Stabs an evil-excoriating blade into the ground, creating a field that cleanses the area of all that is foul, dealing continuous Electro DMG to opponents within its AoE based on Shinobu's Max HP.
If Shinobu's HP is less than or equal to 50% when this skill is used, the field will last longer.
This was originally a technique used in weeding and in ritual prayers for the yearly harvest, but Shinobu has not forgotten it, though her life as a shrine maiden may have ended.

Kuki Shinobu's specialty. The soft egg skin almost seems to dance upon a stage made from sauce, with fluffy rice wrapped under its swaying skirt. This would even be a match for the work of Uyuu Restaurant's head chef. Truly, Shinobu's chef license was not earned in vain.

About Kuki Shinobu: Gang's Deputy Leader
My primary responsibilities are to bring in business and maintain a stable team... uh, as well as bailing out the gang from the Police Station, returning snacks and toys to kids, and catching anyone secretly slacking off during a job... I guess you could say all this extra work comes with being part of the Arataki Gang. I suppose that leaders of other groups wouldn't have to put up with that kind of stuff. But then again, no one else could do the job like me.

Interesting Things
There is a saying circulating among the shrines claiming that if you weave Naku Weed into a ring and wrap it around your body, it can dispel disaster and bring good fortune. So, do you believe that? I, however, personally find the plant's paralyzing effect a little more practical.

About the Raiden Shogun
After the Sakoku Decree was lifted, the Raiden Shogun issued many decrees aimed at supporting the development of various industries. Who would've thought after all that, I'd still have her to thank?

About Arataki Itto
The boss has a lot of unpleasant memories from his past, but he still manages to stay positive. I'd say that kind of resilience is pretty rare. He treats us well and his character has a good effect on everyone in the gang. Of course, it's never an excuse for him to run amok with no consideration for others. Just let me know if he ever causes you any trouble and I'll be sure to make him regret ever being rude to you.

About Shikanoin Heizou
He's different from the other Doushin of the Tenryou Commission. I have yet to see him on patrol or apprehend anyone, and he occasionally comes to me to buy intelligence. In exchange, I asked him to put in a good word for me whenever I'm bailing people out of the Police Station. He gladly agreed. I'd say that's a pretty good deal... After all, getting the boys to keep their eyes and ears open on the streets is easy enough.

More About Kuki Shinobu: II
I come from a family of shrine maidens but I'm not cut out for that kind of work at all. When I ran away from home, I immediately thought I should learn as much as possible to support myself. I studied everything from cooking, tailoring, and fighting, to legal consulting, publishing, and editing... It wasn't until I really settled into society that I realized I've learned everything I need.

Hmm? You think I've got good social skills? Well, you could say I've seen a lot of the world by now. I've learned how to read people based on their expressions and body language. Besides, nine times out of ten, it's the gang getting in trouble. I don't mind putting on a face to get us out of a sticky predicament, but I still prefer not to smile.

More About Kuki Shinobu: IV
When I first joined the Arataki Gang, the boss told me to teach the others how to fight. So the first thing I did was beat them up, one by one. I was a little surprised that even in their bruised and swollen state they still respectfully called me Shinobu and asked me to lead them. Hmph, at that moment, I knew they really were a big bunch of idiots... But that's fine, even a group like this won't slow me down, I'll just take care of everything myself.

More About Kuki Shinobu: V
It's my own decision to stay in the Arataki Gang. It can be pretty annoying having to clean up their mess all the time, but in return, they treat me with a sincerity that is irreplaceable... They always save the best things for me and never leave me feeling down. When I announced my decision to stay in the gang, they all cheered for me. I know outsiders don't think very highly of the Arataki Gang, and the members themselves don't really care what others think. But, I still want to strive to change the impression we leave. I might complain about them from time to time as my family, but I'll never let anyone badmouth them.

Kuki Shinobu's Hobbies
Being in the gang means having lots of free time. I often finish reading a whole book or even pass a certificate exam before I even realize it. Kinda nice, wouldn't you agree? When my family asks about me, at least I can tell them I don't waste my time, and when I go job hunting, I have lots of qualifications to rely on. In this ultra-competitive society, a misfit like myself with all these certificates will never go hungry.

Character Details
In the Arataki Gang, where swaggering commotion is something of an aesthetic, the ever-masked and low-key Kuki Shinobu, the gang's second-in-command, stands out all the more against the backdrop of the other, more clamorous members.

No matter what sort of mess the others have gotten themselves into, this deputy is often able to solve their problems in a manner that is both professional and highly efficient.

Making some snacks for children who had theirs snatched away, giving scratched lacquerware a new coat of paint, and serving as an advocate for detained comrades...

Such are her skills that onlookers often wonder if there is anything that she cannot do.

"I wouldn't say that I'm certified for everything. There are some industries that just don't have standardized assessments, so there's no way to sit for any such tests."

Her displeasure finds eloquent expression even behind her mask.

"Also, how can there be lines of work where you can find employment without the right qualifications? It boggles the mind." Equally mind-boggling, perhaps, is the fact that her deep puzzlement is just as contagious.

People often say that a namecard is one's door into society.

Of course, the act of embroidering such cards in gold and silver confounds comprehension, but it is true that giving another party a small card that contains your name, position, and contact details is a very efficient thing to do.

When Kuki Shinobu first entered society, the details of her namecard were a matter of serious concern.

Ex-Grand Narukami Shrine Maiden? She strangled that thought in its mental crib the moment it was born.

Just "Kuki Shinobu"? No, no, that would make her seem like some unemployed bum with neither skill in word or deed.

Perhaps she should go get a certification, then. That was common wisdom, after all.

Certifications serve as excellent proof of one's efforts, and are convincing ways of scoring points upon introduction — very useful things indeed.

After easily getting a couple of such certificates, Shinobu finally reckoned that she could add a little color to her presently-blank namecard.

Unfortunately, this process proved to feature pitfalls of its own: out of curiosity and in an effort to test herself, she had gotten a whole load of certifications in one go, causing the prefix section of her namecard to balloon uncontrollably.

"Junior Chef, Tailor, Actuary, Health Manager, Human Resource Manager..."

Having lots of skills is not a bad thing, but there is such a thing of having too many skills, lest one struggle in the snare of figuring out one's titles, like Shinobu did.

To this day, Shinobu cannot remember how many namecards she has made.

But ever since she joined the Arataki Gang, her very first title has always been "Deputy."

After tasting Kuki Shinobu's very own Roasted Lavender Melon, the Arataki Gang all wept and exclaimed that they never knew that Lavender Melons could be so delicious when roasted.

And the flavor, too, was most different from that which had been produced by any other method they had ever tried. Could it be that high-class culinary exams also taught people how to cook Lavender Melons a certain way?

Faced with such a question, Shinobu put the melon she was grilling down before slowly telling a story.

At that time, she had gone to far-off Liyue to study law, and would visit this place known as Wanmin Restaurant in her free time.

The food there was incredibly diverse and made in unique ways, with ingenious ideas that surprised her, despite the fact that she had already obtained a high-level culinary license at the time.

From slivers of stir-fried meat immersed in sauce to boiled cabbage with the fragrance of chicken soup... Indeed, the world was wide and full of wonders.

And though one might be acquainted with every profession and be certified highly in every one, it is never wise to rest on one's laurels. Indeed, it is only by daring to try and make breakthroughs that one can surpass the limits set down by those who came before.

The Arataki Gang did not understand this in full, but they cheered all the same, for there was no harm in that — and their cheers certainly did the melons' flavor little harm.

Seeing how they greatly enjoyed their meals, Shinobu kept the ending of the story to herself.

Back then, the sous chef of Wanmin Restaurant had heard her say these words, and had urged Chef Mao to bring out the Salt and Pepper Slime...

Such food, she knew, would never appear in any culinary exam anywhere in the world.

Nor would the Arataki Gang want to learn that Shinobu had slathered slime ooze onto Lavender Melons as sauce before grilling them...
Character Story 3
Unlock ConditionUnlocks at Friendship Lv. 4
The Kuki Clan is a family of shrine maidens, a tradition that spans generations. Members of that family regard service to Narukami as a great honor.

This too was the case with her generation. After her sister Miyuki was sent to the Grand Shrine, she was also sent there from a young age as an understudy.

Of course, a great store of rules and regulations came with this time-honored tradition: for example, how many days to fast to show one's sincerity and resolve, or how many ablutions were to be performed to avoid profaning the divine...

No one ever explained where these rules had come from or how they had been decided. She was simply told that they had existed since way back, and thus were to be followed.

When Shinobu first arrived at the shrine, she would sometimes catch a chill from staying on the mountain at night. At this time, her family lived far from the shrine and her sister was out on an errand far afield.

A strong-willed child, she did not ask the other shrine maidens for help, but would instead pluck thorned plants one by one, alone, before twining them around her body.

According to a traditional saying, this deed would earn you the protection of Narukami and remove the illness from you. So she went on twining that loop of thorns, even as she whispered prayers to Narukami for protection deep into the night, shivering all the while.

However, when the night was over, her chill was not cured. All she had earned instead was a tingling red mark around herself.

As the days passed, Shinobu would find again and again that the rules were not as foolproof as the ancients might have made them out to be, nor was the role of a shrine maiden quite as indispensable as they had claimed back home.

Well then, didn't that mean that the very necessity of the Kuki Clan to become shrine maidens was also up for renegotiation?

Some years later, Shinobu had already left the shrine for some time now, and with time to kill, she would flip through a book on herbology.

Within its pages, she found that it clearly, indeed vividly, described how the mountainous thorns had paralytic properties that could render birds and beasts unable to move, and that it was this property that led the ancients to include them into medicine to ameliorate topical aches and pains.

She was, well... speechless.

Shinobu thought to herself that yes, perhaps rules did have rhyme or reason behind them, but to treat the rules as reason in themselves must be treated as an obsolete practice.

On further reflection, she could not help but feel that she was happier living her current life.

To find work through which she might truly have freedom, Kuki Shinobu once declined all manner of respectable job offers, only agreeing to being hired as part-time outsourced staff.

One of these commissions came from an old lacquerware professional who had accidentally thrown his hip out of whack. The job itself was no challenge to Shinobu, bearer of an advanced certification in this field, but the address of the client was... well, a little special.

When she brought the newly-maintained figurine to the Police Station, she ran into a petty thief who was making their escape from that site who, fleeing at all speed as they were, rammed right into her, sending the doll sailing into the air.

Seeing that several days' work was about to go down the gutter, Shinobu struck out like lightning, seizing the figurine with one hand before whirling about and tripping the suspect.

All at once the surrounding people surged forward, subduing the crook. Afterward, Kujou Sara — seemingly the person who had placed this order — would come and thank her personally.

As for the goods, they were perfectly unharmed, much to Sara's surprise — to think that someone in the lacquerware business could have such martial skill!

After learning of Shinobu's circumstances and her desire to "find a job that gives her real freedom," Sara would consider for a moment before inviting Shinobu to join the Tenryou Commission.

"Hmm... No, I think I'll pass. The civil service seems a bit too limiting for me..." At this point, Shinobu hesitated. "But if those legal lectures and martial arts training could be done part-time, I will definitely consider the offer."

From that day on, Shinobu would begin a new slew of part-time work.

One thing did surprise her, though — the general of the Tenryou Commission would always attend her lectures and demonstrations.

"It is only right that those who enforce the law should better understand it," so Sara said with perfect earnestness.

"The opportunity to test myself against similarly-skilled warriors is also not one I get often," Shinobu replied.

Sara's straightforward personality and decisive behavior were things Shinobu greatly approved of, and it was through this — and through Sara hiring her often to maintain figurines — that the two would quickly become friends.

Sara would also repeat her offer of employment several times, only for Shinobu to decline each time. Yet, this "job that brings true freedom" was not something she would find, either.

That is, until one day, when Sara wound up arriving late to the izakaya where they had arranged, as they often did, to meet and have figurines change hands, leaving Shinobu to drink till midnight.

"That's unexpected. I didn't think you could be late at all, Sara."

"Sorry. I was held up by a really rowdy gang..."

"A gang? And what gang could have troubled you that much?"

"Well, I wouldn't call them 'trouble' exactly. They call themselves the Arataki Gang..."
Character Story 5
Unlock ConditionUnlocks at Friendship Lv. 6
The news that the Arataki Gang now had a second-in-command raised a decent (though ultimately small) stir in Hanamizaka.

It was rumored that this deputy was well-versed in etiquette, law, and was quite the dapper hand physically as well, bringing the other members to heel within a few days of arriving.

Those who had witnessed this deputy's actions first hand were full of praise for them, saying that at long last, the Arataki Gang had someone polite and reasonable added to their ranks.

Some did worry about this development, however: the Arataki Gang was, after all, not a proper organization by any measure.

The little hullabaloos they had caused in the past were nothing, really, but with the arrival of someone who could be the "brains" of the organization, who might put some discipline into them... Could this not also be the harbinger of worse incidents to come?

Not to mention the Gang's daily operations... Other than logistics and transportation, home repair, and performance, they now added tax agency, legal consultation, event management and various other operations that both involved sizable capital investments and a not-insignificant air of danger to them.

Surely they weren't intending to do all these things without the right licenses... right?

And never mind the licenses, first — if they were to commit fraud in any of these newly-added businesses, they would surely be arrested by the Tenryou Commission!

However, these wild guesses and ill-omened rumors would quickly be dispelled. The Arataki Gang's actions afterward were more than enough to show that they were still a gang of their word.

Those who have attempted to enlist their new financial services have indeed seen their situations turned right around, and the transparency and uprightness of their processes have been stunning.

Of course, it is also a pity that the Gang remains the Gang. The children of Hanamizaka still live in fear of Arataki Itto coming to win their snacks off them come dinner time, and often still return to their homes fuming.

In any case, it seems that even this legendary second-in-command will take a long time to reform the Arataki Gang's more... unbound ways.
Oni Mask
Unlock ConditionUnlocks at Friendship Lv. 4
Kuki Shinobu had yet to wear her mask when she first joined the Arataki Gang.

While pursuing a certain business prospect, Shinobu was busy engaging in some serious talks. The other members of the gang were arrayed behind her in a single row, hands behind their backs and unsmiling.

"Just stay like that and don't say anything," Shinobu had instructed them to do so on short notice. "This is the most effective way of negotiating... For you guys, anyway."

The talks were going exactly as Shinobu expected, until a passing child suddenly pointed at her, exclaiming:

"Mama, mama, look! That's the shrine maiden who never smiled back at the Grand Shrine! Wow, she looks so cool!"

The child was whisked away by her panicked mother, but the quick departure did not change the mottled embarrassment and resignation on her face, as if she could not wait to flee for the hills and forests right that instant.

As for Itto's face, it was as if two onikabuto were wrestling for dominance upon it. Genta and the others, try as they might, ultimately lost their poker faces amidst gales of guffaws.

The next martial demonstration would, of course, see their faces beaten so hard that they were redder than Shinobu's was at that moment. If only they had known their fate, perhaps they might not have laughed quite so hard.

From that day on, Shinobu would sport that mask. Pitch-black and claws bared, it lent her a positively demonic aspect.

By the way, it was also that martial demonstration that served as the origin of her moniker "the demonic deputy".
Vision
Unlock ConditionUnlocks at Friendship Lv. 6
The day she left the shrine, Kuki Shinobu left all the things that she possessed while serving as a shrine maiden behind at home, starting over from the most basic of belongings.

As such, she knew immediately that the bag she lifted was not the right weight. Hadn't she only left towels inside it?

Reaching into the bag and fishing about, she pulled out, of all things, a glittering Vision, its loveliness so striking such that her sister, Miyuki, could not help but gasp.

An irony it was indeed that the shrine maiden who was fleeing her duties would receive a Vision for doing just that.

This, of course, was the very first "certification" that Shinobu would receive — from a god, certifying her freedom.

Indeed, Miyuki, who had intended to stop her at first, had a change of heart upon witnessing this sign, agreeing to help convince their parents.

...It was also due to this that she would willingly surrender her Vision while the Vision Hunt Decree was ongoing.

For one thing, she did not intend to make life difficult for her friend in the Tenryou Commission, but for the other, the Vision was but one of her many, many certificates.

Most things in life could, in any case, be settled without the use of a Vision, nor could the truly obdurate problems be dismissed simply by the dint of that device.

Removing generations worth of prejudice, for example, or searching for true, unbound freedom.

...Or, you know, stopping those dolts in the Arataki Gang from chomping at the bit to "help" her win her Vision back.

Her E heal and do zappy over time.
Her Q do zappy a lot. Good shield break.

She is neither bad or great. Just… Mid
Mid healing, mid DMG, electro is mid element so we don’t care if she do zappy well.
She can shine if you need both electro and healer.
      E.g. sucrose + xingqu/yelan/Mona +beidou + Shinobu.
So she can be a mix of oz and kokomi.
Or eula + rosaria + ….. + Shinobu as a mix of diona and Raiden or oz.

But I would assume you already build your teams if you play any of the above comp and Shinobu doesn’t really improve anything unless she open your team space for extremely strong characters.

Tldr. She ok, but not worth food unless you bored.

My only concern is the following :
What is the actual legitimacy of those bêta testers outside of providing us with copious leaks because let’s be honest, who in their right mind, sees a character with pretty much everything revolving on her Max HP stat, sees the out of nowhere and copiumly horrible at that split scaling on the damaging part of her skill (which seems to scale off ATK), and is fine with it. It happened before (Kokomi, Sayu…) and you’d think Hoyoverse would stop doing that.
No Dendro won’t change anything to that, not gonna give a tremendous amount of attack out of nowhere for that skill to.
And even if, why setup trash, that might be mid in the future instead of setting up good, that might be great ?
And the “enjoy the character and their story” argument has to stop at some point. No ppl aren’t playing Genshin Impact like it’s Doki Doki Literrature Club. It’s not lore that pays Hoyoverse bills but Raiden-like characters and Homa-like weapons.
Rant was good tho, I’m done coping on Kuki, thank god Heizou seems to be done right so I can look forward to him after enjoying Yelan

“Copiumly”? lol These copium and mid terms only apply to people who want to use characters for speedruns in the Spiral Abyss. You’d be surprised at the number of actual players in the game that don’t even bother to complete floor 12-3 of the Spiral Abyss every rotation, let alone get 36 stars. Meta players play Genshin for power – that’s fine, but you simply can’t speak for everyone.

That being said, the case with Kokomi was exacerbated because she can’t crit. Before the Clam set, she struggled even against Hilichurls in the open world. I’m not sure why HYV insists on creating kits that have various amounts of split scaling. And we can’t know for sure how Dendro will affect the damage output of Hydro and Electro characters yet.

For the record, there are people complaining about Heizou’s low base attack, lack of support utilities, and saying he is worse than Xiao. There is just no pleasing everyone.

I’ve honestly had a similar discussion with a friend and it is sort of baffling how unpolished a lot of the more recent characters seem to be. Beta testers probably are giving feedback and HYV is likely ignoring it. I’m not sure why HYV inhouse QA isn’t more concerned with balance and player feedback, but beta testers have probably done what they can and just been ignored, much like the rest of the playerbase in regards to various other aspects that are in desperate need of adjustment (artifact system and new player lockout being some of the most prominent imo).

Kuki didn’t have to be like this, but with how close she is to release the only hope for her now is the usual HYV method of trying to band-aid fix the character through artifacts and future character releases. Honestly one of, if not, the worst methods of adjusting characters I’ve ever encountered since there are characters like Yae and Qiqi who can’t be fixed though their usual methods due to the issues being baked into their kit itself. Yae will always feel clunky unless they go in and directly address how her skill works and Qiqi will always be overlooked in favor of other healers because her skill CD is too long and doesn’t generate energy. Kuki just has a really poorly conceived kit for the role HYV has designed her for, and if we ever see another electro healer implemented sometime down the line, Kuki will be pretty much made irrelevant in an instant. Sad state of affairs for a character that looks so good, but didn’t have any care of though put into her actual gameplay.

I agree with your line of thought and they way you’ve presented your concerns. It’s this type of pragmatic criticism that is way more likely to resonate with the community and encourage others to voice their concerns in a constructive way.

While everyone is always going to have different opinions on characters’ kits (which is ok), problems that are inherently part of a character’s mechanics is certainly a real issue. The artifact system has been a frustrating experience from the beginning. It’s no mystery that the RNG algorithm weighs very heavily toward providing (and upgrading) sub-optimal stats. Sadly, this may be by design; to keep players on the stat treadmill and possibly spending RL money for resin refills.

Kuki has such an awesome design and her animations look so sharp. I wish that her role as a healer was more complete.

And I have made the mistake of looking at the comments…
It is the same on every page! Is it not enough to just ‘like’ a character for the sake of their design or written character? In a game where there is like no PVP, that is all I see is everyone just at each other’s throats.

New mechanics are introduced all the time. She may or may not be good on your teams now, but that doesn’t mean she wouldn’t be perfect for a future character. Dendro has yet to be introduced still. I don’t know how many times I have seen people bash a character like this, only to come back months later saying that same character is the new meta. Happened to Zhongli, Bennet, Kokomi, ect. Whose to say Kuki won’t be on that list in a few months?

    And bashing Mihoyo/Hoyoverse…really? What are you even doing here then? If they are so bad and so greedy then don’t spend, or quit. Do you realize how many workers there are under that growing company? Game developers, designers, writers, artists, translators, voice actors for multiple languages- THAT is where most of your money goes. Some of it does go for new games, with new plot and story, new characters and theme. You don’t have to play them though? Most game companies do this. They have their Money Maker, and they use the excess in their budget to make new games. It is not a new thing Hoyo is doing. If you are salty you lost your last 50/50, I am sorry but bashing Hoyoverse isn’t going to help you, bud. ;;;

Ya’ll can mansplain all you want and argue about characters and builds, but I think I will just vibe and have fun with the game. It won’t be around forever. My 2 unwanted cents, since everyone else was tossing their crusty coins into the pot?
Play whoever you want/have and have fun.
Do your best. It’s not a competition or PVP.

Now… I have more stupid specters to farm…
Good luck on your current and future pulls, whether you pull for Kuki or not. 🙂 (I intend to at least try her out before judging her. )Happy gaming, gamers~

I wouldn’t be misled by what you see in the comment sections. There are a lot of troll posts here, and they don’t represent the players actually enjoying the game – let alone the fanbase at large.

The meta players are free to discuss multipliers, stats, and damage output all they like. Just ignore posters who resort to lame insults, name-calling, and accusations. Those are just toxic people trying to start drama. Nothing more.

It’s fine to just vibe and not approach the game in a more critical way, but if that’s going to be your approach then why engage with critical discourse at all? People are going to levy critique at poorly conceived character kits or mechanics because they simply want a better game for everyone.

Try to understand that if a character can function on a meta level, then that’s a win for everyone. Experimental kits are fine when they are properly tested and well thought out, but when a character looks or feels incomplete or outright dysfunctional with current mechanics then they probably are. Banking on future releases to address a character’s weaknesses is silly, because HYV could have just as easily designed the character to work with current teams instead of making them weak or outright obsolete until later patches. The onus is on HYV to either thoroughly test their characters, or start actually addressing character balance directly instead of trying to band-aid fix things with artifacts and hyper-niche supports.

In the case of Kuki specifically, she has very little hope of becoming relevant like the other units you listed, because those other units actually are some of the strongest in the game within their niche. Kuki just doesn’t have anything going for her aside from a bit of role consolidation, and she doesn’t even act as a decent healer for most teams due to her heal only working on the active character and lacking any other defensive utility. She’s a strictly single target healer with an offensive burst and no means to further support the team. Her kit falls squarely into the poorly conceived category for me because everything she offers, we already have but better designed. As a sub-dps she’s up against Fischl, Beidou, and Raiden which is some absurdly stiff competition and as a healer she has to at least match Diona, Sayu, or even Barbara in terms of healing and utility and she clearly falls short in that regard as well. It’d be silly to pit her against Bennett or any of the 5* healers, but it’s not unreasonable to have a standard of quality for new character releases based on existing characters. At the end of the day this is just a game, but it’s also a business. Players are customers so I’ve never really understood why people are so against having a standard of quality and critiquing HYV when they fail to meet that standard.

If you think that exposing mihoyo is “spreading paranoia and delusion” then I have a bad news for you…

          Psst… you’re a corporate whiteknight… in it’s natural habitat.

Simply because mihoyo is ruining a great game their developers have made with passion (genshin) by marring it with scummy monetization and backwards corporate practices. Mihoyo is an EA/ubisoft level of scummy corporate and should be called out until they stop being scummy as fk. Any attempt to shame/mock dissenting voices would net you the title of “Corporate Whiteknight”.

Don’t worry, I too enjoy the game. In fact, I love it. I thank genshin’s developers from the bottom of my heart by giving us this great game. But the corporate called “hoyoverse” that keeps on grieving them by forcing them to submit to scummy corporate practice, I dread them. Genshin impact and their developers would fare 1000 times better if they’re managed by different corporate. Like for example, the corporate who manage azur lane saw how successful the game was, and then they thank the community by making their gacha basically free, and everyone could easily get the characters they want, shifting their profit figure to selling costumes. Mihoyo on the other hand, see how successful genshin was, and they greed. They slow down development progress, milk genshin dry, keep the gacha as expensive as ever, and create new games to greed instead of actually improving on genshin. What a shining example of greed.

All made possible by the whiteknights defending them too. So, thanks, corporate whiteknights.

They still don’t suck. Shinobu is the first electro healer, has decent electro aura application, decent damage for a healer. If you think she sucks, you’re just bad at the game.

Might change in future when proper tc is done, but:
As a healer, she seems really wack cuz a single target and a little weak heals. Nobody really cares about electro application that much rn and even then, she is competing with an application monster like Fischl, who also deals high damage. Will remain to be seen, but I do not think she will be that bad because a healer still has innate value and if her damage is ok, she might be a fine option. Whereas some dysfunctional character like Thoma just doesn’t do anything well and his place in the only role he has is heavily contested by Amber and Xinyan. BY A FUCKING AMBER AND XINYAN!

So, while I don’t think she will be like that, but rn I do not see a way for her to be powerful and very relevant, unless her numbers will be high.

Decent damage for a healer, compared to what?
Because Mihoyo fails at making an endgame or doing anything other than scam whales, here are the only two healers you need for damage (ABYSS):

        – Bennett
        – Mona with Prototype Amber

Other healers are only used for comfort or as battery, and there are far better options as Electro battery.

To me she seems like a substitute for Raiden in teams where you absolutely need a healer and no one else can do the trick.

Example: Eula + Rosaria C6 + Zhongli / Yunjin C6 + Raiden. Obvious why this team deals a lot of DMG and has no healer, not so obvious on how to fix this issue without letting go of Rosaria or the Geo chars.

By using Kuki Shinobu you let go of Raiden’s Elemental Burst DMG bonus and Shinobu probably deals less damage herself, BUT she requires close to no field time at all and you keep Superconduct available without giving up on Rosaria or Zhongli / Yunjin. Specially effective if you are using Yunjin, as you’ll lack a shield.

As many of the comments on here are saying, her kit isn’t really well tailored to any current team options besides maybe mono-electro, or at least there are better options if you need a healer. For Tazer comps she doesn’t do enough damage to replace Beidou, nor does she seem to battery well enough to replace Fischl. Superconduct teams often have a flex spot, given the only phys character that isn’t either electro or cryo is Xinyan. While this may change in the future you can always just run Diona as your cryo character/battery + healer or use the flex spot for a healer. Overload blasting enemies away means any team using it usually wants to be able to apply electro from a distance, such as with Beidou/Fischl/Raiden, so Kuki very possibly doesn’t work here either (Also, just run Bennett).

Dendro may open up some options for her, but given her kit’s pretty messy a dendro healer has a very good chance of being the better option.

To go into a bit more detail with your example team: it can already use Diona. Sure, you lose the crit rate, phys reduction, and damage of Rosaria C6, but you gain shields, stamina reduction and move speed increase with Diona, which can help in ensuring Eula’s burst hits in the event you need to chase down or help to resist interrupt as you face tank. You have to consider that Rosaria’s 20% phys shred is adding on to the -40% from Superconduct, and -23% from Eula’s skill (presuming talent level 8) you already have. If you use the Zhongli variant, you also have his shield shred. With this you really choose more between Rosaria’s crit rate bonus (and Kuki’s ability to use ToM) or Raiden’s buffs/personal damage.
Alternatively, you can drop Zhongli/Yunjin for Jean or Sayu and get healing with VV shred to boost Raiden’s damage.

TLDR: Her issue is that every team that CAN use her has other options that provide more utility than Kuki herself offers, or the slots she’d replace seems to make the damage drop-off far too noticeable, given that the only portion of the game where team building is necessary is also a dps check.

She can use tenacity of the milelith. Which helps her heals and also 20% dmg boost and superconduct -40% physical resistance. And their could even be a better set for her in sumeru. You could use bennett but imo your better off putting him in a elemental team like national or kazuha.

There are better healer options for most teams but not the one I gave as example. I can’t think of any other example (even though they probably exist), but this one suffices.

I mean, she’s an Electro Healer with little field time requirement. The game is already saturated with healers, so she only has a place on comps where you strictly need an Electro healer. The example I gave has Raiden as the least important support, and if you don’t need Raiden’s Burst damage itself, then Shinobu can cover for heals.

Uh, I’d also like to add that Rosaria -> Diona is specially unworthy because Eula is one of the characters that benefit from Stamina Consumption Reduction the least and you’ll have a shield if you use Zhongli (there’s Yunjin’s crystallization too).

Not that much better of a battery either since Rosaria can use Favonius Lance with perfection (and well, you need to use Diona’s Skill twice if you use Sacrificial Bow in order to surpass Favonius Lance Rosaria as a battery).

TL; DR: 15% Crit Rate and 20% Physical RES reduction aren’t worth giving up to gain anything in an Eula team, AFAIK.

          • Still unfortunate on 17 May 2022 at 6:49 am
          • Reply

          1) I didn’t say Diona was a better battery (if you’re running a Raiden variant, either one is more than enough), nor did I say she was better for Eula than Rosaria, but she is a good option for Eula by providing both battery and healing/shields in the case you want the safety more than the consistent crit rate. Furthermore, the stamina reduction and move speed help Eula chase enemies in the event one jumps away, or you kill one and need to run to another. While Rosaria can distance close with her skill this means swapping to her and potentially losing stacks with Eula, while Diona’s bonuses allow Eula to be the one to chase without dropping her burst early. It’s a situational and niche use, yes but still a minor benefit. Because of these factors what I meant was that Rosaria -> Diona is probably a better option in terms of overall damage than Raiden -> Kuki.

          2) As explained, Rosaria’s 20% phys reduction isn’t that important overall, especially with the Zhongli variant. With ONLY Eula and superconduct you get -63% phys reduction at talent 8. AFAIK Ruin Guards are still the highest with 70% so a further 20% brings even them below 0, where the bonus you get from it is reduced by half. The Zhongli variant has an innate -83% with his shield, so Rosaria’s 20% isn’t as big a deal as you think, or at least act, as it is.

          3) Even if you want to keep Rosaria for the crit rate/res reduciton, you can still drop Zhongli/Yunjin for several options. I don’t really see how you’re saying Zhongli/Yunjin is worth keeping over Raiden’s 24% burst bonus, extra energy fill, and personal damage. Zhongli gives you some phys shred (again, not as high priority because you already shred any enemy in the game below 0), a petrify, and shielding (but you’re going for healing to cover survivability so his shielding is secondary priority). Yunjin gives you some attack speed and some auto damage, so MAYBE 2 more stacks and a bit of bonus damage. Meanwhile, Jean and Sayu give you VV access to boost Rosaria’s burst/Eula’s cryo damage or Raiden’s damage. Bennett is Bennett.

The point is that Kuki brings very little in terms of support outside of healing. A 20% ATK boost through ToM, which you could also throw on Zhongli in this team or replace with NO on someone. Other options give you the healing you want and provide at least SOME benefit to recoup a bit of the loss of whomever they replace. The greatest benefit I found for her in that team is that her electro application without her burst is pretty low, potentially allowing you to maintain cryo on enemies and gain the cryo res bonus for even further crit rate. Whether or not THIS is worth dropping Raiden for is something to debate, but I can’t be bothered anymore.

Eula has supports that can replace Bennett effectively, and Raiden won’t be much of a powerhouse (in terms of her own damage) without a support with VV (preferentially Kazuha, but he is ALSO requested for permafreeze), so I wouldn’t even bother dragging Bennett to buff her damage.

        • TWolf on 15 May 2022 at 7:39 pm
        • Reply

Between Milelith’s Bonus and Zhongli shield RES shred or C6 Yunjin’s Basic Attack DMG increase and her ATK Speed increase , Bennett isn’t much of an upgrade to this team (probably less than 10% more DPS). That’s beyond waste when it comes to such a otherwise broken unit.

Another downside to this replacement is Bennett’s self Pyro application, which may result in Overloaded thus throwing Eula back and messing with her combos. That’s specially evident when the unit you are trying to replace is Zhongli, since he also gives a fat shield, can crystalize and gives extra Interruption resistance.

Oh, you can also get Vape / Melt with this. Not a good thing to happen either.

(TBH, before Zhongli’s buff and Yunjin’s debut, this was just cope for the fact that I planned / now did put Bennett into C6, which only really negatively affects Eula and Razor; But now it stands as a very valid point, thus I don’t need smoke copium anymore).

          • Whoa dude on 16 May 2022 at 6:05 pm
          • Reply

No that’s pure copium. Geo is the worst element for damage and using 2 Geo support for a non-Geo dps is a bad idea when better options are available, the geo resonance isn’t enough to balance the loss of reactions. Zhongli is a huge dps loss (except against Ruin robots), Eula with Superconduct already shreds 75% Physical. If you need a shield that badly you can just use Diona who will also work as battery but that isn’t meta either. Eula has 100% interruption resistance during her burst combo btw.

My Eula burst crit for 500k with Raiden and Bennett, under 350k without them. Ignoring the burst you’re better off adding subdps like Fischl (or Beidou, XQ…) for sustained damage or using Rosaria C6 to boost the crit rate of everyone and battery Eula (and shred Phys as much as Zhongli) – rather than the very niche C6 Yunjin limited to Eula’s NA: her speed buff is minor because of claymore hit lag and won’t buff the burst count at all.

I don’t get your point about getting Vaped/Melt/Overloaded in Bennett’s zone, that can happen to literally any character and is usually a minor inconvenience. If anything Eula cares less about this because of her high HP&DEF and interrupt resistance.

Eula scales entirely with ATK, Bennett is as godly for her as he is in most teams.

            • TWolf on 19 May 2022 at 1:03 am

I never implied using two Geo characters; It’s one or another. I understand that you are confused about it considering that I only use the “or” word once (more than enough, though), but in this case it would be wiser to read previous comments than it is to suppose that I meant the two.

“Ignoring the Burst… (something, something)… C6 Yunjin is niche”. Shouldn’t it be the other way around? Eula’s NAs are greatly enhanced by Yunjin’s Talents, and the C6 AS increase here has no 7 seconds window to perform, so by sheer number of hits, it comes even closer to an actual 15% increase in damage. This is no joke, as VV is considered a “broken” support set for increasing the damage output by around 29% (actually less if the enemy has less than 10% Elemental RES, or more if they have more than 10%).

Then you change your stance saying that yes, it’s the NA that gain the most? Like, WTF?

But then, again, you’re still taking a Yunjin and Zhongli duo into consideration here when I never implied using the two, so it makes sense that it has become such a mess. I’m not guilty for it though.

The team is Zhongli OR Yunjin + Eula + Rosaria + Raiden, with Shinobu as a possible replacement for Raiden considering that Raiden’s main role on this team is Superconduct and being a hell of a battery, so if you replace her with another Electro character, you are only losing her battery powahs and a dismal amount of Burst DMG.

And, well, I don’t think you can do 14 hits with an Eula without any additional AS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_nznDWN9jM
Provided this is well bellow 10% increase in damage, it’s still there, and it may result in 16 stacks with R1 Pines. May be wrong.

BTW, when comparing teams, ESPECIALLY ones that have or can have Rosaria, it’s worth taking the critical rate into consideration; “I hit X with Bennett and Y without him” says little about your actual DPS, which in all honesty is what matters the most. 15% Critical Rate is a LOT.

            • Whoa dude on 19 May 2022 at 7:24 pm

Actually the solution is obvious: replace Zhongli/Yunjin by Bennett in that team.

DPS is way higher with Eula+Bennett than any Eula+Shinobu team, it’s pretty simple.

Maybe I am calculating this incorrectly but by my calculation, you only lose quite little healing by going full EM build. With my bases I am planning to build her to, she only loses 200 healing per E tick on full EM build, which is acceptable to me totally when I can get some better damage with full EM build. Also dendro leaks look favourable to electro reactions and with Yae hinting as well to this with her EM scaling as well as now Kuki, I am personally going full EM now.

Plus yes, Dendro reactions are quite something, but they don’t seem to include anything for the effect of AMP, so no direct scaling with EM (just like Electro)?

Let’s not forget that by using a full EM build you also lose a lot on her healing compared to having at least a %HP Sands.

Premise you should always go for healing bonus for the heals; a 35k hp Shinobu (no set or weapon bonuses,2 hp main stat, healing bonus hat and 20% for the other 3 artifacts) can heals around 3k per tick, an almost full EM (850, no set bonus and with healing hat) can heals 2k; it’s not exactly a small difference (and I didn’t go max on hp). You should probably focus on hp and then hope for some roll on EM.

This character would probably work in overload/superconduct comps, but it also seems like they’re trying to do 2 different things at once because their skill damage doesn’t scale with hp. It’s also weird how bad the elemental mastery bonuses are, because EM seems like something that would be great for her if it had decent scaling. The healing doesn’t seem that bad (if it ticks every 1.5s) and it has permanent uptime with C2, but I can’t imagine how awful she’s gonna be against corrosion enemies. Kuki is most likely going to be near death at all times because of the bonus to her burst and healing she gets at low health along with the hp cost of her skill, so she’ll either die almost instantly from corrosion or you’ll have to put her on the field and lose out on significant dps while she heals herself. I’ll definitely pull them just to see if I can free up a slot for another sub dps by using her on an overloading Yoimiya team where she can function as both the electro character and the healer.

She does about 3k healing with a TotM 4pc hp% hp% heal bonus% with 30k hp which is similar to my 20k hp poorly built barbara, which is to be expected because unlike barbara, it does damage as well. What I’m disappointed is that Kuki could’ve had like a lifesteal ability with her burst because of how rapid that attack is. My build is expected to 10k of dmg and if it had a group healing effect that divided it to the entire party, I would’ve loved her as my favorite way of healing. It’s a shame she has no way of healing the off party members. Barbara and qiqi can heal the entire party through their basic attacks with their passive healing but kuki doesn’t.

Artifact Set Bonus: 4pc ToM (HP/EM/EM) no ER sands since im not bothered by her burst

Talents: Skill > Burst > NA

Teams: Taser (not preferred since Kuki Shinobu’s Elemental Skill does not deal significant damage akin to Beidou’s Burst, Fischl’s Bird, etc but it can APPLY electro), Superconduct (by far her best usage, she can proc the 4pc ToM, activate Freedom-Sworn’s passive easily, heal Eula since she has to facetank when building stacks during her Burst’s Lightfall Duration’s 7s duration)

Hi! I also wanna build her but I’m honestly kinda lukewarm with her.
      1) Her auto atk scaling is through attack, not HP.
      2) It is not 75% healing bonus with EM. It is Bonus Healing 75% of EM. Similar to Sayu.
ex.) you have 1000 EM, it will probably add 750 flat Heal to your current heals. [note: that is 1000 EM]
      3) Her healing scaling is pretty low. With a 30 000 max HP (HP sands and goblet Healing bonus circlet, with tenacity of millileth) At talent level 10 her total heal would be 3384 per tick, without any burst heals, her utility as a healer decreases. Let’s see if the ticks are rapid once she’s released.
      4) You’re right though, running ToM with her is super viable!!!
      5) I’ll probably outfit her with the EM sword to increase her healing. even then the healing increase is still quite low.

Do you really believe that? You really believe that don’t you? You think mihoyo is thinking about our best interest? Well, that’s funny, because the best teams in the game uses characters that’s released before ayaka (including her) and sometimes raiden because despite mihoyo’s attempt on removing raiden-beidou because they hate us, national team still appreciates her.

Mihoyo really hate us, they think our fun must be handicapped through our wallet. We’re just walking wallets for them, exists to fund their new games of greed (star rail and the rumored new FPS game), using genshin as the bait because they know that the game have zero competition on the market. Star rail is the turn based strategy version of genshin, also aiming to monopolize the market.

      Mihoyo’s plan:
      – Lie to their developers, promising a masterpiece of a game
      – Milk genshin to death
      – Divert genshin’s resources and development power towards creating new game that will also monopolize the market
      – Cancel all gameplay improvement on genshin
      – Create star rail to be the only live service strategy turn based anime mobile game in the market
      – Create new FPS game to be the only live service FPS anime mobile game in the market
      – Frustrate their developers because they don’t wanna support this atrocious scummy plan
      – Rely on corporate whiteknights to defend them
      – ???
      – Profit

What’s the point with Raiden/Beidou ? Would have it been that OP ? You can still play them together by driving Beidou’s Burst with Sucrose or Kokomi, then switch on Raiden to damage + refill energy and start again. Ok you will loose some seconds (and DPS) in rotation (Beidou burst cd 20 sec vs Duration 15 sec + Raiden 7 sec) but driving Electro with Electro doesn’t seem as good as driving it with Hydro or Anemo…

          “What’s the point with Raiden/Beidou?”

That is a prime example of mental gymnastic. Don’t fell for that dude, not healthy. It’s the starting point of copium ridden life, try to stay away from that kind of life. Normal people don’t inhale copium.

Btw, Raiden-Beidou team would be Xinqiu Sara Beidou Raiden, in that order of rotation.
Xinqiu Q+E (use lion’s roar or jade cutter with xq, not sac sword, you won’t need the excess ER)
Sara E+Q (just quick swap, no CA needed)
Beidou E+Q (don’t hold E, no need to try to parry, you don’t need the extra particles, but you need the quick execution to snapshot sara’s short duration buff)
Raiden E+Q (initial Q hit buffed by sara, doing a lot of damage)

This team slaps. You can even swap xinqiu for bennett if you want more DPS for this team, but then you can’t run national variant in the other team, so it’s not really recommended. It’s a great team that’s almost as great as raiden national, but more importantly, it’s so fking satisfying because of how well it synergize and now you can run international team on the other side of the abyss.

Raiden national is a great team, but it’s just another fking national variant. Mihoyo simply want to limit your team building capacity, and that’s the reason for the nerf. That’s also the reason why they nerf yelan. Even worse, they do it to forcibly sell both character’s C2. EA will be proud. Me personally won’t let them get away with these scummy practices. Nobody should let them get away with it.

PS: Raiden beidou will also appreciate kuki shinobu so damn much as she can replace xinqiu as team’s healer, or even the nerfed yelan to replace xinqiu. Too bad it’s just a pipe dream now. All of those team building potential and future proofing, gone. Reduced to ashes, all thanks to mihoyo insisting on forcing C2 sales. Raiden is forever confined in the national team, or as the boring hypercarry. What a scumbag mega corporate.

Beidou+Raiden would have been too op (with cons would have been broken af).
I’m not doing big the big math process but imagine.

          Raiden c2 or c3 (c0 could work but yeah, way less damage)/Beidou c6/Bennet c1/Sara c6.

          Rotation
          1. Bennet uses his Q = +1k attack
          2. Beidou uses her Q > snaps her ult with Bennet buff and also 15% electro def shred
          3. Sara uses Q>E> 60% electro cd for Raiden slash (you can buff Beidou but rotation could be messy)
          4. Raiden uses her Q and destroys everything.

          Things to consider.
          >Beidou doesn’t would need insane ER so her build would be more offensive oriented with WGS. (20k~30k ticks)
          >Raiden would have another instance of AoE damage (stormbreakers jumps)

With this team you can drop Bennet for second team and put Jean, Sayu or even Kazuha (if you trust in Beidous shield) for VV buff without a big loss of dps.

Raiden/Beidou team would have been one of the best because big damage and not requiring exclusively any core member of the national team.

Btw, Kuki’s kit is underwhelming like Thoma’s. Nobody knows if Dendro is going to be an offensive element or a supportive like anemo. Rn verything about Dendro benefits is hopium and also, Fischl as electro support (ToM) with Bennet (as healer/support) would be a better combination for any Dendro dps.

Too OP? Not really, you wouldn’t call childe international “too OP” would you? It’s the gateway team for F2P to reach whale level of abyss run (not speedrun) due to it’s massive DPS.
It’s just around the level of childe international or ganyu’s morgana with 3+ groupable enemies scaling quadratically.

The true reason why mihoyo won’t let you do it is just because it’s a whole different team than national team. They won’t let you have your national team in one side, and raiden in the other side. If you wanna run raiden optimally, your only option is another national variant. Let’s be real, after ayaka, we haven’t got any new character that allows us to build a proper optimal team that can surpass nor equals childe’s international team in any way shape or form without coming back to national team or freeze team.

Yoimiya – lol nope, hypercarry teams ain’t even close to national/freeze team level
            Raiden – national again innit?
Kkomi – freeze team again innit? Unless you count way too dank sukokomon as a team
Itto – lol nope, hypercarry teams ain’t even close to national/freeze team level
Shenhe – freeze team again innit? Not even that much of an improvement over using kaeya/rosaria, just barely an improvement
            Yae – dysfunctional innit?
Ayato – none of his team, not even his tazer team is as optimal as national, or even traditional tazer variant

Hate her as you may, but even the dreaded eula team offer a unique burst centric physical team that can do freeze team level of DPS if you crit and hit all of your burst’s damage… well, albeit the trillions of resets required for that, including the hair pulling shenanigans. Right after ayaka, everything just went to shit, just the same ol same ol shit all over again. We used to joke that new character isn’t new content, it’s even more true after ayaka release. New character doesn’t even offer anything new for team building.

Gone was the dream of optimal raiden team without bennett and xiangling duo. Raiden hypercarry is kinda a joke without C2, and even that team requires bennett or it’s a total joke even at C2. Raiden-beidou really was her only option of true team building variety. Mihoyo did well on strictly limiting our ability to build an optimal team. As great as raiden national is, it’s just another national team variant, and it kinda makes me regret pulling her. Not because she’s weak, I’m having so much easier and smoother abyss time thanks to that team, I don’t even need to do any particle funneling for my xiangling, pure smooth rotations, I regret her because I supported mihoyo’s scummy practice by falling into their trap and topped up to pull for raiden at day 1. I’d rather not have her and stick with my childe, I’m fine with a doing a few particle funneling anyway.

And yea, kuki is as underwhelming as thoma. Not only the 5 stars won’t offer new team building potential, the 4 stars are also getting worse and worse. Well played mihoyo, well played. EA would be proud.

After looking at her kit for a while, fiddling with numbers and trying to find a way to play her besides the obvious Tazer set up with EM/HP/HB on Cinnabar/Dark Iron Sword/Iron sting ~

I figured why not make her a playable character for at least some of the game? Sure, it might not be Abyss 12 full 9/9 clear build, but it should allow to clear most of the game with relative ease.

TL:DR its a HP/HP/Crit set up on either Pale Flame, Shimezawa or Millileth set and it requires use of Primordial Jade cutter to be the best It can, but you can try your luck with a different Crit sword.

The idea is simple, you stack HP for the Burst damage and the bonus health buffer to heal yourself more, and depending on the set and character set-up taking advantage of different parts of the kit, while getting vast majority of your attack stat out of the Jade cutter passive.

Some team ideas would be: Shinobu, Beidou, Kaeya, Sucrose – A very budget team considering the raw requirements to make Shinobu work. For this team you I would run Pale Flame as you will be able to use Kaeya or whatever cryo unit of your choice for Superconduit reaction meaning you will take advantage of Shinobus average normal attack scaling and the Physical damage bonus from the pale flame set. Anemo unit would be there mostly to boost the Burst damage for Both Shinobu and Beidou, in this case I feel Sucrose would be the better choice over Sayu, Jean or Traveler as all of them displace enemies, if its not too rich for you Venti or Kazuha are also outstanding replacements, with Kazuha being better due to Ventis tendency to lift enemies out of melee range.

Another Team that might be worth considering would be : Shinobu, Zhong, Yun Jin, Chongyun/C6Bennet(for those unfortunate few that activated it)
Here is a very similar idea as the last team, but this allows the use of Shimezawa or Millileth set to boost Zhong shield (if zhong is not using the set already) and extra attack for the whole team. Shimezawa to boost the normal attack damage further while not depending on physical damage sources entirely with elemental infusion from other characters, and 2x Geo for the neat 15% damage boost, combined with Yun Jins bonus Normal attack steroid and Shimezawa, we can expect some nice results. Zhong can be replaced by another Geo shielder (Noelle being the only other alternative at the moment) or you can try using High EM Albedo instead.

These are just few creative ideas, but i highly doubt those are competitive teams or builds, but just some ideas for Main dps Shinobu.

Yeah I don’t disagree that Kuki seems a bit half-baked to say the least. Not to mention her losing 30% of health to use skill is absolutely the dumbest thing ever for a character who’s primary role is healer. To me if you’re going to put such a huge negative or penalty then her AOE damage or healing/support potential needs to incredible. Neither are the case here, which is frankly piss poor design.

What they should’ve done is designed her where her Skill does solid healing and solid damage, (I.e. At Lvl 10 – 10% Max HP heal per sec & 200% skill dmg on her AOE). Then similar to HuTao have her burst do a heal to regain her health and if the burst is cast during the AOE ring duration it creates and explosion for 400% dmg, and instantly heals her for 30%. At least then that would be interesting and create some level of viability either as a healer or damage dealer. Not to mention the mechanics would be somewhat fun to use and could create interesting team comps. Unfortunately, her current setup has weak dmg and even weaker healing, which makes her virtually worthless. Just a shame.

her healing is already gonna be above average with how much uptime and tick rate it has… High base hp, hp% ascension stat, healing bonus passive, and it heals every 1.5 seconds. If her healing multipliers were any higher, she would literally have Bennett level heals for a skill with almost 100% uptime and it follows you around wherever you go.

her damage numbers do look pretty sad though, lol. Her DPS got shafted. Since she can get such a high hit point pool though, running around with her at 20% Hp shouldn’t be too bad if she has 40k max lol. You’d have to get lucky with Hp% on your artifacts though to get 40k max. Unless you have Jade Cutter, then it might not be too hard. At level 80/90, just level 20 flower, hp% sands and hp% goblet gives her just about 30k hp if you have no hp substats. I absolutely hate how her dps isnt even gonna be average. I guess hoyoverse wants to make it very clear that her only job is a gonna be flooding the active character with healing and maybe proccing electro.

an electro healer with passive aoe damage and doesnt restrict the healing to a stupid ass ring on the ground. How useful are those healing circles if you get forced out and they only heal a single active character? Just think of all the characters already in the game that heal with an area on the ground: Jean, Bennett, Diona, Kokomi, Sayu
Now how many healers do we have that will heal the active character no matter where they are, what they are doing or how far they move? fucking Barbara, she is the only one in the entire game that can heal like this and now Kuki will be the second and she is much more specialized for this very task, her skill has short cd, no cd with constellations. it does damage and applies electro, barbara just makes things wet. Kuki heals every 1.5 seconds and has hp% as her ascension stat and healing bonus built into her passives, barbara has less base hp with the same hp% ascension stat and zero healing bonus in her kit. Oh yeah and Kuki’s healing ticks more than 3 times faster than Barbara’s. If you consider Barbara to be a decent passive healer then face it, you don’t know what you are talking about when you say that Kuki is trash. Kuki can also make use of those sad artifacts that rolled a ton into em and hp%. Kuki make’s Barbara look picky. Stop saying she is trash just because you see a lot of things that scale off different stats or because you say her numbers look small, the only characters that can passively heal the active character faster than 1.5s is Bennett and maybe Jean but those are limited to a small area on the ground and your energy level.

I love Kuki to death, but I can’t just praise her like this man… She can’t even heal co-op allies or have a sustainable on-field Electro DPS build without sacrificing either her Skill or Burst’s max potential. She’s also incapable of healing more than 1 ally at a time, so against corrosion enemies you’ll be playing with huge party HP loss like you would with Diona and Bennett. It’s also worth noting that her EM scaling is basically just an insult as far as Heal boosts for Skill DMG boosts, unless you’re going for some serious reaction damage it’s basically a waste. It’s just like with Thoma, Hoyo half-assed a request that players have had for a long time, and don’t really care about making it better just because “They’re a 4* unit, what do you want another Meta-breaker like Bennett??”. No. I just want decent 4* units that don’t feel so iffy, even at the C6 that’s supposed to “make them great”. Big shock, right? I’m not gonna toss any “copium overdose” lines at you, i’m tired of hearing them too. I’m just gonna say that she deserved a whole lot better than what she got.

True the em passive is pretty pathetic but honestly, I think she doesn’t even need it. It is probably just a filler passive like Diluc’s useless charged attack passive. Miko has some em scaling that increases the damage of her totems but no one says you should go for a full em build with Miko. Miko already has enough problems as it is. The em passive on Kuki is probably just going to be really similar to Miko’s em scaling in terms of actual utility, it’s nice to have but you shouldn’t rely on it for the majority of use cases. Miko is probably a bad example of that because of how much Hoyoverse botched her kit though lmao. The fact that Kuki can’t heal all party members at once is a bit disappointing, yes, but nothing about her kit even lends to her being an active on-field character, making her pretty poor for coop by default. She will be less useful in coop but in singleplayer and abyss, her healing will be very forgiving and I don’t think people would really care. The point is that she provides almost 100% uptime for passive healing to the active character. A healing-oriented build with Kuki could restore around 12k-15k hp to Raiden during just her burst alone and you will get that healing regardless if you have to run down a stupid rifthound who always has the zoomies or not. On another note, the thought of a dedicated healer that scales off of only em sounds kinda interesting but Sayu kinda fills that niche anyways. Plus she is anemo so she makes the most out of em anyways since swirl can’t crit. I don’t want another off-field sub-DPS electro character, 5 out of the 8 electro characters in the game can fill that role already. passive electro damage is probably the most common passive elemental damage in the game, Geo might be the only one close because of Zhongli and Albedo, and even Gorou. Electro has Beidou, Lisa, Fischl, Raiden, and Miko. Do we really need another off-field electro DPS of any kind? Would it really be a loss if the only electro healer didn’t have good passive damage? If you run her with any other electro character, chances are that they could do better off-field damage anyway so why even bother? I do find it a little annoying that Hoyoverse made her capable of passive damage like pretty much most of the electro characters. Instead of making it provide some sort of buff like increased resistance to interruption or 5% elemental damage bonus for the active character, anything but the pitiful amount of damage she will do with her skill would be nice. I guess it is only there to blend some particle generation into her kit. It’d also be nice if she had a little def shred somewhere in her kit like lisa but not too much so that it isnt ‘meta changing’ like bennett. Im tired of just attack buffs… Everyone and their dog has access to countless atk% buffs but there is only a few abilities that shred def and res.

Jean heals all your teammates to the brim by just pressing Q, healing circle is just a bonus. Sayu circle is HUGE, Diona gives you shield so whats the big deal, Kokomi jelly fish have decent AoE + enormous heal and Q exsist = heals + resets jelly fish.

And no, not only barbra, also qiqi.

Kuki heals 1 character, ONE. If you care ONLY about healing you go 4pc ToM hp sand hp gob healing circlet + iron sting/black iron. on lvl 13 u can heal for 4400 points per 1.5 sec or 5200 but with 4pc maiden build

In any other case (or just realistic situation, surely i see you crowning her) your healing is around 2 to 2.6k

And cool, now, do we NEED that? Not yet. I guess sumeru will be hell. (kokomi -> corrosion) (kuki -> sumeru/dendro -> ultra-hyper-toxic environment dealing 10% dmg to active character per second or else)

This is just the bare minimum, no extra substats that benefit her healing and even if you remove the iron sting, she stays over 3k healing just barely. You do have to keep her under half health, however.

2 piece ToM and 2 piece Healing bonus are pretty good, it doesn’t quite heal as much but you get a small bonus to burst damage. Though I don’t think it’ll do very much damage regardless.

Surprisingly the Jade cutter isn’t actually better for healing than the iron sting lmao. It will undoubtedly be better for damage but it’s just marginally worse than iron sting for healing. Probably wouldn’t even notice the tiny loss in healing with Jade cutter

Congratulations on displaying how awful you are at this game. If standing in a circle is too difficult for you to manage, then maybe don’t comment on character effectiveness as if you know what you’re talking about. Also good job disregarding Qiqi as one of the other healers that heals without one of those dreaded circles you seem to struggle with so much. Thought you should know that Shinobu’s skill doesn’t heal the party, just the active character. Also worth mentioning that Sayu and Jean heal the entire party upon activating burst and then heal over time while standing in the circle. If you’re going to gripe about game mechanics at least do a bit of research first…

Shinobu’s healing will be ass when compared to healers that have more utility built into their kit. Barbara has access to TTDS and her hydro element which just makes her inherently more valuable than Shinobu in the vast majority of teams that aren’t a complete meme. Jean and Sayu have access to VV shred and party wide heals along with good energy gen. Diona is one of the best cryo batteries in the game and also provides a shield along with 4pc NO. I’m going to hope you understand already why Bennett is so ubiquitous…
Shinobu’s EM scaling is absolutely atrocious and not worth even bringing up given how little you realistically get from it when building her full HP. Building full EM is even more laughable and will result in an even worse build which is honestly impressive. The only thing she has going for her currently is good uptime on 4pc TotM.

How much healing a character can pump out is largely irrelevant to the vast majority of teams. The only time it matters is with 4pc OHC, which Shinobu won’t even be a viable user of, and during heavy corrosion which she is incredibly ill suited to handle. With her current kit Shinobu is going to struggle to find a team where she’s actually a decent choice and not just pure hopium. Taser teams are about the only place where she might have a chance and that’s only if she can match Fischl in terms of particle generation. Everywhere else, we just have way better options.

That’s a lot of words you just put into my mouth lmao.
        1. I know I forgot about Qiqi but she has the same issues as Barbara, she is primarily an active healer with low passive healing capabilities. Both have retarded energy issues as well, change my mind.
        2. Nowhere did I say I personally struggle with circles, the whole point I was trying to get across is that Barbara and Qiqi are the only characters who can do anything similar to Kuki. And we already have a plethora of characters that slap down these circles that force you to have to stay put, relatively speaking. At no point in my rant did I mention that the circles are bad. One of my biggest gripes with healing circles has to do with how Bennett imbues the active character with pyro. This immediately makes several kinds of elemental attacks deal more damage to the character. For cryo and hydro it’s not really as much of a problem in my experience because there isn’t many hard-hitting cryo or hydro enemies so Bennett’s insane healing completely remedies that leaving electro… have you tried fighting an electro cicin mage while you were standing on Bennett’s burst? Those cunts are already annoying enough to fight when they aren’t overloading you. Now also imagine you have to fight a fat electro hammer fuck with no cryo and you can’t manage to kill him before his shield comes up. No one enjoys that, I don’t care how skilled you are. Wanna fight the Thunder manifestation? Gotta make use of the circle as fast as possible because that thing just has a boner for aoe electro attacks that like to drive you insane. It is also the worst offender of using the zoomies to make everything more difficult, wouldn’t it be nice if you could have some cheap healing while you are chasing down that over-glorified electro cicin? And don’t even try saying you can just use a ranged character, I’m aware yoimiya can delete that thing in seconds. That’s not the point. If it was just as easy as using a ranged DPS character then I guess I’ll just pull a fully built ganyu out of my ass along with Amos bow and a fully built team and artifacts. It’s not a skill issue when Hoyoverse is fully aware that Bennett is broken and wants to balance him without directly nerfing him. The only way they can do that is with Corrosion, attacks that just one shot you outright (Raiden boss fight), or mechanics that make it difficult to make use of fantastic voyage such as all the new enemies being able to dash uninterrupted about a mile away or have I-frames. You can’t say ‘Hoyoverse isn’t trying to dethrone Bennett as the king of meta’ with a straight face. They have been trying to do this for a long time now.
        3. I have Jean, there is nothing wrong with her healing when you can use it, but it’s locked behind her burst, and if you don’t have her burst, no significant healing unless you have like 3k attack and spam normals. Sayu, same difference, locked behind burst with extra caveats, the res shred with VV is always going to be meta, do I even need to mention it? Diona, locked behind burst but at least she provides a shield and can self battery with her skill, shes a good cryo support. It’d be nice if I had her and more cryo characters to begin with. Do you see the recurring theme with all these characters? I shouldn’t have to spell it out.
        4. Yes, Shinobu has absolutely tragic em scaling, it’s even worse than what Miko gets but if Hoyoverse wanted to make a character that needed em to heal the most, they would have made them anemo unless they get drunk like when they decided Xinyan was a good idea. Sayu already does this to some extent. I’m not defending them for giving her such useless em scaling, they could have chosen just about anything else but they went with this.

If I haven’t made myself clear, the point I’m trying to get across is that no other character in the game can passively heal the active character for more hp per second with a single press of the E key and nothing else. Means that it’s guaranteed to heal to the active character and unless you get clapped, you will still gain the same amount of hp no matter the situation. If you can show me a character who can do this better than Shinobu, I’ll force myself to build Xinyan or something.

Seriously, why do we care if a character has decent passive healing when healing is such a negligible part of how teams perform in abyss? The only time it’s relevant is during corrosion and Shinobu is literally the worst healer to handle that. You seem to be complaining a lot about the mobility of recent mobs and the focus on electro being an issue for Bennett, but considering the vast majority of his teams center around snapshotting his buff this should be a complete non issue. You don’t have to stand in the circle once you snapshot the buff onto any units that need it, so you’re free to move out of it or chase down enemies once you start your rotation. If you have to stand in the circle for healing, it begs the question as to why you took so much damage in the first place? The only mobs I know of that have attacks that literally can’t be dodged are Andrius, Raiden, and Geovishaps. Thunder manifestation is annoying to fight because of its mobility, but its attacks are piss easy to dodge so healing shouldn’t be a concern on that fight. I’ve literally never seen anyone complain about hammer fatui before, so I really don’t know what to tell you other than bring some cryo I guess? Kaeya is free after all…

IDK what is is about characters having a high energy cost being a point of contention for you when the characters themselves have exceptional energy gen to compensate. Jean, Sayu, and Diona all have incredible energy gen so saying their healing is “locked behind their burst” as if you rarely ever get to actually utilize it implies you’re not building your characters or teams correctly. If it’s not the energy cost you draw issue with and merely the fact that they can only do any meaningful amount of healing with their bursts, again, what is dealing so much damage to you that you require more healing than a burst every 20 seconds provides?

Shinobu just falls short in almost every regard from my point of view. It’s honestly baffling that HYV managed to design a kit like this when they should already have an idea of how healers function in their game and how players have been utilizing them. They failed to give her any meaningful utility for the amount of HP she sacrifices and her burst is bare bones in terms of what it offers to a team. She’d be in a better position had they just given her an HP scaling shield on her skill and a burst that heals with additional effects at 50% HP threshold. It feels like they didn’t know what direction they wanted to take the character so they just threw some random shit from other characters together and now we’ve got this absolute mess of a kit. Variety in character kits is all well and good so long as it doesn’t come at the cost of the character’s gameplay. Sadly for us, HYV doesn’t seem to think in those terms right now.

And Barbara has a nice emergency button. The true sad thing is that, despite the activation deals damage, she don’t generate particles with her skill.

You forgot Qiqi who heals the active character anywhere and can also heal the team.
Jean and Sayu heal the entire team with their burst (huge amount for Jean). The area on ground (large area for Sayu) is just convenient to keep the active character at full HP.
      Bennett is Bennett.
In the meta Diona is the best healer after Bennett and the best shielder, since this is Cryo Impact.
Kokopium is fine if you don’t have Mona. She can heal the team during her burst.
Barbara applies Hydro, buffs Hydro dmg and heals the entire team (huge amount) with her burst. She is only annoying against Cryo enemies.

Face it, Kuki is the worst healer by far. No team heal, team buff or shield, instead she kills herself for no reason.
She fills a niche for now but literally any future electro healer would make Kuki 100% useless… unless Mihoyo keep releasing worse and worse characters.

        • Reply

I won’t deny the points you bring up but I fail to understand why you think Kuki will be the worst healer. You will be hard-pressed to find a character that can reliably heal this much without actively healing via normal and charged attacks, (Kokomi, Barbara, Qiqi, and Noelle) or the use of a burst. (Bennett, Diona, Sayu, Jean, and Barbara again)
Correct me if I’m missing something but just because the multiplier for healing is low, doesn’t mean it’s bad. In a vacuum where nothing else matters, I can see how it would matter but there is a variety of other circumstances and stats that would determine if a character is good at something. the main deciding factor here is the healing speed, it’s by far the fastest continuous regeneration you can get from any skill in the game. Only active healers that heal with normal attacks are faster and Bennett because as you said, he’s Bennett… not even Sayu’s first passive talent can heal faster but it can be argued that since its heals the full team, it is still better since Sayu can fill many roles in a team.

        • 'for no reason'? did you only read up to that point? on 28 April 2022 at 1:29 am
        • Reply

she hurts herself for a very good reason, she gains a healing bonus and a sizeable damage increase. It wouldn’t even matter all that much if she had tons of hp. Sounds kinda like a very popular and familiar pyro DPS character… Do you also think Hu Tao is trash solely because she hurts herself? Kuki gains various buffs from being lower health so it’s definitely not ‘for no reason. Saying she hurts herself for no reason is like saying Sucrose is trash since she buffs the em of your team but doesn’t get em as her ascension stat like Lisa.

I don’t think you’re the one who doesn’t even know what you’re talking about dude… barbara is not decent, she’s bat shit awful and nobody call her decent. And that’s not because of her healing, nobody value characters from their healing, even kkomi, the queen of healing, the best at that job, is not being valued for her healing.

Do you know what barbara being valued at? Just like kokomi, her hydro application. And it’s sucks, so she sucks. But it’s better than nothing cause in the end, she’s hydro, and low rate hydro application is at the very least being used in freeze team.
But this 4 star is not hydro, not a cryo, not a pyro, nor she’s an anemo. She’s not part of the 4 amping/freezing elements, but an electro. So she doesn’t have any elemental application value at all.

So, nobody value healing, because this game doesn’t care about healing as a goal, she have no elemental application value, and she give zero buff capability. What is she being valued at then? Her DPS and her energy particle generation, and that’s where things fell apart.

Face it, 4 star character’s value is going downhill rather rapidly in this game. We used to forgive genshin’s extremely predatory gacha by saying that their 4 stars are great, but that’s old news already. New 4 stars are absolutely fking trash. Stop being the corporate whiteknight, nobody likes corporate whiteknights. Acting like a bunch of sheeple, but weirdly confrontational and defensive when their favorite corporate is being heavily criticized because of their scummy practices.

lmao, I think you just like using the term corporate white knight. I could go on and on about the bullshittery Hoyoverse likes to pull on us but I don’t feel like doing that unless I am gonna start a lawsuit. If I’m a corporate white knight, then I make tectone look like he is sponsored by Hoyoverse. All I’m here for is to say that this looks like a solid character for their niche with along drawn out overcomplicated explanation. This isn’t even the place to sing the praises of Hoyoverse or Cognosphere. You are wasting your time crying wolf on this site of all places. Go to Twitter if you want to find ‘corporate white knights’.

Since you like to try and claim im a white knight, how about I go over everything again but with the most condescending and pessimistic tone you can imagine. Healing in this game is being forced up the player’s asses by hoyoverse because they keep including rifthounds and other dogshit enemies that inflict crippling corrosion even through the shield of the literal god of contracts and protection, Zhongli. The release of this Shinobu character just proves that Hoyoverse don’t give a flying fuck about their community and will suck them dry and force-feed them the most annoying and poorly designed enemies in the entire fucking game if it means that hoyoverse will get a profit. Can you understand the languang im speaking now? (:

Then why the fck are you defending this horrible design of a character? Why the fk do you even do it? You’re self contradicting. If you’re not a corporate whiteknight, then why don’t you point out the obviously wrong thing here instead of defending it? The 4 star characters are clearly getting worse and worse.

Kuki shinobu is basically electro amber with kamikaze healing that does massively lower DPS than amber. Not to mention that there’s no weapon for her at all, not even harbringer of dawn because she can’t be at 90% or above health since she do self harm and require less than 50% HP to cast burst effectively.

So tell me this… why the fk are you defending this blatant scummy practice of downgrading 4 stars power level by defending the horribly designed character? Why are you doing it, if you’re claiming that you’re not a corporate whiteknight?

“stop saying her numbers look small”

man if anyone says this i wouldnt even react to them

because fyi, if you compare kuki with hp-electro-crit with any other character with atk-element-crit and assume the attack scaler would have 2000 attack her ult

it comes out that her ult on low hp, lvl 9 is comparable with abt 850% attack scaling

taking into consideration that atk CAN be buffed but hp not, take for example a bennett that buffs abt 1000 atk, then it can be compared with 570%

Still high, plus kuki is a support, not the main dps so you can leave her out of the buffing rotation anyways.
That hp scaling is mad, her healing is pretty ok (comparable to dionas considering kuki has a bunch of healing bonus related stuff in her talents , higher hp + hp ascension and its on skill, so no er worries), the ult cost is ok and she has great uptime on skill.

people who say her scalings are low are 1. not looking at the whole picture and 2. not familiar with hp scalings and just shout that its low, a baseline should be that 1% hp should be comparable to 10% atk

Her hp scaling is a double-edged sword, there is currently no character that can buff max hp in combat to my knowledge. Yelan C4 is the only one i can think of. Most of the in game damage buffs are through increasing attack which obviously won’t affect the damage from Kuki’s burst so you have to rely on other methods such as res/def shred, electro dmg buffs like C6 sara, Raiden skill, crit stats, or 4 piece emblem. I might have missed a few but I have mixed feelings about this. Either it is going to make her even more simple to play or it just means that the only ways to buff her in combat are pretty limited. At least she won’t be heavily reliant on party buffs for her damage but the reverse is also true, she doesn’t have much she can provide the team besides healing. I hope I’m not making this sound too complicated lol. The biggest problem I see with her kit is Jade Cutter will likely be her best weapon, mildly infuriating because she doesnt really have any other weapons that would boost both her damage and her healing. Iron sting is your next best option but I’m worried it just won’t be able to compare. I hope im just overthinking this because I’d really like to be able to use her without feeling like I have to over-invest.
