Attack Talents
Normal Attack: Cutting Torrent
Normal Attack
Perform up to 6 consecutive shots with a bow.
Charged Attack
Perform a more precise Aimed Shot with increased DMG.
While aiming, the power of Hydro will accumulate on the arrowhead. A arrow fully charged with the torrent will deal Hydro DMG and apply the Riptide status.
Riptide
Opponents affected by Riptide will suffer from AoE Hydro DMG effects when attacked by Tartaglia in various ways. DMG dealt in this way is considered Normal Attack DMG.
• Riptide Flash: A fully-charged Aimed Shot that hits an opponent affected by Riptide deals consecutive bouts of AoE DMG. Can occur once every 0.7s.
• Riptide Burst: Defeating an opponent affected by Riptide creates a Hydro burst that inflicts the Riptide status on nearby opponents hit.
Plunging Attack
Fires off a shower of arrows in mid-air before falling and striking the ground, dealing AoE DMG upon impact.
When Tartaglia is in Foul Legacy: Raging Tide's Melee Stance, he cannot perform a plunging attack.

Foul Legacy: Raging Tide
Unleashes a set of weaponry made of pure water, dealing Hydro DMG to surrounding opponents and entering Melee Stance.
In this Stance, Tartaglia's Normal and Charged Attacks are converted to Hydro DMG that cannot be overridden by any other elemental infusion and change as follows:
Normal Attack
Perform up to 6 consecutive Hydro strikes.
Charged Attack
Consumes a certain amount of Stamina to unleash a cross slash, dealing Hydro DMG.
Riptide Slash
Hitting an opponent affected by Riptide with a melee attack unleashes a Riptide Slash that deals AoE Hydro DMG. DMG dealt in this way is considered Elemental Skill DMG, and can only occur once every 1.5s.
After 30s, or when the ability is unleashed again, this skill will end. Tartaglia will return to his Ranged Stance and this ability will enter CD. The longer Tartaglia stays in his Melee Stance, the longer the CD.
If the return to a ranged stance occurs automatically after 30s, the CD is even longer.
He chose the bow as his weapon precisely to overcome his weakness with it. But a serious fight demands that he gets serious...

Havoc: Obliteration
Performs different attacks based on what stance Tartaglia is in when casting.
Ranged Stance: Flash of Havoc
Swiftly fires a Hydro-imbued magic arrow, dealing AoE Hydro DMG and applying the Riptide status.
Returns a portion of its Energy Cost after use.
Melee Stance: Light of Obliteration
Performs a slash with a large AoE, dealing massive Hydro DMG to all surrounding opponents, which triggers Riptide Blast.
Riptide Blast
When the obliterating waters hit an opponent affected by Riptide, it clears their Riptide status and triggers a Hydro Explosion that deals AoE Hydro DMG.
DMG dealt in this way is considered Elemental Burst DMG.
Rushing waters are rarely seen in his snowy homeland. Perhaps his ability to command water is due to his understanding of just how precious it is.

Character Details
Despite holding one of the most senior positions in the Fatui as one of the Eleven Harbingers, Childe very much looks like the young adult that he still is.

He is a wolf in sheep's clothing, however, for under the cheerful and confident appearance lies a deadly swordsman.

He is the youngest among the Harbingers, but one of the most dangerous among their number.

That said, Childe doesn't seem to fit in well with the others.

As a fighter first and foremost, he is quite at odds with this organization of deceit and treachery.
Character Story 1
Unlock ConditionUnlocks at Friendship Lv. 2
As the youngest Harbinger in the history of the Fatui, Childe is hardly bound by convention, and plays by his own rules accordingly.

Though this lone wolf is not so well-received by his peers and is also at odds with their methods, his cavalier demeanor hides a responsible, watertight meticulousness.

He is a proud man of his word. Even if the promise he makes is absurd, he will never break it.

Be it exterminating all the dragons inside their lairs, venturing into a domain of extreme danger, or single-handedly overthrowing the territory of a nobleman...

He not only keeps his promises, but does so with finesse and surgical precision. As the Harbingers' vanguard, Childe always appears in the vulnerable underbellies of Snezhnaya's enemy states, striking as a conflict is about to erupt.
Character Story 2
Unlock ConditionUnlocks at Friendship Lv. 3
Many myths in Snezhnaya say that Tartaglia has been on the battlefield since he was 14 years old.

Oddly enough, at that young age he already seemed to be a skilled slaughterer with mastery of many forms of martial arts.

But more terrifying than his skill in combat was his passion for it.

Perilous battles would only excite him, and terrifying foes would exhilarate him all the more.

Childe's arrogance and conceit are derived from honing himself across countless battles, and from unmatched combat experience.

On the other hand, because they fret about the way his quarrelsome personality tends to invite unwanted trouble, the other Harbingers constantly try to get him sent on missions to places as far from Snezhnaya as possible, so that they can avoid the fallout.

The man is incomprehensibly ever in the eye of the storm, and these unusual experiences have also made him quite the show-off who revels in the praise of others.

Unlike other members of the Harbingers, who prefer to keep a low profile, Tartaglia will often go to watch public performances — occasionally even becoming part of the show himself.
Character Story 3
Unlock ConditionUnlocks at Friendship Lv. 4
Ice fishing has been one of Tartaglia's hobbies since childhood.

In those days, he was known neither by the names Tartaglia nor "Childe," as the Fatui call him, but as Ajax, named by his father after some hero's tale. He and his father would cut holes open upon frozen lakes before sitting beside them and tending to their fishing lines.

This was no easy task, and would sometimes take the entire morning.

But whether it was chiseling away at the thick ice or the long waits in between catches, he was always accompanied by his father's unending tales of adventure.

These were stories of his father's adventures from when he was young, and they became the future that Tartaglia secretly envisioned for himself.

So he would pay close attention, putting himself into the shoes of the protagonist of those tales, immersing himself fully in them even as they waited for a fish to bite.

Even after leaving home, Ajax, later to be known as "Childe" Tartaglia, would keep up that hobby of his.

No longer accompanied by the stories of bygone days, fishing instead became an opportunity to train — to hone his endurance, and reflect on combat techniques.

Such long periods of meditation to refine his skills swiftly relegated the question of a successful catch to irrelevance.
Character Story 4
Unlock ConditionUnlocks at Friendship Lv. 5
Unlike what the rest of the world may think, Tartaglia was not born with his exceptional skills in battle.

But he would never speak to anyone about that critical, fateful encounter of his...

When he was 14, he fled his monotonous life at home with nothing but a shortsword and a bag of bread in hand.

That 14-year-old boy got lost in the snowy forest.

Pursued by bears and wolf packs, he lost his footing and fell into a bottomless crack in the earth's surface.

There, he witnessed the endless possibilities of another ancient world. There, he would meet a mysterious swordswoman...

Or perhaps one should say that this dark realm had sensed the burning ambition in this boy's heart.

This darkness was something that the Harbinger Childe could never again delve into.

In those three months, the swordswoman taught Tartaglia how to pass through the Abyss unhindered, and more importantly, nurtured the ability to stir up endless havoc from within Ajax's trouble-mongering nature.

No one knew what happened within that darkness during those three months, nor would Ajax ever speak of this to anyone.

When his worried mother and sisters finally found him in that forest, only 3 days had passed in this world.

Thus did Ajax's first adventure end, with his now-rusty shortsword in hand.

This would mark the end of his youth and the beginning of his days as a warrior.
Character Story 5
Unlock ConditionUnlocks at Friendship Lv. 6
By the time he returned home, the young man was no longer the same.

He was no longer frightened and hesitant but had become frivolous and confident. He acted as if this world revolved around him, and as if battle existed for his sake.

Conflict often brings about change, and this capricious, incalculable change attracted Ajax like a revolving kaleidoscope.

In the eyes of his father, that third son that he had so worried about had changed for the worse, bringing much uncalled-for havoc to the seaside village of Morepesok.

Or perhaps it would be more accurate to say that Ajax had become a nexus of strife, for no matter where he went, fights and squabbles would follow — and he reveled in it.

Ultimately, after a huge brawl was pacified with some difficulty and with some near-fatal misses, his father had no choice but to hand his beloved son over for conscription into the Fatui.

He hoped that the strict military training of the Fatui could hone his son's temper, but wound up watching fully-armed troops getting the stuffing beaten out of them by a mere child.

This was a great disappointment to his father, but it also caught the attention of Pulcinella, the 5th Harbinger.

Shocked by Ajax's great strength and curious about how he invariably became the eye of a vortex of discord, Pulcinella inducted Ajax into the Fatui under the pretext of meting out punishment, ordering him to start from the bottom and take up the duty of serving the Tsaritsa.

His insatiable desire for conquest would thus be constantly satiated in fighting for the Fatui, and his ever-burgeoning ego would gorge upon the elation of vanquishing mighty foes...

Until at last, Ajax was chosen to be one of the Fatui Harbingers, donning the mantle of "Childe" Tartaglia and becoming one of the most powerful people in Snezhnaya.

But becoming Tartaglia was far from his end goal. To someone who sought to conquer the world, this was but a tiny step in his journey.
Tartaglia's Letters to Home
Unlock ConditionUnlocks at Friendship Lv. 4
"Dearest Sister, are you all keeping well at home? Has the old man's headache gotten any better?

Please send my regards to our parents and our siblings.

I've sent some wind chill medication over from Liyue Harbor. It's very effective, and will probably keep him from nagging for a while. It should reach you after a few days.

Apart from our father's affairs, I naturally haven't forgotten about gifts for you all.

This letter should come with two kites from Liyue, a rattle drum, two porcelain dolls from Inazuma, and a crate full of various snacks.

And please break it to Anthon that the residents of Liyue are just boring old ordinary humans, like us.

They're not made of stone, and they don't even eat stones.

Do not fret for my sake, Tonia, and refrain from making trouble for anyone at home. I will be home soon. When I have seized the seven stars of Liyue and laid them at the feet of Her Majesty the Tsaritsa, I will take the first ship home, just as I promised — and you know how I always keep my promises.

Yours faithfully, Your loyal knight."
Delusion
Unlock ConditionUnlocks at Friendship Lv. 6
Tartaglia's Delusion is his old badge of honor and the proof of his strength.

He still remembers with perfect clarity the day when he received his Delusion and ascended to become a member of the Harbingers.

As he stood before the cold, stern Tsaritsa, The Jester, the very first of the Fatui, personally pinned this insignia onto him.

It was his reward for slaying many terrible beasts, and a memento of countless battles.

But it was not this that brought Tartaglia joy, for honor is the natural reward of the warrior.

Nor did he pay any mind to the odd looks his new "colleagues" gave him, for the opinions and bellyaches of others meant nothing to him.

The sight of the Tsaritsa on her lofty throne alone stirred the young man's heart with respect and admiration, not merely because she opened the way for him to find an abundance of looming battles, but also because of the way she looked upon him.

Her gaze was cold but pure, arrogant yet sharp.

She was not only the sacrosanct Cryo Archon but also a true warrior.

Thus did Childe, having received his Delusion, swear an oath of fealty to the one and only Tsaritsa of Snezhnaya.

Childe is often underestimated by 15 y.o. tik tok girls who are trying to play this game and like to think they know a lot about it.
But Childe does the unthinkable by taking Gouba and Benny for himself, and freeing XQ for a second team with Hutao, Ayaka, or anyone else who relies on elemental reactions with hydro. At the end we get a top team in terms of price-quality ratio for speedrunning abyss.

(On a sidenote, I doubt Ayato will powercreep Childe for the simple reason that they most likely won’t even have the same role. For Ayato, I suppose they’ll go either full hypercarry route or sub-dps like Xingqiu. Childe can’t really be powercrept as an enabler anyway.)

Ahh, Tartaglia the Child himself, the God of Reruns. It’s a shame that he’s been replaced by Itto as mihoyo’s favorite. This is can be seen by directly comparing the aspects of Itto and Childe.

Let’s start with their story quest, Childe has a rather boring one that can be simplified into a glorified escort quest. We learn nothing about Childe other than the fact that he has a family which makes it okay to break the law /s. Childe does nothing to redeem himself throughout the entirety of it and he leaves for some reason?! Textbook Mihoyo writers at work there. Itto’s on the other hand is a cinematic masterpiece and I’ll explain why. Itto is a character that until now, had not appeared in the story. He was briefly hinted at by strangers and the occasional notice board but other than that he may as well be a ghost. His sudden appearance brought many to their knees but for some it had little effect. Many believed him to be a filler character (which he is) and would have skipped him. However, his story quest did something that Childe, for all his screentime, did not. It made me care about the character. In a single quest string, we learn about Itto and his prideful yet honorable method of defending the innocent. He would gladly commit a crime or assault an officer if it meant helping out the people that needed him. He risked all of the honor that his bloodline holds to save his last known misguided relative. It is a simple tale of sacrifice, old enough to be called a cliche, but the way it was presented swept me in. Honestly, it is a disservice to mention Childe’s quest after his so I won’t.

Now, playstyle, Itto has the smoothest combo chain out of any melee player in the current player sandbox. This is factual since he’s able to dash forward during his AA string. Factually speaking, if Itto would be infinitely better than this wannabe carry if he wasn’t limited to Geo. If we’re talking about single character output then Itto wins hands down. They both have team singular teams in which they are basically locked (Childe national, Mono Geo) if you want to do the maximum damage. Also Itto has a plunge attack, Childe does not. Thus, anybody can conclude that Itto is the better character via the fluidity of his attacks and access to a plunging attack.

Lastly, fanservice! Itto has the Oni heritage to go by, not only is he canonically hung, he is also the tallest character to this date. Childe might as well be a manlet compared to this himbo! Next, Abs. Itto has them, the only thing Childe has is a small hip window. Otherwise, he’s your typical lanky white dude just waiting to get dominated.

    In Summary, Itto > Childe.

Yes it is in my opinion (as a Childe main), but his c1 and c2 are not that good to be honest.
Childe’s c1 can be avoided if you dont stay in his E skill for too long and use other characters such as Raiden and Zhongli burst when his E is on CD
Childe’s c2 can be avoided if you have a lot of ER characters that run on the Emblem set, such as Raiden who can like a battery for the whole team
Childe’s c3 can overall increase his E skill damage by around 20-ish % so it’s pretty good in domains and spiral abyss

      • Reply

none of childe’s constellation worth the hundreds of dollars worth of primogems.

c1 is just QoL that’s totally unnecessary.
      c2 trash.
      c3 tiny dps increase.
      c4 omega grief.
      c5 tiny tiny dps increase.
      c6 overrated trash.

stick your childe with xiangling. His role is to turn xiangling’s pyronado dps from 26k per hit to 40k per hit.
Considering it hits for 14 times, that’s a whooping 200k bonus dps per enemy just by being there, turning everything wet.
The bulk of his DPS comes from his vaporized ranged burst cast on the start of his 9s rotation, dealing an average of 150k dmg with only 40 energy cost.

      How to do rotation:
      (childe, bennett, kazuha, xiangling)
      1. childe skill to wet the enemy,
      2. insta switch to bennet then insta burst (don’t worry, bennet’s pyro won’t erase childe’s strong hydro),
      3. immediately switch to kazuha to burst (this trigger swirl on BOTH pyro and hydro),
      4. switch to xiangling, cast burst followed by skill,
      5. switch back to childe, burst the enemy with ranged stance (huge vaporized dmg), enter melee stance and pummel until burst CD is ~6s left,
      6. back to kazuha, use skill (swirl hydro again),
      7. go back to bennett, use skill, switch to xiangling to funnel the energy to her,
      8. back to bennett again, burst, use skill,
      9. to kazuha, cast burst,
      10. to xiangling, cast burst followed by skill,
      11. Go back to point 5.

Notice that those steps loop back at the end to point 5 with only the starting rotation being different.
Just remember to switch off him when your burst cooldown is at ~6s left so by the time you switch back to childe, his skill would be ready again for the next 9s rotation.
After testing it by yourself several times on training runs, you’ll be doing that rotation easily just like breathing.
It requires you memorize the rotation into your muscle, but when it’s memorized, you can do it blindfolded.
Trust me, it’s not hard to do at all. In fact, it’s way easier than training to dodge all of enemies attack.
And you’ll rarely even reach point 11 on the instruction as you’ll most likely clear any floor at point 5 or 6 of the instruction. Make sure to do the training runs with no dps artifuck so you can prolong the run for a while. If you use dps artifuck, you risk on getting used to do half of the entire rotation due to how fast you kill enemies. You’ll be surprised at how fast ~70k+ aoe damage per second gonna clear a floor.

PS: that team is called childe international (childe bennett kazuha xiangling) and is the 2nd highest DPS team IN THE ENTIRE GAME regardless of your level of in-game spending. 2nd only to morgana team (ganyu mona venti diona) cause morgana is a brain dead team that went pew pew pew as long as you do mona and venti burst off-cooldown. Morgana can potentially do ~75k+ aoe damage per second, which is tiny bit higher than childe international team but is easier cause no enemy moves. Though childe international is better against bosses.

Doing a second characther rerun and leaving other ones without any rerun is just disgusting, but perfectly consistent to this digusting company. Not only the perfectly showed how greedy they are, with those anni “rewards” (i don’t count those 400×4 gems because it was a clear dmg control), but now they also clearly disrespected all those people who wanted xiao-ganyu-albedo. i’m totally fine with hu tao because she needed another rerun as well, i’m not biased. but another childe is such digusting i can’t stand it
their respect for the community is ludicrous.

Calm down, It’s just a game. On the bright side you can save up more primos and maybe go for the constellations or the weapon if you already have enough, You can slack off of genshin for a while, Maybe pick up a hobby, Learn a new language , Read, Study, Go on a field trip or Go touch some fucking grass because if you are getting angry over a game I suggest you think before you channel your anger on the internet, Ya Socrates.

    1. Ma man aint no chill

His rerun is coincided with the new story. Like all the other 5 star reruns.

If you hate Childe that much, ig the supposed story leaks might offer some calm. You won’t be seeing his banner in a while.

The phrase “it’s just a game” is such a weak mindset. You are ok with what happened, losing, imperfection of a craft. When you stop getting angry after losing, you’ve lost twice. There’s always something to learn, and always room for improvement, never settle.

None are worth it couse they don’t do anything for him, one of the worst constalation on a character. C1 – only useful when you f…ed up badly and stay way too long on his E. If you going for standard 7-9 sec on his E, then C1 is useless. C2 is useless, he don’t have energy problems and you want to use range burst either way. C4 is awful and need ton of practice to not destroy your character but more often than not it will f…ed up your vapes. C6 – yeah, you can be perma on his melee stance. But you have like 3 other people on your team and you need to switch after 7-9 sec. So is completely useless.

“He don’t have energy problems” doubt fr if you don’t have a battery or an hydro character that easiky get hydro particles getting childe burst is rly hard (the 60 energy cost is a scam it feels like 100)

Why childe has such a long CD they have to remove 6 seconds of cd

It’s not a problem. Childe doesn’t have to be on the field in Stance for more than 10-15 seconds for any of his good artifact/weapon bonuses, which gives you plenty of time to pull him out, set up your support rotation, and get him back out with maybe a second or two left to wait until the blades are back out. It mostly just gives you a bigger solo window if you absolutely need it to close out a Domain/Abyss run.
