Icetide Vortex
#Sharp frost, swift blade.
Press
Slashes swiftly, dealing Cryo DMG.
When it hits an opponent, Eula gains a stack of Grimheart that stacks up to 2 times. These stacks can only be gained once every 0.3s.
Grimheart
Increases Eula's resistance to interruption and DEF.
Hold
Wielding her sword, Eula slashes forward, dealing AoE Cryo DMG to opponents in front of her, consuming all the stacks of Grimheart that Eula possess.
If Grimheart stacks are consumed, opponents hit by this skill will have their Physical RES and Cryo RES decreased.
Each stack of Grimheart will be converted into an Icewhirl Brand that deals Cryo DMG to nearby opponents.
"So the waves roiled, swallowing the crown of the nobles. And ever after did each drop amidst the icy waves reflect a golden crown, each and every droplet of the spray shining with its light.

Glacial Illumination
Brandishes her greatsword, dealing Cryo DMG to nearby opponents and creates a Lightfall Sword that follows her around for a certain duration.
When Eula's own Normal Attacks, Elemental Skills and Elemental Bursts deal DMG to opponents, they will charge the Lightfall Sword, which can gain an energy stack once every 0.1s.
Once its duration ends, the Lightfall Sword will explode violently, dealing Physical DMG to nearby opponents.
This DMG scales on the number of energy stacks the Lightfall Sword has accumulated.
If Eula dies or leaves the field, the Lightfall Sword will immediately explode
It is easy to sink. But even so, she desires to freeze this oncoming tide.

How long does the lightfall sword last on her q before it bursts? If you can actually manage to get 30 stacks it should do some absurd amounts of damage, but that really depends on how long the duration is that you can accumulate stacks.

My razor who can average 70k in 4 hits is proof that physical meta is viable. I am absolutely wishing at eula banner since i love physical dmg dealers(including xinyan,fischl,rosaria).. Heck i even cleared spiral abyss floor 12 using a physical build C0 rosaria using R1 dragonspine spear 😀

I really hope that they don’t implement the changes to her second passive, I really like the cd reduction when she crits. Also her second constellation will be worth less (not worthless) if the new passive is true

Y’all saying she won’t be meta because she is mainly physical dps when she decreases phys resistance by 25% in her E hold imagine if you combine here with an electro support for a semi permanent superconduct debuff which also decreases 50% phys resistance
No enemy in the game has more than 75% phys resistance so she can make them take neutral maybe even more dmg than normal now imagine what she can do to enemies neutral or weak to phys
not to mention her multipliers are quite high

They are trying to compare physical dmg to the elemental reactions(Melt/Vapo) that can crit and be amplified by many things such as elemental mastery, reaction multiplier, etc. Also, there isn’t that much support for physical DPS and they mostly rely on 1 element reaction, whereas with elemental DPS except for Geo and Anemo, they have an element(Anemo) that is fully dedicated to supporting the element team.
Short Answer: Physical DPS characters are lacking supports to increase potentials unlike with elements.

Superconduct: 40 % physical res down
Zhongli: 20 % physical res down
Eula: 25 % physical res down
      Venti: 12 % + 12 % (conditional) = 24 % physical res down

Total: 109 % physical res down

She’s future investment and will be one of the most effective tactics available for beating contents when the foes’ resistances are high.
Current content is easy so most enemies only have 10 % resistance at best.
miHoYo also hasn’t introduced status ailment yet, but when they do the META will require resistance down.
Hence why people don’t see her potential, because current META only requires pure DPS as there’s no resistance or debuffs to our DPS.
So when people say “she won’t be META” they mean the present META, she most definitely will “be META” once the game gets harder.

META aside though, have you seen her bust size? Those two jugs be massive in the front and back. Any connoisseur with good tastes would most definitely pull for her. This woman is just 10/10 hot and know how fashions should look like. No waifu will out compete Eula for a long time, she’ll be the # 1 waifu with only Jean, Lisa, Ningguang, and Rosaria being able to barely compete. Those sword swings on her auto attack animations be the hottest of any characters followed by stunningly beautiful elemental skills/bursts. She’s just non-skippable for us cultured players with good tastes in art.

Do you guys have some creative ideas for team building Eula? For me I’m doing a reverse melt Eula comp but I would like to hear some other creative ideas. And due not that this is not a “Best DMG” option. Just creativeness. Also might I recommend the Eula Main discord server. If you ask questions there you are more likely to get a faster answer there then in a comment section. Cheers lads!

Not exactly team building, but I think Eula might have some potential as a Cryo battery. We don’t know how much energy her E generates but 4 seconds is quite short for an elemental skill cooldown. If she generates 1-2 energy per skill, she would be on par with Bennett as a battery (though she might have energy problems herself with that 80 energy cost ult).

Yeah that 4s CD on press skill really isn’t killing her but its annoying. If the Passive talent 2 doesn’t change I’m curious to see how fast you can spam her E with 85% CR. With C2 her hold which from leaks said that it generates 2-3 particles. If that’s true along with once again her passive talent 2 we can expect some pretty wonky energy regeneration but everyone wont have C2. And yeah that 80 energy requirement is killing me.

Rosa I didn’t roll for and my Kayea doesn’t give me EM like Diona does so he was a skip for me. However most people wont be able to C6 Eula/Bennett/Diona/Sucrose so its not viable to most people which is disappointing. I already have the calcs written out and I’m looking at 381,876DMG before RES and DEF calcs. Another problem is Im going to be using Lavawalker artifact set which is currently a pain in the ass to farm but it beats waiting out Glacier set(Plus I get Crimson witch which I need). All in all I am extremely looking forward to see the unique comps everyone comes up with. Also Ill be sure to upload a video of my Eula on my twitter account so if you wanna watch it when it comes out here ya go. I’m not really active on twitter due to Eula not being out yet but when she does Imma hopefully have a lot to post! https://twitter.com/SomeGenshin

I’ll just pass Eula just because she does not fit in meta game play right now.
I worry about future content that will get so hard to the point it can’t be cleared with non meta char.
Long way to go before we see this, but it will be the future.
I’ll just pick meta op char.

Whatever you pick, be happy about it and don’t bitch later on.
Just remember not to cry about sh*t when someone has a clear time of 1 second vs your 10 minutes, or when you die in 1 combo when using the trashiest bottom feeding character in the game. Just have fun, right?

Future content that will get sO HaRD that cant be cleared by non meta. If that actually happen, mihoyo will obviously lose their player. Genshin is about trying and experimenting different team, character, and build. If theres a stage that can ONLY be cleared by a really specific team with a really spesific weapon. Then, where’s the fun? Cause i dont see any. If that really happen, i would quit genshin very easily. The game will FORCE you to play that way, and you dont have any FREEDOM.

Thats why the contending tides event and oceanid event aren’t really hard, and features event wont be as hard either.

It’s like you people forget that the hardest content in the game right now is Spiral Abyss and even that can easily change any time Mihoyo wants it to change like how they’re doing with the variable buffs and floor 9 – 12. but eh, I digress. meta slaves will be meta slaves.

Also, who cares about your 10second clear time that doesn’t yield any actual game rewards aside from bragging rights and sense of achievement? As long as you get maximum rewards whotf cares, this is a PvE game.

The content in the current game is small and limited at the moment, so the difference between picking meta vs. waifu is miniscule. Do you actually think it will always be like this? Once they release harder content, the difference will be from “I can clear this in 1 – 10 seconds faster because I have meta pick #1” to “I can’t clear this at all with this team.” People will cry “pay to win!!”, but that’s the nature of these types of games.

Character META mostly applies in Spiral Abyss which most people don’t even care about it because they play this casually not competitively. There’s no reason for them to play this game competitively.
Any content outside of it can be done by any characters you have.
      Also, you ignore one thing:
ALL CHARACTERS NEEDS GOOD AND CORRECT ARTIFACTS AND WEAPONS TO BECOME A FUNCTIONING CHARACTER.
Give any good weapons, artifacts, talent levels, etc. to characters that you called “trashiest bottom-feeding character” and they’ll do decent to good dmg. I’m sure that the characters from the mid-low tier can clear abyss floor 12 half of 5 mins or even 3 mins w/ right usages of characters.
Give any decent-bad weapon, artifacts, low talent levels, etc. to any character in the TOP TIER LIST and they’ll do normal to bad dmg.

Meanwhile in honkai you can clear all content without meta chars, but you wouldn’t gain as much as whales with meta teams, cause in honkai abyss is competitive and clear last floor, to be specific, in time matters, and it can change your reward for faster completing abyss, so stop whining about meta/non-meta since it doesn’t matter in genshin at all

Man you guys are really harsh to the OP. IMO metas can change and like what some people have said, Spiral Abyss is currently counted as the hardest content and we know that it also tends to be tailored to recently released characters. Additionally, the developers have been giving supports that help in boosting physical damage, on top of that, Eula herself has phys resis shred. In the end, pull for who you like to play. Give her a try when she gets released and if you like her aesthetic design and how she plays when you use her, then get her.

“Character META mostly applies in Spiral Abyss which most people don’t even care about it because they play this casually not competitively.”

Speak for yourself. I know there are a lot of people waiting for miHoYo to implement content similar to Memorial Arena in Honkai with a global ranking system. Genshin is extremely popular right now because it is still in the ‘honeymoon phase’ with being a relatively new game. There is no way that popularity will be sustainable with the current amount of content being released. I think the current plan is 1 significant patch with a new area, small incremental updates to the story and then filler content with rerun banners in between? I also fully do not expect them to consistently release new areas in the future once the hype for this game dies down. Therefore, the replayability has to come from somewhere, otherwise they will lose the players that matter (the whales) due to boredom.

“There’s no reason for them to play this game competitively.”

Yes. I agree. People already broke Spiral Abyss because of how easy it is. That’s why it only makes sense that future content will be increasingly more difficult to artificially increase the longevity of this game. Right now, ‘end game whales’, or even just day 1 F2P are just logging in to do their daily tasks and then logging out. The world is beautifully crafted, but it’s basically a giant land of nothing once the story is cleared. The collectibles are not hard to find and that gets boring. I’m sure people are tired of helping Lianne and Lynn find the three apples directly behind her.

So yes, in the future (because it’s too early right now when they are trying to solidify their player base for Genshin), I fully expect them to make content where it will require a specific team composition or characters with certain attributes to be able to efficiently clear it. And if you don’t have that character, well, goodbye to your ranking for that rotation. We’ve seen miHoYo pull this with Honkai. Why do they do this? It forces people to pull for characters, in addition to investing time and resources into building those characters and teams. F2P will just shrug and say ‘whatever’ at anything competitive and do their own thing, but the whales will spend to improve their ranking. Genshin is a gacha game at it’s core. They want you to spend money. The whales are who miHoYo wants to target. I remember in Honkai, when HoR was first released, I whaled pretty hard to get her, the signature weapon and all 3 Welt Yang stigmata set. It was almost a necessity to rank high in memorial arena because the content was basically tailored for her.

I’m going to use Ganyu as an example, because I whaled C6 for her. There’s literally no reason for me to use another cryo character. I’d just pull for supports until another cryo out-DPS my Ganyu. In fact, this mind set could even apply for the casual player. Why pull for another cryo element when you already have the best or even 2nd best? Oh, and if we really want to get into weeb territory, Ganyu simultaneously fulfills the ‘meta’ and ‘waifu’ criteria too. However, I’d pull for Eula if somewhere down the line I’ll need physical DPS to defeat a boss in the abyss, especially if it is ranked. Powercreep is inevitable with Genshin (using Honkai as an example, miHoYo does not buff old characters; Zhongli was an abnormality. However, new artifacts can keep them somewhat relevant in the ‘meta’.) However, right now there is no point other than seeing bigger numbers.

Her 3rd passive of the crit rate has been changed to Casting Q will reset her E cooldown and give an additional Grimheart.
And the Pale Flame set’s 4 piece set effect has also changed to requiring only 2 E spell for 18% atk and doubling the 2 set Effect of 25%v Physical bonus.

So If used , with the new passive talent, getting 2 stacks is very easy.
With that we get 50% Physical Dmg Bonus and 18% atk.
Which imo is much better than the Glad full set and Glad 2+Blood 2

But these are subject to change so don’t decide completely yet.

      Yes, Most likely.
With the addition of her leaked updated passive that makes her E resets when entering burst(like Razor), you can get the effect of 4pc set pale flame right away before the Lightfall Sword explode. This may be also viable for Razor too.
      Testing is still needed.

      Short version: No.
Long version: Not with currently available tools and the existing mechanics of physical damage. Since Hu Tao’s damage is Pyro, it can benefit from additional multipliers like Vape/Melt, CW 4 piece bonus, and EM. Eula is physical and therefore her Q can’t be set up into a reaction. So even though Eula’s got a very impressive 4-digit Atk ratio on her Lightfall Sword, that’s really nothing compared to the power of compound interest.
      Other considerations like:
      – Eula’s higher base Atk vs. Hu Tao’s HP->Atk conversion
      – Phys Goblet/Accessory passive values being overall higher than the Pyro equivalents vs. Hu Tao Passive Pyro Damage at low HP
      – Greater access to Phys shred vs. generally higher baseline Phys resist and the ability to shred Pyro with VV
…are within an order of magnitude of each other and essentially a wash. And they both get Crit Dmg from ascension so that doesn’t matter.

Very unlikely, I think when you pull for Eula, you are going more for a consistent physical carry really tanky and flexible, even if the enemy has Physical resistence, she can debuff then. But if you wanto HUGE crazy numbers, Pyro is the way.

I’m specting her to be at the same level of Xiao.

      You can, you just need:
      c6 Eula, r5 WGS (+WGS passive), c1 bennett.+superconduct+E(hold) res shred, 200% CD, 108% phys bonus+30%(c1), c4, Noblesse buff,
Against a lvl 100 primo geovishap that has 30% phys res, her lightfall sword can deal 1.27mil . She can do more if you take into consideration Lisa’s def shred and c4 Xinyan or c2 klee.
However, Hu tao can do around double that dmg with her burst and optimal set up. Also Eula’s max dmg is gated by the rng nature of her c6 and the enemy needs to be tanky enough to not die from hits you do when stacking her burst.

The reason why Hu Tao can do such big numbers has alot to do with the fact that Staff of Homa is prob the best weapon there is and will be for her, but WGS could easily get outmatched by future claymores that have physical dmg stas/ res shred. WGS only has ATK% which is nice and all, but elemental/ phys/ crit stats could create bigger numbers more easily.
I’m gonna try to pull for the upcoming phys claymore, if it’s what I expect it to be.

I’m reading the numbers here and thinking of teams comps you can put her in, mainly Physical Eula with 1 other cryo (who isn’t Chongyun so you also benfit from the physical dmg from her hits), 1 electro (probably Fischl because of Oz) and either Zhongli for his shield or Venti for his C2. The numbers on her elemental burst seem massive but I dont really know what’s massive due to cluelessness around parts of other DPS’ dmg. I don’t think Eula will fit in a melt build at all since her kit and numbers seem more toward physical comp, and I feel as if you dont want to freeze opponents since getting rid of crit rate every 2nd attack for the measly dmg dealt by shattered seems silly. I think to maximize on the physical dmg you will definitely want to run electro with Eula. What do you guys think?

      • Avatar

Yes, It’s mandatory to run 1 cryo and/or 1 electro to maximize your Physical Dmg.
Physical doesn’t have access to Viridescent RES down debuff to increase their dmg.
If you’re planning to put Zhongli w/ Eula, you may also want to put another geo character for when shielded, you deal 15% dmg dealt more.
Freeze comp will be not good because you will shatter frozen enemies easily.
If melt comp, testing is still needed, but I don’t think it can defeat Chongyun’s burst.

This is based on my personal opinion:
Assuming the current burst’s damage is not changed in any way, it should be on par with melt & vaporize setup. It’s rather hard to reach 30 stacks without C6 or any atk speed boost anyway as it only last for 7sec. It’s rather balanced thinking about it this way, but not balanced considering her alone can deal the same dmg as melt & vaporize team setup.

Though Ganyu & Xiao exist as well without relying on melt & vaporize.
It’s hard to correctly predict without in-depth testing.
