Character Details | |
Heyu Tea House has been a popular leisure spot for the people of Liyue. Its business thrives on two things, one of them being its boss Fan Er'ye's business acumen in inviting a top-notch Tea Master who tells the best stories of all. Besides that, there is also the performance of the acclaimed troupe, Yun-Han Opera Troupe. Its director and soul — a famed opera singer named Yun Jin — takes the stage at the tea house from time to time. While one can always get delicious delicacies or good storytelling as long as one knows where to look, Yun Jin's performance does not just await one there. As a result, you can always find fans of Yun Jin trying their luck at Heyu Tea House. While waiting for Yun Jin's performance, they discuss her past performances and how they feel about them. As such, more people frequent the tea house, with nine out of ten of them being Yun Jin's fans. Fan Er'ye couldn't be more satisfied with this state of affairs. |

Liyue Opera is one of the traditional arts of Liyue that has been passed down for generations. Liyue Opera enjoys a long history, and it has gone through quite some changes from what it was originally created to be. The good thing is, the Liyue Opera we see now retains the sophisticated-sounding vocals and richly varied melodies of old. Liyue Opera performers usually perform in troupes, and the most acclaimed one of them is the Yun-Han Opera Troupe. For generations, the troupe has been run by the historic house of Yun, and its current director is a prominent figure in Liyue Harbor — the opera singer Yun Jin. Yun Jin made her name at a young age when she stunned her audience with a sweet voice and lively costumes in her debut performance. The more she performs, the better-honed her animated and dynamic style becomes. Whether it's a delicate and dignified young lady or a mighty and honorable heroine, she can play any role. What's even rarer is that this young actress is also a playwright. Other than "The Divine Damsel of Devastation," the Yun-Han Opera Troupe has performed many other new plays in recent years, all of which were written by Yun Jin. With her superb skill, it is no wonder why long-time opera fans often visit Heyu Tea House to ask about Yun Jin's performance schedule when their starving ears demand good opera singing. |

Unlock Condition | Unlocks at Friendship Lv. 3 |
Yun Jin was born in a family of Liyue Opera performers. Her father is a playwright, and her mother used to be a famous opera singer in Liyue Harbor, taking up the mantle from Yun Jin's grandfather. In such an environment, Yun Jin was exposed to Liyue Opera at a very early age, often amusing herself by echoing her mother's singing. A childhood hobby, as many would tend to believe, seems unlikely to be developed into a lifelong career, yet Yun Jin proved to be an exception. She was serious about it and insisted on learning the art. Her parents were delighted to see their daughter's determination and imparted everything they knew about the Liyue Opera to her. As such, Yun Jin started learning the opera early. However, Liyue Opera is a complex art that takes years of perfection to master. So even for a child as gifted as Yun Jin, what awaited her was sweat and tears. While ordinary children might shy away from the pain of hamstring stretches and the tedium of memorizing lyrics, little Yun Jin hung tough and became quite accomplished. By the time she finished all the subjects in Liyue Opera, veterans of Yun-Han Opera Troupe who watched her grow up couldn't help but exclaim, "Yet another rising opera star is about to shine upon Liyue Harbor!" |

Many veterans of the Yun-Han Opera Troupe first joined the troupe when Yun Jin's grandfather was in charge. They have remained committed since Yun Jin took the troupe over. Their love for the art of Liyue Opera is so deep — perhaps even to an excessive degree — that they frown upon any other forms of music performance, including rock 'n' roll. Yun Jin, however, thinks otherwise. She finds that rock 'n' roll vibrates with vigor and even became friends with the rock 'n' roll musician Xinyan. Elders of the troupe are glad to follow Yun Jin's lead during rehearsals, but when it comes to daily life, they treat her like their little granddaughter. "Sweetie, listen to us. No spicy food, it hurts your voice. Meat is fine, but refrain from eating too much, or you will put on weight." "If you really can't help yourself, have more shrimp. Stay away from the... roll 'n' roll thing. All they know is yelling." These caring elders will nag Yun Jin about attending rock 'n' roll performance for hours on end. Faced with the impossible mission of persuading stubborn granddads and grannies, Yun Jin has to be creative. While it's not an option to go to Xinyan's performance, it's perfectly acceptable to visit Fan Er'ye's adopted daughter Xingyan and discuss Liyue Opera with her. The elders are not fond of the rock star Xinyan, but they have taken a shine to Xingyan the adopted daughter of Fan Er'ye. "I've heard that Xingyan can cook and do embroidery. She must be a polite and accomplished young lady. Yun Jin may be able to pick up a thing or two from hanging out with her. How capital!" Yun Jin has long got Fan Er'ye to agree on the details concerning the made-up Xingyan, so don't worry. No one's gonna call her out on this! |

Yun Jin goes by many names. To some, she is Director Yun, and to others, Sir Yun. They call her Director Yun for her leadership of the Yun-Han Opera Troupe. Though there are managers to help with everyday work, Yun Jin is the one who makes the big decisions. She thus earned the name of Director Yun from people in business circles. As for Sir Yun, that is another story. When Yun Jin's grandfather was in charge of the Yun-Han Opera Troupe, long-time fans respectfully addressed him as Sir Yun. After Yun Jin took charge later, these fans frequented her performances as well. There was once after a show when an impressed fan half-joked with others, "the Sir Yun we have now sings rather well too." A voice from the crowd immediately countered by saying: "How can you address a young girl as Sir?" Upon hearing this, Yun Jin curved her lips. "Those who were born early, learn early. They are naturally better-informed than others. It's every bit right for them to be referred to as Sirs." "But one doesn't have to be old to be knowledgeable. Besides, why can't a girl be knowledgeable?" "You are quick in mind and speech, and are thus qualified to be called Sir. I have answered your eminent question — that also makes me a Sir." Her remarks impressed the fans present, who shared this story to many. In the end, everyone followed the trend and started to call her Sir Yun whether they had or had not met her in person. |

Many traditional Liyue Operas revolve around the theme of the adepti and Rex Lapis himself. A prime example would be "The Divine Damsel of Devastation." People are full of wonderful fantasies about the adepti and would like to see the representation of their joy and anger on stage. Thus, stories portraying them make up the majority of the repertoire of Liyue Opera. When Yun Jin was young, she would find these stories engaging, but having exhausted every adeptal legend in her performing career, her take on theming gradually changed. Why not experiment with other themes? For instance... stories of our own, perhaps? Stories that tell of our earthly joys and sorrows, songs that sing of the hatreds and passions of humanity. Maybe these stories of mere mortals may not make it as classics of Liyue Opera, but there will always be some people who remember them. In love our thoughts linger, in rage our hearts burn, and in obsession, our minds go astray. These emotions, good or bad, lift the veil that covers our feelings and souls. Yun Jin is no adeptus. She can never put herself in the shoes of the adepti, yet she is endowed with the most accurate and sensitive grasp of human emotions. "So, let me sing of human stories. May my brush be the brush of all hearts and my voice the voice of all souls." This is the unspoken wish that Yun Jin has so far only kept to herself. |

Her ancestors used to work as weaponsmiths instead of opera performers. Later, someone in the family who was tired of weapon forging grew an interest in the performing arts. By the time it came to Yun Jin's generation, few of the Yuns still practiced the art of forging. Many forged things have been passed down, though. The lock-shaped copper pendant that Yun Jin carries with her is one such item. In her childhood, she often practiced dancing for a whole day under the scorching heat of the sun. Sometimes, she would even faint from the exhaustion. Her parents' hearts ached for her, but they knew well that she had to go through such things to lay a solid foundation. So instead of stopping her, they gave Yun Jin the lock in the hopes that it would keep fortune and health within her. Since then, the lock has never left Yun Jin's side. Before every performance, it is a routine for Yun Jin to reminisce about those days of bittersweet training by cleaning the lock with great care. It feels as if she was caressing the devoted heart of the little Yun Jin who was learning the opera. |

Unlock Condition | Unlocks at Friendship Lv. 6 |
Shortly after Yun Jin's debut, Yun Jin quickly got the hang of stage performance through dozens of shows and her great intelligence. At the time, her appearance meant a whole night of applause for a performance. However, the more she played, the more she felt at a loss — these were not the operas she wanted to perform. In every opera, the pitch and tempo would invariably go either up or down to indicate drama or doldrum. As time passed by, the visage of the various characters seemed to blend and blur. The music would come on, followed by a neat dance, and then her sweet voice. The girl in "The Divine Damsel of Devastation" seemed no different from the fisherman's daughter in "String of Pearls." While the audience did not object, Yun Jin was not satisfied. "Is skillful singing and dancing all it takes to tell a moving tale?" What broke her bottleneck was an opera named "Snow Treading." It was a monodrama about a strenuous walk in the snow. It happened to be a snowy day when Yun Jin first performed the opera. Having gone astray in the snow, the character felt lost and lamented her helplessness. Somehow, the snow in the story seemed to fall into reality. Yun Jin, who had also found herself adrift, felt as if she had become her character. That was what she had been looking for, the feeling of leaving herself behind and walking in the shoes of the many characters she played. To breathe, to live, and to smile just like them. That was the opera she had wanted to sing, the story she had wanted to tell — one about true emotions, a world built on tens of thousands of individuals who live lives of their own. Yun Jin could no longer recall how she returned backstage after the epiphany. All she knew was that when she finally had time to take off her costume, she found a Vision in her sleeve. |

i dont know if someone already mentioned it, but yunjin was clearly meant to be an anemo support for xiao with elemental mastery scaling, plunging attack buff and battery with tap e.
why was she changed?
there are more conspiracy theories, check tenten on youtube
She was already a Geo character back when she was first leaked. Idk if her kit was changed or if she was always meant to be a NA support. As much as I like the conspiracy theory that you said, the theory may not apply to everyone
Her element was never confirmed, just speculated to be. Then people like you think the speculated “leaks” are real and get all salty and disappointed.
Do note that a lot of “leaks” are just people making safe guesses. And when the guesses are right, they get treated as god even though it was just a guess
Build for pairing her with eula?
very simple. don’t pair them
yunjin excels at buffing fast, low talent multiplier, multihit normal attacks
eula hits VERY hard on each hit, yes, but she is way too clunky to make full use of yunjin’s buff because her buff doesnt care how hard you hit, but only how many times you hit
and to make things worse, eula’s burst is just as important as her NAs, and yunjin provides almost nothing on that aspect (C6 only gives at most 1-2 more NAs and literally nothing else)
Would Ningguang/Mona be a good fit with her? I use both as dps, and both use their NAs a lot.
Noelle too theoretically seems to work amazingly with her 🤔
nothing to say here, just wanna greet the ayato mains who are gonna use yun jin 😉
You can bet i’m gonna… Yun Jin + Kazuha (full EM build) will basically doube (if not more) Ayato’s damage.
Idk about other carries but isn’t the problem with her in a yoi team that she doesn’t do any dmg herself? From my experience she doesn’t buff yoi enough to justify just not running actual sub dps like xiangling in mono pyro or a beidou team
ive been hitting 35k skills and 20k bursts just fine, running her as a sub dps instead of a support makes her sm more worth
Just to remind people who think bennet is always stronger here is this.
Bennet burst is in a area, Yunjin can carry her burst anywhere.
People may have accidentally activated Bennet c6 that brings him down where Yunjin does not suffer from such flaws.
Yunjin is a free character we can get who is not constellation dependent whilst Bennet really wants his c1.
I know its not better to bring Yunjin over Bennet in some comps but comps that do have a focus on NA its enough to consider Yunjin over Bennet.
I wouldn’t call Yunjin a “free character” since you can only get one free Liyue character per year…
Yes but the majority of people who wouldn’t have her from the event are newer players and since all the people crying about character kits are ar50+ they have done the event and have gotten the character.
I’m building her as a main dps, and honestly she is good. 800% on skill I’d good if you build her with def. Not to mention she will still be good support since she scales off of def.
Good luck with that, my Yunjin does 20k – 30k per elemental at lvl 70, talent lvl 5 and zhongli shield, it’s actually good for an elemental, since my build isn’t that good.
So where are the smoothbrains who said yunjin would be trash with double geo hutao now?
Idk
Just don’t use her on my Hu Tao team, cuz I’m using Itto :\
My team -> Hu Tao – Itto – Xingqiu – Zhongli
If I didn’t have Itto I would for sure use Yunjin
the problem is you’d likely be better off using albedo in that sort of comp hu tao cause is mostly CA, but it’s a decent 4star alternative more worth it if you’re doing N2CA rather than N1CA also
Yun Jin buffs Yoimiya better than Bennet buffing Yoimiya, Yun Jin is super broken. Though, do you think she fits in a Eula comp?
Fischl-Eledgy-4pc Thunderfury
Eula-Blackliff-4pc Paleflame
Dionna-Sac-2pc Tenacity 2pc Maiden
Yunjin- Fav lance-2pc Husk 2pc Emblem
I think she will work fine, what do you guys think?
She could fit, but it also depends if you care about maximising her team dmg potential or not. If you don’t care about it too much, Yun Jin is a great fit, enhancing her normals, which is an important part of her kit, allowing your Eula to do a lot more dmg. The team you suggested would work quite well. My half built Yun Jin (lvl12 and lvl16 artifacts) allowed my Eula to do upwards of 20k per auto (from 17-18k).
However, if you do care about making her team do higher dmg, Yun Jin would not work too well. Eula would need a cryo battery, and an electro for superconduct. That only leaves one spot. Yun Jin could fit there, but Beidou would be a better option for more dmg, and Eula is also a great driver for Beidou as well. However, Beidou also have some energy problems, which usually requires her to have an electro battery, usually Fischl or Raiden. In this case, Yun Jin would not be able to replace any of them.
Hope it helped.
Amazing character design wise but her burst doesn’t exist.
wut
i can feel social credit flowing through my vein in a cutscene
The way she talks about other characters is cute. Her story is really nice as well. She looks gorgeous. But what is up with her kit ugh…
Yeah, what’s wrong with a kit, that can potentially give you 2000 ATK for your NA’s, grant you easier Beidou’s counter, has 60 energy cost elemental burst, lots of ER and also easy to build, since she scales off her DEF and deals not as big amount of dmg overall, so you don’t need to give her any crit related artifacts nor weapons. I am also curious, what is up with her kit ugh…
fr worst kit ever. 10/10 won’t recommend
are you dense? 2000 damage for NA’s is literally nothing when beidou can 10k per strike, with reactions
“so you don’t need to give her any crit related artifacts nor weapons”
You literally can not because then her burst would do even less than the tiny amount it already does.
I like yunjin as much as the next guy but your high if you think she is even 50% as good as a xinqiu or beidou.
It’s definitely not as insignificant as you make it seem. Bonus damage comes into play after Atk%, but before anything else. Adding any flat amount before Element%, Crit%, and Reactions come into play is pretty big, let alone an extra 2000 per hit. That 2000 becomes 2920 after just a Goblet. 3480 after most DPS characters’ Ascension Stat, and 5220 with no extra Crit Damage. That’s an extra 156k for the duration of the Burst without even taking Reactions into play.
To put this in perspective, a level 90 crowned Bennett with level 90 Aquila Favonia whom folks laud as an incredible buffing support offers:
[191 (Bennett base attack at level 90) + 674 (Level 90 Aquila Favonia)] * 1.19 (ATK bonus ratio for level 13 burst) = 1029.4 attack
Yun Jin’s contribution is nearly double that for NA’s when at 3k defense.
You are calculating their values in a vacuum. Bennett has 1.39 atk bonus because of his C1, and he is usually used with Noblesse so there is an additional 20% atk boost. He can be decently run as either a sub-dps or a healer and is a good battery(Especially better with Yoimiya Comps, one of the 2 NA-dedicated DPSes). Bennett’s buff is also affected by multipliers which can mean 2 things, either his buff gets lowered or increased but from what we can see in the multipliers of the 2 NA DPS we have, his buff probably will stay the same for Yoimiya(I am not sure, couldn’t be bothered to find Yoimiya’s NA average) while increase around 10% with Ayato. His buff should be around 1200, maybe 1350 to 1400 with the 20% atk buff included. This would result in 54% to 60% Pure Dmg bonus give or take
Yun Jin has a defense of 734, assuming she is ran with husk instead of noblesse for her buff and triple def(plus around 30% Def from substats), she would have around 2376.692 def from 223% defense. With full cons and a canopy team, she should give around 1900 atk buff which should result around 86.66% Pure Dmg bonus give or take for either of the 2 NA DPS we have. This means she is definitely much better than Bennett in an NA buffing, not including the 15% NA bonus she gives which should give around 7.5 to 3.25 Pure Dmg bonus ranging from the standard 100% Na Dmg bonus to 200% NA dmg bonus and another 12% pure dmg bonus from the NA atk speed bonus.
Yunjin support build’s best weapon is almost definitely Favonius because of her low-ass energy generation and the general discouragement of double geo from her kit and NA team comps. But she is also easier to build because you only need triple def, which is generally easier to get than a 674-Sword but there are potential changes like a 720-Sword or more suitable characters and weapons for Yunjin. Like Geo NA and a Def/ER Polearm.
Yunjin definitely has a higher buff to NA damage than Bennett, but Bennett can also buff other departments that might have the potential to rival her value in NA teams
Every time Yunjin joins my party and starts singing in Chinese opera I cringe. But when I heard her singing during the Archon quest then it was fine, but it just felt off when I’m using a different translation and it automatically changes her to Chinese. Like make up your mind. If it is in English then use English voiceline. Don’t force it the voiceline in when it doesn’t fit.
The whole cutscene is in Chinese because there she is voiced only by her second VA, the CN opera singer, and not her spoken VA. Her spoken lines during the cutscene transition directly into opera singing, so only the Chinese singer can perform it.
Why it use Chinese on the opera voiceline ? Because it is simply a “chinese opera voiceline” and if they use english translated voice to sing that line, it will be weirder. Why she need to do that voiceline ? Because it is her personality as Opera Singer, so it makes sense on her idle animation/voiceline that she will sing a bit. So, I dont think it “force the voiceline when it doesn’t fit. But, i wont blame you for not liking it since Chinese Opera isnt for everyone. Maybe try to send your suggestion to them on forum to have option to turn off the opera voiceline or something.
Seriously, billingual is beyond the comprehension of some people and there I hope genshin will allow people to set japanese for inazuma character, chinese for liyue and some european language for moonstad.
Like, really, that’s what I exactly want to happen. Fits more and there’s nothing wrong on doing that
German, I want to hear an angry german accent.
Amazing support. Better than Bennett’s buff for NA attackers. Mihoyo did her well.
Exactly. Jee, she’s so easy to build, just throw everything with DEF and she would give you 2k ATK for your NA’s. Pretty much new Albedo, so you can throw your garbage defense arts on her and she would do amazingly.
I would also suggest try to get crit rate in artifacts if you use her with Favonius lance. 6% in 5 artifacts -> 35 crit rate. If you have 10 everywhere it is 55, really helps with ER
i think she simp for kazuha. i mean the way what she said about him
LMAO I can’t XD. Pls do yourself a favor and interact with real living humans or better yet do a research on the term “simp”.
Didn’t you know that liking someone a lot is being a simp? No? Well, me neither.
Yes I like my mum that make me a simp oh no
Go back to Yae Miko Keisuke
What the hell do you want lmao.
That’s exactly what I was scared of. The fucker keisuke copy keeps being toxic and that is ruining my reputation. Now when someone sees me they think I’m the toxic one.
Her opera performance at the end of the quest is pretty damn amazing. People were seriously exaggerating when they criticized her singing voice.
I know right? I am quite inexperienced when it comes to Chinese Opera but even I can see what a spectacular voice her CN Opera VA has. It goes so well with the music and matches the flow/intensity of the rhythm throughout the cinematic wonderfully! I know certain types of music aren’t for everyone (for me its rap) but to anyone reading this, give it the good o’l college try!
Yes it was awesome! Like I get why people might’ve been caught off guard by her initial reveal, but some of you were ridiculously whiny and disrespectful about it. Hope the fantastic performance they put out changed some minds.
yet another potentially awesome characther quite ruined.. maybe it was too good if her buff was for normal-charged-plunge, so they said “no fk it, just normal”
Wouldn’t be as good if it were used for charge and plunge attacks because their multiplier is too high.
she’s great though? just cause she doesn’t fit your needs doesn’t mean she’s ruined. I do agree we need a plunge buffer for Xiao.
i use her and shenhe to buff ayaka’s NA
i used to spam CA with her, but now she deal more damage with NA so i have spare stamina for dodging
my 4th char is c6 fishcl with oz already on the field (will get replaced by yae later i guess)
if only she also buff CA, keqing could get a redemption arc
Cool that now she deals more dmg with NA but if u just added Benny instead Yunjin u would do more dmg than normal in NA not as much compared to Yunjin but ur CA would do amazing dmg too, and ur elemental and burst, don’t get me wrong I love Yunjin but don’t think is worth it use her with Ayaka, would be better just use Ayaka – Shenhe – Diona – Bennett and use Yunjin with Razor, Noelle or like I do with yoimiya.
But ofc you do whatever u want, listen to me if u want or don’t is like u want, I also don’t make some things as is best, my kazuha c0 is using crit dmg and anemo dmg instead full EM build which is way better for c0.
Good luck.
Bye.
She’s exciting unit, got her on 2nd pull today by sitting on the rock seat overlooking Liyue ocean with Zhongli and aligning his head with the Guyana Domain island ( if you’re looking for a new summoning ritual). Skipping summoning on Shenhe cause I need Kazuha.
Had enough wits and books to level her to 90 and get level 8 burst talent.
Favonius Lance is best weapon if you want to get her burst sooner. If you want her burst easily on demand you should also run electro traveller with Favonius Sword, Traveller E, swap to Yunjin, E, collect own particles, burst, swap to your flavour of NA DPS character.
Works very well with Ayaka, but if you’re a whale your best Ayaka NA team is probably Ayaka (R5 Mistsplitter), Shenhe C6 (R5 Calamity Queller), Yunjin, Kazuha (R5 Freedomsworn).
Meme team I want to build is Qiqi, Rosaria, Electro Traveller, Yunjin. Phys Rosaria is pretty good with Yunjin, 60% phys shred, and 32% attack speed with Skyward Spine and C6 Yunjin, 47% if I swap out Qiqi for Jean and use her C2 passive. I slept on Rosaria and only had enough resources to get her to level 70 ascended and attack talent level 2 🙁
Yunjin good with Raiden, but only use Yunjin’s burst when Raiden’s is on cooldown so then you can just have Raiden on the field 90% of the time.
Haven’t gone out of my way to use her with Yoimiya since it seems too cookie cutter, would rather use her with Sara.
Can’t wait til I finally get Kazuha in 2.5 but if Ayato has NA mechanics with his kendo skills… I am conflicted.
Overall Yunjin is very fun as long as you set up your party so you always have her burst on cooldown.
Nyanpasū
Abort mining operations!! She deals no damage to he crystals! sadge :/
actually she has a stronger advantage on benney (to me he’s non replaceable tho) i didn”t consider before: her bonus etc is based on her defense, not base defense. So she doesn’t need 5star weapons (and there aren’t even available with defense substats) to take the most advantage.
benney is always better because he heals also, but what she does, she does it fine
