyue, and the Geo Archon of the Seven Archons. The very money that circulates throughout Teyvat, Mora, is named after him.

When night falls, and bustling Liyue begins to slumber, he will sometimes stand atop the towering mountains and gaze upon this city, which he made with his own hands.

To the people of Liyue, Rex Lapis has many divine titles.

When he laid down Liyue's laws by his divine might, he was the God of Contracts. When he minted the first Mora and made Liyue strong by dint of commerce, the merchants revered him as the God of Commerce.

He has lived through countless years and is the eldest of the Seven, and so historians call him the God of History.

Thousands of years ago, the forebears of the citizens of Liyue Harbor struck stones together to start fires and used piled stones to create stoves. These blessings derived from the Geo element led the Geo Archon to gain the title of God of the Stove.

People from other lands tend to call him Morax, though the people of Liyue prefer to use the term Rex Lapis.

But in the hearts of lovers of opera and children, Morax's on-stage aspect, the all-conquering defender of Liyue — the Warrior God — is the most fascinating.

The delicacies that Rex Lapis discovered while lost in the streets, the plaques inscribed with his handwriting, a famous opera that he once starred in, playing the part of a warrior... Many stories and tales of Liyue are, when studied closely, stories of people visited by their deity at some point — and the citizens of Liyue are most proud indeed of that history.
Character Story 4
Unlock ConditionUnlocks at Friendship Lv. 5
As the founder of Liyue Harbor, "contracts" are the most important thing to Morax.

From simple monetary exchange and agreements between merchants to the ancient laws that Morax himself laid down, there is no part of city life untouched by "contracts."

To merchants, "contracts" are the most important standard that they hold themselves: deadlines, invoices, shipping destinations... Only a refined and strict order can sustain vibrant commerce, which is itself the lifeblood of Liyue Harbor.

Thus the Qixing punish violators of such laws unceasingly, not only to uphold the divine rulings of Morax but also to allow Liyue to maintain its vitality.

Through the millennia, every generation of the Liyue Qixing commits to interpreting the law, including subtle amendments to plug loopholes found in the law. Any loopholes that remain undiscovered are seen by the merchants as "permissible if unaddressed," and they make killings off such holes until they are discovered and patched up by the Liyue Qixing.

Amid this game of cat-and-mouse, the book that collates such amendments has reached a whopping 279 pages thick.

The person currently responsible for maintaining this book, the Tianquan Ningguang, is secretly (and humorously) referred to as the "Tailor of Liyue," in honor of her speed in patching these laws up, and for her sharpness of eye.

But no matter how complicated or tangled mortal laws become, one of these stands above all others in the eyes of Rex Lapis.

"The one who reneges on their words shall suffer the Wrath of the Rock."
Character Story 5
Unlock ConditionUnlocks at Friendship Lv. 6
Rex Lapis, most ancient of The Seven, has lived far too long.

Rex Lapis still remembers that moment when the final archon took their divine seat, thus ending the Archon War and the era of warring gods. The Seven were a diverse lot and dispersed far and wide, but they all shouldered the burden of guiding humanity.

As time passed, many of The Seven's titles changed hands, and only two remain of the first Seven: Rex Lapis and the Anemo Archon.

The carefree Barbatos, the Anemo Archon, is the second eldest of The Seven.

When Barbatos first came to Liyue, Rex Lapis believed his fellow archon to have encountered some terrible crisis in pursuit of their duties, thus requiring his aid.

So when Barbatos descended in a gust of wind, the Geo Archon had already prepared himself to receive this neighboring deity and lend what help he may.

But as he looked, the Anemo Archon tossed a wine bottle at him.

"Here's some wine from Mondstadt. Care for a taste?"

To forsake one's duty to deliver a single bottle of wine — what a preposterous notion!

Yet the Anemo Archon kept coming to visit, to explore Liyue Harbor, all sorts of strange questions on his lips. The Anemo Archon's questions knew as little limits as the wine in his hands.

From then on, the first Seven would often gather in Liyue.

Rex Lapis still remembers how those wines tasted.

The world has changed much since then, and all that was once familiar has faded into memory.

The seven seats changed and again were changed, till five of the seven at the table were all departed.

Nor would the duty of guiding humanity be honored by the new archons.

Even the hardest rocks may be worn down after three thousand years.

Nor would the wind ever return again.

One drizzly day, the ancient ruler was strolling about Liyue Harbor, and overheard a merchant telling one of his workers,

"You've finished your duties, go ahead and call it a day."

Long did he stand amidst the milling crowd.

"Have I... already finished my duties?"

During the Archon Wars, every corner of Teyvat was consumed in the fires of conflict. Not only did gods fight amongst themselves, but countless wicked things also sought to expand their domains.

One such type of creature caused no end of woe for the Geo Archon, long before he took that title along with his place among The Seven.

These foul creatures, straight from the murky depths of the ocean abyss, had a squishy exterior, and possessed agile tentacles that would live on even after being cut off, even secreting some thick and revolting fluid in the process.

This alone would have been enough to make them the most monstrous of all creatures, and still it was not the pinnacle of their monstrosity.

What made them so truly terrible was their small size, which gave them the ability to duck into unimaginably small nooks and crannies.

No space was too narrow for them, neither the wooden boards of tables and chairs, nor the seams of windows and doors and curtain folds, nor even books and brushes.

Many a poor soul had, on at least one occasion, unwittingly outstretched their hand, only to quickly retract it in horror with a blood-curdling scream at the sensation of something cold, clammy and damp, while one or more of these despicable creatures came crawling up their arm, leaving a shiny trail behind them...

At the behest of the people of Liyue, Morax agreed to wipe these creatures out. But these parasites upon civilization could not be destroyed like enemies on a battlefield, by simply summoning a storm of stone spears that would shatter the earth and churn the soil....

Still, he was the God of Contracts. His word had to be his bond.

So, he went through the town from house to house with prisons of stone, seizing these creatures one by one and locking them away for good...

This long campaign of pest extermination taught Morax the true meaning of "a burden lifted."

The grueling campaign itself, and the terrible smell of those ocean creatures' secretions, left a lasting impression on the deity.

Today, even when he goes out incognito as the mortal man, Zhongli, Morax gives those living, squirming seafood products a wide berth.

...Well, except for dishes where said seafood products have been sliced and diced into oblivion, such as seafood tofu. He'll quite happily eat those.

Once the Rite of Parting, of which Zhongli was both director and star, was over, the Fatui Harbinger named Signora appeared before him.

By prior contract, she was here to claim the Geo Archon Morax's Gnosis.

Before the Traveler and the two Fatui Harbingers, Zhongli related the truth that he had established a contract with the Cryo Archon.

In his own words, this was his final "Contract to End All Contracts."

Yet no matter how one looks at it, the loss of his divine ability to defend Liyue was too great a price to pay.

Even amongst mortals, the basis of a contract is "equivalent exchange."

And for the God of Contracts, who must have established countless such agreements in his long years of existence, such an important contract must have come with its benefits.

Now, the Geo Archon has given away his Gnosis as his part of the deal.

What, then, must the Cryo Archon have wagered to balance the scales?

Very small difference between 4 millelith and 2 archaic/2 noblesse, so just prioritize substats. Millelith is probably better with better substats, but farming noblesse is more resin efficient.

It has potential if you have C1.

From my personal exp. of using him in abyss since day 1 pre buff. I think somewhere around 18K “shield” HP is where you become immortal in abyss and this set could put your hp% geo% cr% tenacity build zhongli to that lvl.

This means your zhongli now can act as atk buffer. unbreakable defense. Okayish aoe burst subdps. Slap fav lance in so he can also generate energy for your team as well. Behold, the ultimate support.

Still, this build is expensive af and it is also not as efficient as farming your dps/subdps gears. Dont farm it unless your damage dealer”s” are already jacked.

In no universe should you EVER run a ATK% helmet if you are at 45%+. There are pure supports build that can benefit from having Healing Bonus Helm or HP/DEF Helm but no way in hell that an ATK% Helmet out DPS a CritRate or CritDMG Helm. You should only by running Crit Helms on the character you want to deal dmg with, NO MATTER WHAT – for supports it might be different.

If you want a balanced Zhongli then you should run HP%/Geo Dmg/Crit(Dmg or Rate). Zhongli does bonus damage based off his max HP so you aren’t losing DPS by building him with an HP sands. Check out his 2nd passive to see how each talent increases with his HP, his burst gains the most damage from it and should be his primary source of DPS. Circlet should be either Crit rate or damage depending on which one you need more.

1.39%hp buff on normal atk is more like a bait unless you are in need of dps, have c4 xinyan, could easily super conduct enemies or have geo with pyro resonance ready(each of given condition would be beneficial in terms of total output). His shield would better be on your other good dps, since he could act as burst support(or it might won’t be effective with physcial dps zhongli) and debuff enemies for your dps at the same time. At last, you always have to choose from physical dmg(auto attacks) and geo dmg(burst and e ).

something is very wrong when a 4 star support spear user (that can flex as a dps as well) has their lvl 1 talent equivalent to a 5 star unit. Dang his buffs for dps is literally nothing and still can’t match with xiangling since she has higher base dmg in her basic and abilities.

well zhongli has 6 basic attack and has a shield that decrease enemy’s physical resistance, so if they make zhongli’s basic attack multiplier is the same or higher than xianling, it will be super OP. But i agree that the multiplier is too low, instead of 30% at lv1 they should make it 35%-40% (xianling’s is 42%)

        • Airijko on 31 January 2021 at 11:00 am
        • Reply

It should be close like u mentioned, but even if it was the same values as xiangling, he would no compete because Zhongli is so split in damage. At least for Phys Xiangling, her multipliers are higher and she is pyro. Zhong is split between phys and geo (second worse element imo after electro in 1.3). Nothing amps Geo but geo itself and phys reduction doesn’t have high value compared to other reactions (unless u have invested a bunch). Super conduct gains a lot of dmg against the big enemies with high phys resistance, but most enemies have 10% phys resistance, and any phys reduction gets halved if it goes into the negative.

Beta Zhongli (at least what we saw before his release cuz it seems like he had way more in his kit, like E and petrification interactions), had his current lvl 3 talent as his lvl 1 for basic attacks + he also gave 20% INCREASE phys damage which was way more valuable than phys reduction.

I mainly talked abt main dps Zhongli here, but his kit is just horrible for supporting in the current content. We need damage, not shielding.

Even if you give xiangling’s basic attack numbers to Zhongli even after the buffs, i don’t think he will out dps a Xiangling overall, since she has high values in general + she is pyro, while Zhongli can only amp his damage by having geo resonance or super conduct. He can support himself, but other characters will benefit from his support aswell better than him as a dps. Xiangling is designed as a support but she has great numbers to make her a great dps, while Zhongli is lagging behind a 4-star f2p unit that falls short in the supporting or dps role

Have any of you done the maths, or understand how his buff works? The 1.39% of HP applies to every hit additively, acting like a Crescent Pike and buffs his AA by approximately 45%.

Pre-buff, Zhongli and Xiangling with the same stats (1.5k ATK, let’s say) did around the same damage in one full combo. Zhongli’s is slightly lower with full attack chain, but if you use perfect animation cancelling and cancel his 5th hit into a CA, it actually does slightly more.
Post-buff, Zhongli’s AA chain (assuming ~24k HP) does approximately 40% more damage than Xiangling’s AA chain. That is, without considering the RES shred. RES shred applies to both geo and physical too, and you will be running him with a 2nd geo, giving him access to an ~10k shield post-buff as well as a 15% DMG boost to everything while inside of the shield. This puts him miles above Xiangling as a DPS already, even if she has the inferior pyro resonance (yes, 25% ATK is not as amazing as it sounds). This comes with the fact that his RES shred will also boost the damage of your 2nd geo, be it Ning or traveller, by ~27% on most enemies, and will boost the damage of your electro, probably Fischl, by ~17% on most enemies.

He gives back a lot more to the team. Now, Xiangling’s only real advantage here is to amp gouba and pyronado’s attacks. Gouba’s attacks are not good, and miss the vast majority of the times to begin with. Pyronado is good, but comes with an 80 energy cost, coupled with Xiangling’s mediocre energy regen, she will need a dedicated battery and will still hit it less often than Zhongli will hit his ult. If you pair Zhongli with traveller or Ning, he has almost 100% ult uptime off cooldown already, and has the slight benefit of a 4 second CC, giving some breathing room along with the long I-frames, which Xiangling cannot provide. Gouba also have the chilli which is nice but not even remotely as good as a universal RES shred. Also note that not building Xiangling for Pyro DMG will reduce pyronado’s overall damage quite a lot even with consistent amp given by Xingqiu.

Sheesh, the lack of research people do before talking. If you want references to all of this, check KrushSG’s and Jinjinx’s videos on Zhongli buff. RES shred alone makes him an S-tier unit. Is his kit still crippled and 1-legged? Absolutely. Do I think the direction of the buffs was good? No. Do I think the NUMBERS they gave him were good. Yes. No doubt about it, and all the maths guys of Genshin agree.

            • JustYou on 3 February 2021 at 5:03 pm

Oh I forgot about that HP based attack buff lol. But yeah I never said zhongli was bad. I enjoyed playing with him pre-buff, and now after the buff I enjoyed him more. That shield adjustment and physical/elemental resistance is enough for me, because I played him as a burst support not as main dps.

Nothing goes through his shield with the new geo shields resist. You gain complete freedom to do any combos with other party members 20 seconds (or until broken if you didn’t build him with HP)
His resistance reduction to all earns you AT LEAST 10% bonus damage if enemies don’t have damage resist. and his ult can deal 50k damage on crit with bad artifacts at 40 energy cost (Hell, I don’t think I have the best artifacts but mine hits for 100K+ without food buffs on crit and even more with Bennett and have the ult back up and on cooldown)

Y’all need to chill with the powercreep, let characters shine in their own way, not just from big damage numbers but also in playstyle/gameplay.

We need an update on beta tests on Zhongli.
I’m not asking a DPS, it’s okay of he is a support but he must be a REAL support like Venti; he is the geo archon not the master of pillars!
    Problems to be solved:
    1. random energy generation, it must be constant
    2. area of geo resonance is simply ridicolous, enemy don’t stay still; do I have to mention Albedo or have you got the point?
    3. pillars make little damage and can be a problem for other chars during coop; climbing of pillars must not be automatic and in any case actually their function in quite meaningless
    4. hold skill must greatly damage petrified enemies as it was shown in presentation video, and without limitation of 2 targets
    5. after Ganyu release and her possible perma-frost on enemies , everyone is asking why using petrification; make his ultimate’s petrification status longer and more able to cause heavy damage (its’ simply absurd that Ganyu’s charge attack deals more damage!!!). Simplier way is to make the ultimate scale only and greatly with HP.

MAKE HIM THE GEO ARCHON HE IS, LIKE YOU DD WITH VENTI!!!!

I am satisfied with the buffs he will be getting as it tackled the major flaw of his kit which is his shield. He’s shield for me was the major problem of his overall kit other than the energy particle problem which I don’t really care since albedo is the guy for that, since I mentioned albedo reasons why zhonglis energy particle regen is not touched or change is because of albedo, albedo is a battery for energy particle, take that away and give zhongli an 100% particle then why need albedo? Zhongli pillar will do damage to surrounding enemies and generate particles 100% everytime unlike albedos Elem skill you need to attack enemies to generate particles, eitherway albedos as battery is still better even if zhongli has 100% energy particle regen but mihoyo didn’t and probably will not change his energy regen because combined with albedos structure it’s just a pool of energy particle and that’s somewhat broken. Zhonglis main purpose was shielding and CC so after the buff he’ll be the greatest shielder in the game and will finally be the geo archon that he is. Remind you that venti being broken has nothing to do being an archon that is all lore and story, take the lore version of archon and make them the exact power level as their playable version, why would you even pull for other 5 stars? If you could just have busted archons and have a team of archons that literally gods and has all their ability from their lore. Venti is broken because his element specializes with swirl and swirl is unique only to anemo, geo on the other hand specializes with crystalize and shield, not having the ability to react with other element sucks but with zhonglis petrification he doesn’t need a hydro and a cryo to stun an enemy, geo as an element relies of their fellow geo element to do damage.

Please understand how element works, knowing geo is still the weakest element even with the 1.3 buff to geo it’s still nowhere near melt and vaporize lvl in terms of damage because geo has no reaction. Ningguang being one of the strongest dps in the game can’t out damage a melt vaporize comp.

anyone has idea what the beta testers feedback about current beta zhongli? are they satisfied or can we expect another round of buffs?

I’ve heard in the beta he does more damage than C6 Childe. Is that true or is it BS?

I think it’s BS as someone from Reddit also says that beta testers say that Zhongli is still quite underwhelming. But both don’t have any sources so take it with a grain of salt.

http://imgur.com/a/MzbqSKO these dudes are insisting that c0 zhongli does more damage than C6 Childe.
So yeah…..I’m just here scratching my head cause math wise it doesn’t add up.

It’s just some dumbass playing smart. Zhongli is and will not be nearly as strong as childe no matter the constellation. I did, in fact, test in the damage calculator and result was 50% damage difference.

If he can deal more damage than Childe then all i can say is “good!” but i doubt it, probably some rando whoring for attention.

No, you are not too right about it. The first buff which is they increase the auto attack that scales on HP is bullshit. Literally not on point, if MHY said he-is-a-support. We all know that Zhongli was a purely main DPS, but they decided to change him to support (Hence, thats why him being a support is underwhelming. Unlike Albedo who is a support at the very first design of him). The only good buff he has is the phys/elemen shred. Now, we only need the petrify duration buff (1 or 2 s is ok) and his auto attack (geo spear) to deal geo damage.
