Blazing Blessing
Thoma vaults forward with his polearm and delivers a flame-filled flying kick that deals AoE Pyro DMG, while also summoning a defensive Blazing Barrier. At the moment of casting, Thoma's Elemental Skill applies Pyro to himself.
The DMG Absorption of the Blazing Barrier scales off Thoma's Max HP.
The Blazing Barrier has the following traits:
• Absorbs Pyro DMG 250% more effectively.
• When a new Blazing Barrier is obtained, the remaining DMG Absorption of an existing Blazing Barrier will stack and its duration will be refreshed.
The maximum DMG Absorption of the Blazing Barrier will not exceed a certain percentage of Thoma's Max HP.
As a guest from afar, only the most burning passion would allow one to master the pure and precise spear arts of Inazuma. Thoma's mastery, indeed, is not limited to being the "swiftest-studying student" or "a master of the spear," but he has imbued his will to protect others and fend off foes into his art as well.

Crimson Ooyoroi
Thoma spins his polearm, slicing at his foes with roaring flames that deal AoE Pyro DMG and weave themselves into a Scorching Ooyoroi.
Scorching Ooyoroi
While Scorching Ooyoroi is in effect, the active character's Normal Attacks will trigger Fiery Collapse, dealing AoE Pyro DMG and summoning a Blazing Barrier.
Fiery Collapse can be triggered once every 1s.
Except for the amount of DMG they can absorb, the Blazing Barriers created in this way are identical to those created by Thoma's Elemental Skill, Blazing Blessing:
• Absorbs Pyro DMG 250% more effectively.
• When a new Blazing Barrier is obtained, the remaining DMG Absorption of an existing Blazing Barrier will stack and its duration will be refreshed.
The maximum DMG Absorption of the Blazing Barrier will not exceed a certain percentage of Thoma's Max HP.
If Thoma falls, the effects of Scorching Ooyoroi will be cleared.
"I will not forget my initial promise. Let this burning flame protect those I cherish, and may it never be extinguished."

About the Raiden Shogun: Comparison
In my homeland of Mondstadt, almost everyone has great reverence for the Anemo Archon, Barbatos. But people in Inazuma feel a little differently toward the Shogun. How can I put this... They feel love, respect, gratitude... but also fear.
Audio LanguageEnglishJapaneseChineseKorean

About the Raiden Shogun: The Unknown
Honestly, I don't harbor any resentment toward the Shogun. Yes, she almost took my Vision away, but ultimately that's just because of her unique perspective. Everyone has their own perspective, there's nothing strange about that.

The only thing I don't understand is her goal in doing so. What does she imagine eternity really looks like for Inazuma? And why is sacrificing her people's aspirations so necessary to achieve it? I can neither understand nor agree with her approach.

About Beidou
The captain of The Crux — a formidable woman indeed. She once promised to take me out onto the open ocean to get a look at the thunderstorm that seals off Inazuma from the outside world. It's a shame that to this day, I've never had the chance to take her up on the offer...

About Kamisato Ayato
As head of the Kamisato Clan, he's in a tough position. With all the political upheaval, he has to contend with public disquiet on one hand and a bunch of self-serving, degenerate public officials on the other. It's best not to dwell on it. All I can do is make sure to look out for him when he's at home.

About Kamisato Ayaka
Milady is in all respects a well-rounded person: erudite, compassionate, well-mannered, and elegant... The one thing she could do better is to speak her mind more. In fact, watch out for this the next time you're talking to her — sometimes, she looks like she's about to say something, but then she holds back. If that happens, keep asking her opinion, see if you can encourage her to open up a little.

More About Thoma: III
I get homesick once in a while, too, so I completely relate to all the international merchants on Ritou. I try to look out for them as much as I can. The difference between us is that they see themselves as just passing by, and have no intention of trying to integrate here. And because that's how they think, it becomes their reality. The majority of Inazumans will never see them as anything more than outsiders.

More About Thoma: IV
For some of the more conservatively minded people in Inazuma, the idea of an outlander working as a retainer for one of the Commissions is unthinkable. So there was a time when I was not that welcome here. I'm pretty sure I'd have been deported a long time ago without a couple of Kamisatos fighting my corner. I couldn't let the clan down after they'd been so kind to me, so I put in a lot of honest work, and eventually, everyone was finally able to accept me.

More About Thoma: V
I'm not sure if I should get into this, but... Ah, hopefully you won't mind. I went through a period where I really just wanted to go home — Mondstadt is my homeland, after all. But I was torn... It wouldn't be easy to leave Inazuma behind, either. I mean, just look how good the people here have been to me. The Kamisato Clan always has a room for me, and there are people I've met here that are like family. So, I went back and forth over it, and ultimately decided I'd stay in Inazuma. When I'm missing Mondstadt... I can just chat with you. You don't mind my rambling, do you?

Thoma's Troubles
I'm in a real pickle here. The chief is hosting a banquet for his friends tonight, and he says he wants me to splurge a little by cooking some Butter Crab. The only problem is that for the last two days, I haven't been able to buy crab anywhere! So, what, am I gonna have to dive into the ocean and grab them myself?

As far as food is concerned, I'm fine with anything. If we're counting beverages, though... I'm not very good with alcohol. Don't laugh, and before you say it — yes, I've wondered what this says about my identity as a Mondstadter. But, y'know... too much alcohol is bad for you, anyway. So not drinking is a good thing.

Character Details
Thoma's official title in the Kamisato Clan is that of a "housekeeper," and as such, he is responsible for matters such as cleaning and cooking.

Whenever he appears at the Yashiro Commission, Thoma is almost always busy with such work. He is able to get everything done well, and even Furuta, the butler of the Kamisato Clan, is full of praise for his housekeeping skills.

However, most of the time, Thoma does not stay in the Yashiro Commission, but goes elsewhere to deal with some special matters discreetly.

For example: solving the problems encountered by the Yashiro Commission, asking for information for the head of the Kamisato Clan, fulfilling Ayaka's wishes, etc.

In those unknown corners, Thoma has always used his own way to develop the influence of the Yashiro Commission.
Character Story 1
Unlock ConditionUnlocks at Friendship Lv. 2
Thoma seems to have been born with a good temper.

Regardless of whether he's dealing with a dignitary or a street vendor, Thoma can easily find an opening to join the conversation and have a good time with them.

Thoma, who is good at socializing, has a wide range of contacts in Inazuma. When he first arrived in Inazuma, he relied on his insight and communication skills to make friends with people in various industries. Later, many people would take the initiative to get to know Thoma.

The more people you know, the more resources you can get. Thoma would learn a lot of first-hand information from them, or quietly strike "deals" that are beneficial to the Yashiro Commission.

However, although Thoma has a vast network of contacts, he has never used it for personal gain, nor has he ever forced others to do things in the name of the Yashiro Commission.

Sociability, precise judgment, and just the right amount of tact. Perhaps this is the reason why Thoma can thrive as a "fixer" in Inazuma.
Character Story 2
Unlock ConditionUnlocks at Friendship Lv. 3
Surprisingly, the handsome and cheerful Thoma has no resistance when it comes to cute animals.

When Thoma's out, he always carries some small snacks for animals, and feeds stray cats and dogs when he sees them.

It never fails to make him smile seeing animals scarf food down.

To Thoma, these animals, like himself, are part of what makes up the world.

Even if they don't seem to be eye-catching, they are still trying to live.

As long as you live, good things will always happen... This is what Thoma has always believed in.

Even if these animals had not encountered good things before, he hoped that at least his presence would be a good thing worth celebrating for.
Character Story 3
Unlock ConditionUnlocks at Friendship Lv. 4
As the housekeeper of the Kamisato Clan, Thoma is an "all-rounder" when it comes to housekeeping.

Whether it's cleaning, cooking, sewing, gardening, caregiving, or socializing, he can handle it all with ease.

For Thoma, housekeeping is not only a job and duty, but also his hobby.

He would clean the house like new, making sure that there was not a single grain of dust left on the railings. He would be in a very happy mood when faced with a clean and tidy Yashiro Commission.

Perhaps it's the sense of accomplishment that comes with cleaning. Whenever he has the chance, Thoma will pick up a broom or duster and sweep away any unsightly stains.

In addition, he also takes special care of the daily lives of his colleagues around him.

There was a winter when Inazuma's temperature suddenly dipped, and a guard of the Yashiro Commission accidentally caught a cold while out on patrol. A few days later, he unexpectedly received a sweater hand-knitted by Thoma.

The sweater that was just the right size made the guard think back to the clothes he received from his mother every winter. Now that his mother was old, she hadn't sent him clothes for many years.

With this in mind, the guard took a long leave of absence to visit his family. The day he came back, he brought Thoma a special souvenir from his hometown, and they became good friends.
Character Story 4
Unlock ConditionUnlocks at Friendship Lv. 5
Thoma's father is an Inazuman and his mother is a Mondstadter.

Thoma grew up in Mondstadt and has been accustomed to its carefree and happy atmosphere since he was young. Influenced by this, he can easily mingle with anyone.

However, he has also been taught by his father since he was a child and places great importance on the word "loyalty".

After Thoma's father returned to Inazuma, he was worried that his old man would not be able to drink Mondstadt's wine there, so he sailed to Inazuma alone in a boat carrying Dandelion Wine.

On the way, a huge wave overturned the boat and Thoma fell into the water. Fortunately, he just drifted unconscious down the water until he drifted to a beach on Inazuma.

At that time, Thoma had nothing and no family with him, but still started his life in Inazuma with optimism.

However, despite his best efforts, he was unable to find his father, who was supposed to be in Inazuma.

But at his most difficult moment, Thoma met someone in Inazuma who was worthy of his "loyalty" to the end.
Character Story 5
Unlock ConditionUnlocks at Friendship Lv. 6
Due to him hailing from Mondstadt, Thoma is often regarded as an "outsider" by the local residents of Inazuma.

Despite the strange looks and gossip directed towards him, Thoma never showed any dissatisfaction, and always smiled at all doubts.

Thoma is recognized as the most amiable person in the Yashiro Commission, but to outsiders, it is another story.

"Don't offend Thoma! Otherwise, things will be difficult to handle."

No one is sure when it started, but this saying has gone around that many people are convinced of this when they hear it.

As for those who have had unpleasant run-ins with Thoma, the mention of him still brings lingering fear:

"Don't be fooled by that guy! He's always smiling kindly, but all I did was cheat the Yashiro Commission of a small sum of money, and he..."

That's right, if anyone dares to harm the interests of the Yashiro Commission or disrespect the Kamisato siblings, Thoma will make them pay.

He sees this as his duty and does his best, but does not like to boast about his achievements. Even if he is criticized for this, he will not defend himself too much.

"Gee, who cares about such trivialities? And it doesn't matter what kind of person I am, as long as those who should know know it."
Old Duster
Unlock ConditionUnlocks at Friendship Lv. 4
Thoma's favorite duster has been with him in many "conquests".

As it has been used for too long, no matter how Thoma cleans and takes care of it now, it still looks old and gray. Despite this, Thoma is still reluctant to discard it.

This duster was given to Thoma when he was first assigned cleaning duties at Yashiro Commission. As soon as he sees it, he recalls those hard but happy times.

At that time, Thoma had yet to comprehend various cleaning techniques. Due to his lack of experience, he was often busy doing all kinds of cleaning and tidying work until late at night.

Accompanying him were the moonlight above his head, the chirping of insects in the summer night, and the sound of a duster tapping on the beams.

There are many different kinds of cleaning. From a simple cleaning to an all-out deep cleaning, Thoma has experienced it all.

At first, he found the work boring, but after he got used to it, he found that he could think more quietly when cleaning.

So to this day, Thoma often uses this duster to perform his work.

While brushing away the dust in front of him, he also brushed away the fog in his head in a quiet and steady state of mind.
Vision
Unlock ConditionUnlocks at Friendship Lv. 6
In his early years living in Mondstadt, Thoma did not have particularly strong aspirations.

Each day, he is awakened by the early morning sun and the fresh fragrance of flowers. After breakfast, he can choose to take a relaxing stroll through the city or explore the wilderness freely.

At that time, Thoma thought that people should have the happiness of living a leisurely life. Perhaps it would have been better to live a peaceful life.

This calm mood disappeared the moment when he was swept into a strange country by the waves, across the ocean in a small boat.

Here, he had to receive a favor to survive, and thus the thought of "repayment" arose.

Ten years ago, when the Yashiro Commission's Kamisato Clan was losing its power.

Kamisato Ayato, who was embroiled in the dispute over the succession rights of the clan due to the death of both parents, told Thoma:

"Now that the situation in Inazuma is unclear, the trouble the Kamisato Clan faces will only increase. You are someone who can see what's at stake, so if you don't want to get involved, leave early."

Could Thoma, who had received so many favors from the Kamisato Clan, just leave like that? Choosing to leave would mean that he would have to return to his ordinary, stable life with regrets and guilt.

The storm was imminent, and Thoma was like a leaf drifting in the sea.

But after much deliberation, Thoma's answer was:

"If I leave at this time, I will lose my loyalty and righteousness. Father has always taught me to be a loyal and righteous man... I would like to do my best to do my part for the young master and the young lady. The path you will take in the future will certainly need me as a helper."

The will to burn for loyalty and righteousness forged a strong desire that drew the attention of the gods.

As if to respond to Thoma's choice - on this night of divergent destinies, a Vision, bright red like a blaze appeared beside him.

Idk why he mess up some of my Hu Tao vaporize charge tk sometimes while most people I saw say he doesn’t for them.

I use N1CJ cancel for Hu Tao , my Xingqiu is C6.

Maybe I have to use N2C like some peeps out there said or maybe I just have to make my Sucrose ult swirl Hydro?

man i though he was useless, and i mean… he is.
UNLESS. You’re running Hu Tao with Kazuha. AND you have a c6 xingqiu (lots of requirements, sadly)
Hu Tao + Kazuha + Xingqiu +Thoma has better dps potential than Hu Tao + Kazuha + Xingqiu + Zhongli, since Kazuha can actually swirl pyro for Hu Tao thanks to Thoma, Thoma is a decent shielder for Tao, pyro resonance, and if you run 4pc noblesse on him thats another buff right there. his burst isnt even that important except for the shield so emblem is out of the question imho.
He does not mess up vapes for Hu Tao. Did the test several times and the hydro mark is still there.

You can replace kazuha with sucrose, and it’s even more easy because you just need to use normal attack with sucrose for double swirl hydro + pyro

To make matters even better, his passive of granting 20% chance of an additional fish in Inazuma doesn’t even count towards the total of the “Fish x amount of fish” achievement. He’s got the most useless passive ever. Even Itto’s log passive will be more useful than this.

With thoma, many guide and theorycrafters suggest xingqiu E + Q – thoma E + Q – sucrose normal attack once + E for double swirl – hu tao rotation combo. But, you need at least 180% ER for thoma since you have C4 to spam your burst per rotation even against single target scenario like bosses. The rest is just stack a ton of HP on him like zhongli. Double pyro + VV char have higher DPS potential than double geo especially against multi target since you have grouper

Becoming a good pyro support is a big shoe to fill because of Bennett, and people already know how broken he is. Even Thoma’s C6 dmg increase isn’t comparable to Bennett’s flat attack increase at C0. The only benefit that Thoma offers over Bennett is resistance to interruption and damage prevention. There are only some specific team that wants his presence in it while you can put Bennett on many different teams and still taste the benefits he provides. If you’re still a bit new to the game and still building a working abyss team, investing in Thoma is not a priority. There are many other 4*s that can have a bigger impact on your team.

please help me i don’t understand what ‘max dmg absorption’ of his shield means 🙁 what is the difference between thoma’s shield with this point and for example diona’s shield which doesn’t have max dmg absorption

      • Toan on 7 November 2021 at 6:15 pm
      • Reply

When Thoma uses his burst, the damage it does also adds a small amount onto his shield. “Max dmg absorption” is the highest health his shield can hit with the addition of shield health procs from his burst.

Using lvl 10 skills as an example:
Using his E skill gets you a shield with: 12.96% HP + 1525
Every activation of his burst procs will add: 2.06% HP + 242
So, for example, one activation of his burst after his E skill gives you a total shield health of 15.02% HP + 1767
The “Max Dmg Absorption” determines how much his total shield can reach, at which point further boosting shield health with burst procs or reuse of his E will not increase the health of it (but will restore duration). So adding those burst procs over time will eventually let his shield hit the “Max Dmg Absorption” at 35.28% HP + 4153. Specifically, at talent lvl 10 and with no damage taken it would take 11 procs of his burst to reach the max.

This differs from other characters who only say “dmg absorption” because the other characters’ shields don’t stack up, meaning they use them and get the shield at max health with no way to later increase it.

I thought he would be a great addition to my Tartaglia hypercarry team as I havent found a reliable off-field pyro source other than Xinyan or Xiangling but his skill has a very poor energy production and uptime, and the shield has a overall poor scaling. His burst is overall not a reliable pyro source as to get the most damage out of vaporize pyro needs to be applied first and then hydro as second element (the normal vaporize which has a 2x damage bonus) but with tohma you end up getting a reverse vaporize (which has just a 1,5x damage bonus)
Side note: it is stated that his shield applies pyro to tohma, but this pyro self-application is so weak it cant even remove hydro reliably. Meanwhile Xinyan’s shield applie pyro to any character that obtains it, so i migh just build her in the end.

overall not the realiable fixer we expected, huh?

Thoma has bad kit even with c6 for multiple reasons
1- with Lv12 talent and full HP build + 2-ToM and black tassel = 7k shield and with max stacking = 17.5k shield if you stack 2.5 times from either skill and/or burst ?!
BTW Zhongli with Lv9 talent and full HP build + 2-ToM and black tassel = 21k shield without 4-ToM effect, geo resonance and passive and no need for ER% and has no shield downtime.

2- his shield might stay near 100% uptime if enough ER% and no stacking by using burst first then wait till it finishes then use skill till it finishes and so on.

3- his 7k shield can’t stay 100% uptime as you need to sacrifice some HP% for ER% which leads to weaker shield.

4- his burst has icd (1 hit every 2 hits) and way weaker than a single xingqiu’s rainsword so he fails as subdps role.

5- you need C4 to lower his burst cost from 80 to 65 for meaningless weak shield uptime or weak burst damage.

6- C6 can only be beneficial to Hu Tao if used skill/burst before switching to Hu Tao due to its short 6 seconds duration, so the rotation would be thoma skill/burst then VV anemo for shred then xinqiu skill+burst then thoma burst/skill then hu tao, which leads to either energy loss due starting thoma with skill funneling to already charged burst OR leads to dps loss due to starting thoma with burst away from Hu Tao’s attacks.

One team i can think for now is:
Hu tao, xingqui, sucrose and thoma

He could help utilising sucrose since hu tao cant apply pyro without using her skills. Moreover, he would also provide a shield for keeping whole team alive.

You could give thrilling tales to sucrose to make xingqui e hit like 40k twice

    Thoma e/q < sucrose e/q < xinqui q/e < hu tao. Just repeat this

Edit: this may be the best team for hu tao (f2p) depending on ICD of thoma and
Hu tao, xingqui, kazuha and zhongli might be the ssuperior version of this team

Depends on his icd’s, if his ult operates on the standard 3 hit per elemental application, the trash talkers are going to (sadly) be right about him. In terms of single digit significant figures and maxed out talents, Xiangling does 8 hits per 10 seconds with a 200% multiplier per hit. Thoma does 1 hit per second with a 100% multiplier per hit (so the writing is already on the wall, but it’s not unsalvageable; especially if they remove all his icd’s and give him a gauge value of 2b or 4c (huffs hopium)) But if thoma can’t even vape each of his hits, I’m tempted to simply skip this banner because of how bad he would be.

Having no ICD is a good thing. He is meant to be a shield bot, not a subdps. Not stealing your reactions, especially if he has a 2b or 4 application would be a bad thing in most team comps.
As for Pyro application, Xiangling exists, so we aren’t in a dire need of another off field pyro enaber. Imo its good that we have another good shielder/support.

That’s exactly what a Hu Tao main would say… “He’s made for Hu Tao! He’s not supposed to do elemental reactions! Get over it!” and they completely ignore the fact that he’s gonna still one vape each 3 charged attacks. Y’all have to UNDERSTAND that his ult is triggered AS YOU HIT. He’s very clearly meant to constantly apply pyro (even faster than Xiangling, who’s just gonna steal all your reactions if you’re too slow or trigger them herself if you’re too fast. If he served only as a shield bot he wouldn’t have had that function.

yeah no shit. Everyone who cares enough know this. And even with this it’s still not going to interfere with your vapes.

You have to UNDERSTAND(man using capslock is pretty cringe) that XQ’s ult is triggered AS YOU HIT AND AS YOU HUG TO ENEMIES. like you don’t even have to use XQ’s Ult to apply enough hydro for Hu Tao to vape because his E alone lets you do that.

          tl;dr
XQ still lets hu tao vape consistently even when thoma is proccing his ult. calm down my dude

Damn, chill. Either way, I am not wrong so go test it out yourself or watch gameplays. Thoma WILL steal reactions now and then, making her lose damage. He is not the perfect niche character for Hu Tao, as all of you want to paint him as and he shouldn’t be relying on Xingqiu to save his utterly meaningless pyro application. Like I said, his ult ticks are triggered after using normal attacks, which right away gives the impression that he is going to apply pyro (not do mediocre damage and be himself who steals and triggers reactions), but instead Mihoyo gave him a long ICD just for the slightest bit of synergy that is going to be replaced the moment players get Zhongli.

i just want to clear it up because you don’t need to hit to trigger the fiery collapse. just do normal atk and it will trigger fiery collapse (same like xingqiu rain swords). its a good thing for hu tao team because you only need to do n1 on sucrose to trigger vv set and em buff.

Don’t get me wrong, I’d love them to remove his ICD (both for elemental application & Fiery Collapse application) but it doesn’t look like that would happen cause he’d just be a pyro Xingqiu at that point.

Also, I’m not against another buff bot either. A bargain bin Zhongli is always welcome on my watch, but as a buff bot; Zhongli comes with resistance shred, Diona comes with stamina cost reduction; heck, even geo traveler shares some much needed crit rate with the rest of the party. For a buff bot, Thoma has literally nothing going on besides his shield, his c6, and some pyro application that may or may not interfere with the comps he may or may not want to be a part of. I’m being purposefully vague here because without a clear-cut example of his ICD’s and gauge unit values; I really don’t want to make any assumptions about what comps he might fit into. But if you want my opinion on why I’m huffing hopium for some last minute buffs, it’s cause the way things are shaping up; shield bot Thoma is kind of looking like he’s going to mess with the reactions of people without c6 Xingqu (needs testing) and subdps Thoma is already stat checked out the door by Xiangling. At this point, I’m really not sure where to put him.

Hello, does anyone know how well he might do with yoimiya? Seems people are saying he dosent mess up hu Tao reactions so was wondering if she would be the same.

he is really great for yoimiya shield support (not for thoma dmg). also since thoma is pyro you get pyro resonance. also for thoma shield to be good you are required to do normal atk which is a really good synergy with yoimiya. both overload and vape team for yoimiya won’t have issue with thoma. but thoma c6 is kinda copium for yoimiya if you use both r5 rust and 4pc shimenawa since diminishing returns exist.

Cool, that was mostly all i was wanting him for was for shielding. Currently not aiming for any cons on him so will have to see how lucky my rolls get. Please come home early.
